Plus, he decided to ram on thru mine field roads instead sending out his panzergrenadiers to clear the road with the mine detectors. That cost him a couple panthers and a half-track.
It's not all what if's...the bridgehead was key to Antwerp. Learn from his mistake.

He was an excellent soldier and commander, and deserves it.
I make this comment based upon a book I read, gotten from the city library. I have no intend on making any ideological statements. The Peiper Group retrieved and captured an American supply convoy and pulled them up aside the road in Malmedy. One German started shooting his pistol towards the Americans (PTS?) and they all started to run as would anybody do. In return the Peiper group opened up fire with tragic results.

Kampfgruppe Peiper went in with 5,000 men and came out with 800 if I am not mistaken. It fought heroically in the last major German offensive of the war and is a symbol of the extreme amount of professionalism and courage deplayed by the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS even at the very end of the war.

During Ardenneroffensive earli days they surrenderd in thousends when the german SS broke through. Only the weather saved the allied so they could start use the airforce more effectively.

Jochen Peiper was one of the greatest commanders that ever lived - his set up at the Malmedy trials was a travesty of justice. The brave US Major, who was previously Peipers POW, and stood up for him at the trial will never ever be forgotton for saving him from the hangman.

Can't anyone see what heroes the entire germany military were? These men went to their deaths. They fought to the very last man to were the germany army had to recruit children and old men to defend berlin because all ther experenced soldiers were ethier dead or fighting to the death somewere giving the last fight. I am Russian, my grandfather fought and was wounded near Leningrad. In qualitative terms, the army of Germany was the best in the world, we managed to win it at the expense of the vast number of victims. In each country had its own ideology, which now can be challenged. But each country had its own heroes of the war. Like Russia, Germany, too, can rightly be proud of their heroes, such as Peiper. He was an excellent soldier and commander, and deserves it.

I make this comment based upon a book I read, gotten from the city library. I have no intend on making any ideological statements. The Peiper Group retrieved and captured an American supply convoy and pulled them up aside the road in Malmedy. One German started shooting his pistol towards the Americans (PTS?) and they all started to run as would anybody do. In return the Peiper group opened up fire with tragic results.

The reason they lost was due to Hitlers stupidy and the fact that Germany was fighting a war on two fronts. Not only that that the army was running out of experencied soldiers and their was also a lot of secrecy which hampered peipers advance during the battle of the bulge. Kampfgruppe Peiper went in with 5,000 men and came out with 800 if I am not mistaken. It fought heroically in the last major German offensive of the war and is a symbol of the extreme amount of professionalism and courage deplayed by the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS even at the very end of the war.

During Ardenneroffensive earli days they surrenderd in thousends when the german SS broke through. Only the weather saved the allied so they could start use the airforce more effectively.

Jochen Peiper was one of the greatest commanders that ever lived - his set up at the Malmedy trials was a travesty of justice. The brave US Major, who was previously Peipers POW, and stood up for him at the trial will never ever be forgotton for saving him from the hangman.
