By the way, you were not correct at all, you think in your silly little mind, that "horsepower" and torque are some completely different types of power.

Torque is the force being applied, RPM's is that force being measured over time. Like I said, check out the equation, Horsepower = Torque X Engine RPM / 5,252.

Torque gets you off the line, and torque is what keeps you going, and accelerates the vehicle further. Horsepower does NOTHING, do you know why?

I hope you know what exactly horsepower, and torque are.. Torque is what is physically doing ALL of the work, to push an automobile, horsepower is just a measurement system used to combined time (engine speed) with the actual force that the engine is producing, known as torque.

Horsepower is figured by this formula.

HP = Torque X RPM / 5,252.

Horsepower is essentially used to define an engine, by RPM range.

Torque wins races, horsepower sells cars.

Horsepower is the amount of work being done. And It is entirely possible for a car with half the torque of another car to still be faster. It would just have to spin very high RPM's to make the HP.

What you said is incorrect, though. I absolutely love the lower revving engines with just massive amounts of torque, but they have their limits. Gasoline engines have a broader RPM range, and are capable, and have beaten diesel cars with double the torque.

Marduke83, according to that equation, your Suzuki Swift GTI is producing 99 horsepower at peak torque, which is 4,800 RPM's. They produce 123 horsepower at only 1,200 RPM's past that. The equation is very accurate, you on the other hand, are just very dumb.

4,800 X 109 / 5,252 = 99.6191 Horsepower.

I suggest you practice on your math skills before you try to bash someone over Youtube, when you're incorrect.

I have done the formula exactly, I even used a lower torque than my actual torque, and it does not match my HP reading (it's still way too high) simple as that.

I said it didn't work in the case of my car. I have tried it with other cars readings since and yes it is accurate, but it is not with my read outs. Unless the dyno was giving out false readings/needed to be calibrated, I'm not sure, but the fact still remains that the formula does not work for my car.

@marduke83. This equation is correct. I don't know what hp and torque numbers you have, but I am venturing to guess that your peak hp and peak torque are not at the same rpm. So obviously if you take your peak torque and plug it into the equation, you WILL NOT get the same number as your peak hp. The same goes for plugging in your peak HP. It will give you the torque at the same rpm as your HP, but should be a lower number than your peak torque.
