Nothing really changes in the world - it's frozen in time. Even the enemies you kill are respawned after a few minutes, as if nothing happened (and you can kill them again, and again, and again, and again...).
@AlexeiVoronin you know you have a point there i must agree, there is no storyline only if your with the top raiders and can raid on a weekly basis is when you get to see the storyline progress, but if you dont raid then yeah your doing the same thing over and over again, which is why i pvp but even that tends to get very boring after a few months even if you get enough points to get new gear guess what new patch so you gotta do it all over again

stormwind was destroyed in war 1it was later rebuilding after warcraft 2 it was fully rebuild between warcraft 3 and wow while lordaeron was destroyed in warcraft 3 and it was claimed by the forsaken.

@marastar02 Yeah, the Horde hadn't been founded yet, and the Orcs had come into Azeroth for the first time through the Dark Portal from Draenor (Outland before it was decimated) and they were currently with the Burning Legion. In Warcraft 2 the Trolls and some Undead also joined them and the Horde was created. In Warcraft 3, the Undead were still Scourge and the Horde consisted of Trolls, Orcs, Goblins, and Taurens. In WoW, Undead also joined the Horde while some of them stayed with the Scourge.
Everything made sense until Burning Crusade. Since then it's been on a downhill tumble of lore lols and wtf moments. Cataclysm was a pretty cool storyline but so much has been messed up inbetween the thens and nows it almost completely negates the coolness of it. I wish they just went with a Warcraft 4 instead of WoW.

Personally, I think Garrosh (and the horde as a whole) are more... "in line" with what we see here. Playing WarCraft and WarCraft II, where the orcs and the horde are the badguys, and then have the entire race/organization turn into these "proud warrior race" guys in WarCraft III... bit of a curveball.
It would have been more appropriate if the Horde had started out as the Garrosh led warmachine, and then gradually turned into the honorable Horde that Thrall led through WC3 ->WotLK. YMMV.

The orcish leader was at first Blackhand, but due to being nothing more than a figure head for the orc warlock Gul'dan, Blackhand was slain by Orgrim Doomhammer, who led the Horde during the events of Warcraft 2.
The Orc on the throne at the end I think is still Blackhand the Destroyer (before he was challenged in combat for leadership by Orgrim Doomhammer). I think this because the orc shown has a warblade and Orgrim Doomhammer wielded, of course, the legendary Doomhammer.

@TheSimonKure that refered to lordaeron, geography of azeroth was quite diferent on the startegy games then it is in wow. Therefore stormwind was not in the same continent as lordaeron, silvermoon and Ironforge. Other changes also happened if u see warcraft 3 maps and compare. On wow the sunwell was moved to quel dabas isle when originally was on the eastern side of lordamere lake, Brill swaped position with andorhal, and stratholme with heartglen. God knows why they changed it in WoW.
WC and WC2, Unlike warcraft 3 linear chapter per chapter plot, The first two games had two alternate story paths that lead to different outcomes, Only the "Orc Campaign" is canonical in WC1, In warcraft 2 its the human campaign that is canonical, In its expansion both campaigns share common continuity so both are canon.

Blizzard discontinued sale of Wc1 back in 98, It was a DOS game and is pretty antiquated, It was my first RTS and is what got me hooked on blizzard.
Warcraft II, Had a battlenet edition released just before warcraft III came out, That game might still be open to sale, Warcraft 2 is still unique in that it offered naval combat.

to be honest... back in the times this was a great game. if you look at the quality of games now, you may only come to mind "is this a joke" when looking at these games.. but do know it is before warcraft, modern warfare or any of those HQ games were even made.

@TheRStard Are you kidding me? I still play WarCraft 2 often, this game still looks amazing visually, if you compare WarCraft 1 with WarCraft 3 theres little difference in terms of gameplay, the only difference is graphics.

@Xienis Not quite true, in WarCraft 1, you had to build roads to connect your buildings, you also had the ability to build walls. Something that never made it past WarCraft 1

funny this was the time when azeroth was just a kingdom in an island far from lordaeron, arathor, quel talas and khaz modan ("lands across the great sea still untouched by the orcs). Then with wow this island collided somehow from the south and the name azeroth came to apply over the whole planet.

@pynkfysh well archimonde and kil'jayden are eredar and the draenei use to be called eredar before they joined forces with the naaru so that would explain why they look like achimonde but i don't know why the alliance got draenei lol

yes but without the power of the burning legion they are much weaker than before and much less aggressive. plus they used to have dark green skin and red glowing eyes. I really dislike the pale green skin color the most.

Ahh... Brings back memories...
I like how "the enemies across the great sea" is a reference to the night elves, even though they technially were not in the game yet. Also that they spelled "Warchief" as War Chief back then :)

@TheSimonKure that refered to lordaeron, geography of azeroth was quite diferent on the startegy games then it is in wow. Therefore stormwind was not in the same continent as lordaeron, silvermoon and Ironforge. Other changes also happened if u see warcraft 3 maps and compare. On wow the sunwell was moved to quel dabas isle when originally was on the eastern side of lordamere lake, Brill swaped position with andorhal, and stratholme with heartglen. God knows why they changed it in WoW.

WC and WC2, Unlike warcraft 3 linear chapter per chapter plot, The first two games had two alternate story paths that lead to different outcomes, Only the "Orc Campaign" is canonical in WC1, In warcraft 2 its the human campaign that is canonical, In its expansion both campaigns share common continuity so both are canon.

Blizzard discontinued sale of Wc1 back in 98, It was a DOS game and is pretty antiquated, It was my first RTS and is what got me hooked on blizzard.
Warcraft II, Had a battlenet edition released just before warcraft III came out, That game might still be open to sale, Warcraft 2 is still unique in that it offered naval combat.
