Shephard: This can't be the thing I found two years ago, can it?
Orb (in a humurous humming monotone with several vocies): Yes, we are the same USB drive you found years ago. We are the memories of a direct ancestor of you from fifty-two point five thousand years ago. You are the desendant of an idiot.
Shephard: It is. I know my great-great-(a dozen "greats" later)-granddaddy was an idiot. Don't remind me.
I just love how Shepard, one of the few people to have interacted with a prothean beacon, has nothing to say about retrieving a priceless artifact. He's just like, "Itz So sMooTh!"
I welcome - if it is Mass Effect 2 you will say perhaps where it is? Nebula, Arrangement, Planet - I somehow playing into ME2 I don't remember of such a bullet:) please about possibly prompt reply
*takes in a deep breathe* These orbs were used as physical material to hold a mental database of memories or data previously owned to a creature or living being. The data can be almost anything from memories to just stored information. This was the way protheans stored intel since the orbs can store massive amounts of data and change size. There were many of them, probably millions throughout the universe and now there are little to none. To make it simple its a prothean USB drive.
@RaDnWave I dont know what it is, just a relic of some sort left behind by the protheans, in the first game you can find one and activate it and it tells you about prothean experiments on primitive humans.
@RaDnWave When you get back to The Normandy SR-2, you will get an "E-Mail" from Cerberus, that tells you that there was data in this orb, data about Biotic powers, and all that. Also, it tells you how the data was released; the flash.
@crabclaw85 Protheans colonised the galaxy and the galaxy is so big that (as Richard Krauss puts it) rare stuff happens all the time. Think about it, if only 1% of habitable planets have Prothean remains and there are thousands of habitable planets, then you have dozens of planets with Prothean stuff ;)
@crabclaw85 because shepard is a pimp. this reminds me of the scene from ME1 if you wait to get liara until she is the only main story mission left before ilos she rants about how she spent 50 years trying to find anything useful of the protheans and then "you come and tell me that all these answers just fell into your lap. IT JUST ISN'T FAIR."
Calling it right now: these things become more important in ME3, maybe even essential to defeat the Reapers.

@markoran1111222 Its' a reference to the book Sphere by Micheal Crichton.

Found this shit on Eletania in ME1... Those Pyjacks there have more impact in the story than the orb...

Shephard: I hate these things.

You know, the Protheans left "remarkably little behind" so why is all this crap lying around everywhere?
crabclaw85 1 year ago 21
@crabclaw85 Agreed. Their junk is everyware. And it's all useless to the story.

@MarkArandjus I know that. I was saying because they always say that the protheans left so little behind and you always find things from them
