i drive a dodge colt with a 1.8l engine in it, it weights 2000lbs
it pulls like a mofo, lots and lots of gs for everything, it jerks me back when i punch it
no mods, i paid 200 bux for it, put in total of 700 after tax and repair for emission and tires and insurance, and em, i get 40 mpg on automatic trans, and the colt is faster then pretty much everything on the road, for less then the price of your upgrades my car is faster and drives better
No, i'm correct i just don't feel like arguing with some person who is probably in there early 20's or teens and i don't even know you so its a waste of time. But please do continue...
By the way, you were not correct at all, you think in your silly little mind, that "horsepower" and torque are some completely different types of power.
Torque is the force being applied, RPM's is that force being measured over time. Like I said, check out the equation, Horsepower = Torque X Engine RPM / 5,252.
Torque gets you off the line, and torque is what keeps you going, and accelerates the vehicle further. Horsepower does NOTHING, do you know why?
i want 1:03 back of my life. next time make it so we can actually see the tacho and moh with some sort of timer on screen. Is the ram using one of those eRam turbochargers?
try flooring a 2009 ford f350, your head jerks back against the seat, acually i had to put ice on my neck because i hert it from being jerked back like that when my dad passed someone on the highway.
what the fuck. i learned nothing next time tape the camera to the steering wheel. and the reason rams and durangos are so slow is because they are automatics examle the 1995 auto ram does 0-60 in 11 sec were the 1995 manuel ram does it in 8.7 sec. and dont listen to what chrysler says there all fuckin retards and i can say this caused ive owned 4 dodges and had only 1 good one.(95 dakota 5spd
@Theautotech research it alittle, automatics are making faster cars, all real dragsters are automatic, look it up, maybe hit the track once in awhile. dodge, ford, chevy, doesnt matter, a real power comes from engine work.
HAhAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ummm no turbo desiels are NOT fast silly redkneck. LOL@LedZeplin. Even with a chip, strait pipe, full intake, and a big ass turbo they are SLOW as fuck. and if it was in a light truck it still would be slow as fuck because it wouldnt be able to ground shit. silly redkneck : D
Tell that to the redknecks that race my buddies for cash and talk alot of shit. Im aware that they are designed for pulling. Its engineered for it. NOT for going fast.
you dont know what fast is then. I dont consider anthing that pulls WITH mods 16 second or greater quater miles as fast and if you do almost everything is fast.
on the highway I put football fields on chipped turbo desiels with bolt on ons. No trucks are fucking slow without dumping retarded amounts of cash into them.
not true you can get a SVT Lightning or srt10 ram into high 11s,low 12s with not that much money diesels got torque not hp there made for work not play
I hope you know what exactly horsepower, and torque are.. Torque is what is physically doing ALL of the work, to push an automobile, horsepower is just a measurement system used to combined time (engine speed) with the actual force that the engine is producing, known as torque.
Horsepower is figured by this formula.
HP = Torque X RPM / 5,252.
Horsepower is essentially used to define an engine, by RPM range.
dude wtf are you talking about? Torque gets you off the line HP is what wins races. Why do you think civic's when built right can beat cars with twice the HP and TQ? Not only are they light weight but when the HP kicks in there gone(depending on the car) they have more HP then TQ. God your dumb.
Dude, what the fuck are you talking about? That's the question. You don't even know. HORSEPOWER is forumulated FROM TORQUE, AND REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE.
Horsepower = Torque X Engine RPM / 5,252.
Next time you try to call someone dumb, at least learn how to fucking spell, and learn up on "horsepower".
"Horsepower" doesn't "kicks in" It's called a TORQUE CURVE, which is how horsepower is formulated, once combined with the engine revolutions.
By the way, show me just ONE Civic beating any car with twice the torque. Go ahead, search your little heart out. You won't find it, unless the car weighs a good 5 tons.
Nice one though "God your dumb". Coming from a dumbass kid who does not understand horsepower, or conjunctions, and spelling in general.
Can't spell? Okay, Lets look at VW for an example. the 05 VW jetta TDI has more torque than lets say, my car...my saturn. stock i'm rated it 124HP, with i believe 122 ft-tq? Are you saying because i have less HP AND tq i'm going to loose? Yeah if we were the same weight. The jetta has probably around 150HP, and a 160ish torque, and no offense to you but my car can do high 15's in a 1/4 mile and a jetta does it in high 16's...
You're talking about cars that aren't the same weight, then you're saying you would lose if they were the same weight, you're making absolutely no sense.
Your reply to me was you trying to be arrogant, and you do not even comprehend what horsepower is. You think "horsepower" kicks in, as if it's a turbocharger.
What you're saying is, a 643 horsepower turbo Civic would beat the fastest production car in the world, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT. I'd like to see that one happen, nice theory.
Also, before you even reply with another whack job theory, you said:
"Why do you think civic's when built right can beat cars with twice the HP and TQ?"
Which is complete bullshit. You will not see a Civic doing 257 miles per hour.
Go study up on horsepower, and how it is formulated before you try to reply with your cocky little BS on here. I'll leave you off once again with that great forumula.
You wont see hardly any car doing 257mph dumb ass! So your saying if a car has oh lets say, 115HP with 190FT/TQ its going to beat a car with 170HP with 115FT/TQ? Yeah okay dumb ass, tq will get you off the line, HP is what keeps you going. I'm not cocky, your just giving false information.
That's what you said kiddo, as there are 600+ horsepower Civics around, and they're becoming increasingly common actually. You said they will beat cars with twice the horsepower, so why can it not go 257 miles per hour, such as the Ultimate Aero TT, that has nearly 1,300 horsepower? I'll tell you why, because you're a whack job ricer that generalizes, when you have no experience in the real world, with cars.
