I remember going to mexico with a gameboy but then I came back with a sack of marbles

Amazing! I see almost nothing of the marbles game we played on the school ground in the 1960s. Marbles was played IN THE DIRT, never indoors. The oversized marble was used only to toss at a line drawn in the dirt 10 feet away. The closest to the line got to start. You draw a circle in the dirt and drop your marbles inside it. Your "shooing taw" was smaller than the other marbles.and you used it to knock the other marbles out of the circle, which were then yours. Keepers. And NO GIRLS! :)

Reminds me of the good old days! I used to be outside playing marbles, pogs and skateboard. I was always outside being active as a kid and teenager. It's so sad to see most kids today inside on the computer and playing games. They will never know the true meaning of enjoying the day.

marbles are fun. i wish i was in mexico right know playing marbles for keeps. i have 3000+ marbles with 120 shooters, 11 boulders, and three juge ones. a great game i played was were you dug a hole on the dirt and who ever fell in last had the venom (power) to kill or eliminate the other players.you would make a line and who ever was closer went first. we would throw it as close as posible to the hole to have the venom first. we played for keeps(loser payed a marble(s) to whoever killed them)

I'm pretty sure they're playing it wrong. Aren't you supposed to shoot from outside the circle? It's way too easy if you what they're doing.

This game isn't called marbles. You'd be amazed how many different marble games there are. This one is called "Ringer".

Marbles was my first hustle.

Grade 6..... My parents gave me next to no money....so I would win all the kids marbles through the week and then sell them back at the end of the week> made for a nice paycheck!! 20-30 bucks a week easily :)

Too bad marbles were not cool in grade 7....so I started selling hash for my neighbor

My grandfather used to do the same thing (the marbles, not the hash!) back in the 40's when his dad used to own the town pharmacy. He'd play his classmates for their marbles and then sell them back to them in the pharmacy during lunch. :P

dat is NOT d traditional way to play marbles, u dig a hole in d ground 3 cm wide 1 cm deep n u try to hit other marbles 3 times n u keep 'em in U.S. marbels is uncommon but in other parts of d world dat r much poor (mexico, iraq, etc...) dats like football for little kids n its fun to play
