Steam is the latest gimmick to get people all a tizzy about buying dishwashers with new technology. Steam is already produced by the heating of the water to 140-155F degrees. If you are paying extra for this feature, you're just throwing your money down the drain.
I KNOW!!!!!! I thought the same thing......When you open a dishwasher when it's finished LOADS of steam comes out........What a gimmick! Quite honestly, technology has taken one step forward (noise energy efficiency) and three steps back (less powerful motors=not as good at cleaning).....
steam is generated in all cases during normal washing in all dishwashers. Think only at spray arms that spray hot water in a closed chamber... the dishwasher tub. This happens in all standard dishwasher... thought
@confiturier I agree, but people are too ignorant to figure this out. They just see a new feature advertised and say, "Gee look honey." This technology is nothing new. KitchenAid (back when they were real KitchenAids made by Hobart Corp) used this technology in the 1970's
