M's assistant, the black fellow who reports on who is who, would have made an interesting Bond. He's got the look, the attitude and the accent and changing the race of the iconic spy would have been very refreshing. Although, even though this actor has been very good in small doses in a dozen other films--Tomorrow Never Dies, AVP, Resident Evil--I have no idea if he can carry a film on his own.

However, it has no satellite or GPS guidance, so yes, it can be out of range for a self-destruct command, which would operate on radio frequency waves and thus is limited in range.
