First off Steve Smith is a living legend and deserves great praise. I'm not saying Todd is not a Steve Smith fan but Todd is very good friends with Deen. After all Deen did give him his one drum kit as a gift when they were on tour a few years back. As far as Deen goes, he is one of the greatest drummers in the business and has been a huge asset to Journey.
@heinzie5 Sorry, guess that was a bit of a cheeky comment. I just know lots of great players live in cities like LA and New York & get together to play for fun in small clubs like this one. You see all kinds of virtuosic players when you know where to look. ;-)
@DrummerBRYCE i really wish we had that kind of culture over here. over here its 99% small time bands that take themselves way too seriously and gigs with very poor turnout :-/ get the odd bit of something different though
he's playing it the right way. I'm lazy, so I got a second hihat on my right side and plays it that way. although, someday I will learn it the correct way
I'm positive he had heard and played this song 1 trillion times before he even knew who castronovo was since this song was written long before castronovo was officially acclaimed...

He's a big Steve Smith fan....and he plays it closer to the original version than Deen does.

Inspiring dancing! And Todd is nailing the the left hand Steve Smith thang regardless...who is singing. Holy molee! Was Steve Perry there?

if steve perry was there, he sure as hell wasnt singing...the vocals would've been a heck of a lot better if he was singing!
