I bought the reissue Reverberocket. It's a 50- watt 2x12 combo with a beautiful clean tone. It almost soinds like a cross between a Fender and a Vox.
I love it. The clean tones from this amps are gorgeous - great for rock, blues or jazz. The distortion is OK. At lower gain settings, it's good for blues style playing.
beautiful sound. too bad Ampeg didn't put Reverb on this one - if they make a small 15W amp of this quality with trem, rev, and distortion, I'm buying it right away . . . even if it would be very expensive
Disappointing demo. 6V6's don't distort as much as other tubes? That depends on what you feed them!
Also, not all Rock and Roll is ultra-high gain distortion with v-shaped eq. Would that amp would probably sound pretty good with some Stones-style rhythm guitar, Dick Dale or Link Wray? I guess we won't know, nor will we know how it sounds with anything but that guy's sound on the #4/#5 positions. The video cuts off when he says "let's try another guitar".. is there going to be a follow up?
I totally agree. This amp does crunch real nice and it's pretty loud. Definitely up for the surf stuff but not as tight in the low end as the BF amps. I've played big rooms (500 seater) without mic'ing it up. I now have a Vintage30 in mine and I've shelved the stock Alnico. I added a Bias Pot and the 6V6's distort well now that it's biased hotter than it comes from the factory. The bright input sucks so I removed the bright cap. I will post a clip soon...
true there, you feed those 6v6's a les paul that thing is gonna get killer early breakup--strats are so incredibly low output, i think thats why keith richards said fender guitar/amps work best with each other. they need more amps like this, it sounds silly but- i think its the reason why we have a not so great music scene now--no focus on learning to play first, straight for the max distortion/effects and doodle around and thats it. sit those kids down with an amp like this and watch them sweat
Thanks for the demo... This amp is also a killer Blues/R&B amp with an LP or a Fat Tele. I love this amp but it has a couple of issues. The stock AlNiCo Speaker is weak IMO, it "cries" bad when the amp is past 7 on vol. I tried mine through a G12H30, a Gold AlNiCo and G12T75. Cone cry is not present in any of those speakers. My fav speaker for this amp is the G12H30. The Stanby "click" is common on these amps, there is still some residual HT voltage on the plates when in standby. No huge deal.

Ampeg has stopped making this particular model. You’ll have to buy a used amp. I found mine on Ebay.

I discovered that the lead guitarist from Kings Of Leon uses two of these amps while on tour. The video is on YouTube.

not to be that guy but uh... what's the song in the intro? i feel like it's a rock and roll standby but can't quite think of the name or the writer!

I just got mine.
Despite some complaints about the speaker in reviews I found the speaker to be one of the amp's shining features.
Not even broken in it sounds chunky full and with a sweet midrange...kinda Fenderish.
You pick this amp up and it just feels of high quality.Very well built, quite loud and very easy to carry/transport.
Nice.

Can you please tell me how you are recording the amp, and about your mic? What is it all going into? Thanks.

You've got a headset mic and a mic on the amp; why does it still sound like built in camera mic? It's even clipping!

Gearwire is doomed to suck for all eternity. Never ceases to amaze me.

Ampeg promotion blows(what few there are).
The amp has exceptional features(large alnico magnet speaker,pine cab,PTP wiring,good components,tube rectifier,tube tremolo)....)*Costly* quality stuff for sure yet ...
Hey Ampeg!!!Listen up!
We need REAL SAMPLES to listen to.This guy hosting knows little about the amp he's describing.