Once again though, moron, "tq will get you off the line, HP is what keeps you going"
DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT HORSEPOWER IS? Horsepower is formulated from engine revolutions, and the torque curve, horsepower is not some mysterious other engine power, all there is, is torque, and engine RPM's, which is why the horsepower system was invented. To give the average person a better general idea of the engine's peak power, for those people who do not understand what torque is, such as yourself.
I'll make it even simpler, for your simple mind. Revolutions are the work being done over time, torque is that force being applied to the crankshaft, torque is what is doing all of the work.
"horsepower" doesn't do anything, "horsepower" is simple a means of measuring overall engine power ratings, combined with torque. Torque is a measurement of that actual work being done.
Your mainly correct about what you have said except the statement "Torque is a measurement of the actual work being done". That is incorrect, Torque is a the force that's being applied. Horsepower is the amount of work being done. And It is entirely possible for a car with half the torque of another car to still be faster. It would just have to spin very high RPM's to make the HP.
That is what I meant, by the work being done, the force being applied, I should of worded it a little better.
What you said is incorrect, though. I absolutely love the lower revving engines with just massive amounts of torque, but they have their limits. Gasoline engines have a broader RPM range, and are capable, and have beaten diesel cars with double the torque.
A Jetta TDI, which is an awesome car in my humble opinion, wouldn't stand a chance against one of them little Vtecs.
Marduke83, according to that equation, your Suzuki Swift GTI is producing 99 horsepower at peak torque, which is 4,800 RPM's. They produce 123 horsepower at only 1,200 RPM's past that. The equation is very accurate, you on the other hand, are just very dumb.
4,800 X 109 / 5,252 = 99.6191 Horsepower.
I suggest you practice on your math skills before you try to bash someone over Youtube, when you're incorrect.
Sorry for looking up some general specifications about your Suzuki Swift, I thought that's what an average person would do.
I am however also that public education has failed you. I recommend you try that formula again, and type the numbers REALLY slow, you may get it right.
I have done the formula exactly, I even used a lower torque than my actual torque, and it does not match my HP reading (it's still way too high) simple as that.
You are obviously too arrogant to accept that the formula does not match my HP reading. And I can't be bothered continuing to push my point any further. The formula has quite simply not worked in the case of my car. If you can't accept that, then it's not my problem.
Obviously you're far too inept to do simple math correctly. You see, that's not my formula. Engine builders have been using it for years, so, you're saying people with 1000's of times more experience than you, are stupid.
You're the one that needs to accept it, you obviously have your torque numbers wrong, the formula works beautifly. Let's go over it.
An Enzo produces 484 FT.-LBS. at 5,500 RPM's. That translates to 506 overall HP at 5,500 RPM. I'd need a dyno sheet to continue, though.
Ugh.. Look, I honestly don't care what you think. I am quite capable of doing maths thank you very much, somehow I don't think I would have graduated if I was 'inept'.
I said it didn't work in the case of my car. I have tried it with other cars readings since and yes it is accurate, but it is not with my read outs. Unless the dyno was giving out false readings/needed to be calibrated, I'm not sure, but the fact still remains that the formula does not work for my car.
@marduke83. This equation is correct. I don't know what hp and torque numbers you have, but I am venturing to guess that your peak hp and peak torque are not at the same rpm. So obviously if you take your peak torque and plug it into the equation, you WILL NOT get the same number as your peak hp. The same goes for plugging in your peak HP. It will give you the torque at the same rpm as your HP, but should be a lower number than your peak torque.
lol no horsepower is gained by an electric turbo.. the air beeing suckt in by the engine is far greater then some dumb fan can generate
it would prob fuck up the flow of air more then increase it LOL google turbo and read some shit about the pressure and speed of a real turbo fan... then you will laugh just as hard as me about this e-bay crap LOL
you obviously have no idea what your talking about because a real turbo fan should be capable of at least 30psi, where as these are only capable of a full time usable 3-6.
i dont know why ur comparing a "lightly" modded hemi ram to a 5.2l or a 5.9l durango... the ram obviusly has more horse power.. but it looked to me that the durango held its ground, and u didnt even go to the same speed in the ram as the durango even though the camera was shaking like hell i could see it.... electric superchargers suck btw

it would prob fuck up the flow of air more then increase it LOL google turbo and read some shit about the pressure and speed of a real turbo fan... then you will laugh just as hard as me about this e-bay crap LOL

this isnt an ebay turbo. go to google and search e-ram electric supercharger. just do it

@Tater49
It may cost more than a cheap ebay unit but it does nothing but make you wallet lighter.

@dutchfreaker
you obviously have no idea what your talking about because a real turbo fan should be capable of at least 30psi, where as these are only capable of a full time usable 3-6.

How much extra power would you guess you are getting from the electric superchargers??
Trey3212 3 years ago
not much, but probably around 10 or so

i dont know why ur comparing a "lightly" modded hemi ram to a 5.2l or a 5.9l durango... the ram obviusly has more horse power.. but it looked to me that the durango held its ground, and u didnt even go to the same speed in the ram as the durango even though the camera was shaking like hell i could see it.... electric superchargers suck btw

14,000 hamster wheels are really powerful. I-4 2.4l is crap compared to a v-8 4.7 or 5.7

How much horsepower did your electric supercharger add?
JohnFromSpace 4 years ago
there are dual electric superchargers and they add around 30hp at least, and for 400 bucks thats pretty good.
