you need to drive through the heels man, stick you butt out, look up...valsalva...explode on the way up from the slower recoil (eccentric) WAY TO GO THOUGH, KEEP IT UP. I did box squats on and off for years and they can create spinal compression, watch it..l8r
I have to assume that you know these are not Box Squats, right? These were touch and go reps, the box was just there for depth, and it was too high for parallel. And you know that you know this video is over two years old, right? And that I linked it to a much better 20+ set without the box, right?

the box just has you hit par, but try arching your back so you go down straighter so it doesnt look like a good morning in the down position otherwise great squat also helps to start the bend from your hips instead of the knees
I am going to be starting the 20 rep squat pretty soon...in your opinion should I go in like that or take each squat individually as a breathing squat...or squat as quick and as much as possible and then do breathing squats when fatigue sets in?
This wasn't done as part of a 20 rep Squat program. I just did these one day after a Squat workout.
My other video was part of a 20 rep program. I like to do as many as possible (5-10) without taking a break, and then do breathing Squats as needed. Ideally you want to pick a weight that you think you could get 10-12 reps with, and stretch it out to 20 reps.
Not really sure. This video is over a year old. I usually Squat low bar. If my shoulders or elbows were feeling beat up on that day I probably switched to high bar.
Good job man! I am planning on going to the gym today to attempt exactly what you did in this video. My current PR is 315 X 15, and your video has inspired me to go for 20 !!!
yeah i agree with teufelhunden5811. The whole point of doing 20 rep squats is going ass to grass. not to do box squats. Try this ass to grass with 225 and then tell me how you feel. but good jobanyways:)
yo whats this song? i'm squatting 250x10 and i need somethin to listen too lol our school doesn't allow this kinda adrenaline pumping music.. so i just use my ipod. yeah i know its pathetic they don't but i didn't make the rules. thanks.
Thanks for your thoughtful opinion. I don't squat ass to calves because I'm a Power Lifter, not an Olympic lifter. This is also an old video. Check out the link to my other video doing 315x22. No box, and plenty deep for me.

i can sdeadlift 315x20 but have yet to squat it. most ive attempted to squat for 20 was 225 but pussied out.

Thanks, I think I used this as a finisher on that day. That was actually a high bar Squat, and the box was just to ensure consistency.
The Squats were pretty high in my opinion. I have done them more recently without the box or belt, and lower.

A) It should be pretty obvious that these aren't Box Squats. The box was there just as a depth tool.
B) I don't Squat ATG because I'm a PL'er and there is no need. It's wasted effort. My sport requires me to Squat to parallel. Period.
C) I posted a video response of me doing 315x22 deeper, beltless, and without a box. That should be enough.

Dude,get rid of the box and go deeper,those are not deep squats...20 reps are hell but I bet if you went deep you could not do 225 for 20...
I`ve done 33 set of 8 with 315,try that....ass to calve...
