When I was in Thailand in January--kicking around. Some backpackers and other tourists,told me that Sri Lanka is the hot place to visit right now. fairly inexpensive,once you get outside of Columbo and very beautiful,with friendly,easy-going people. Maybe like Thailand used to be,before it became too touristy and lost its mojo. I will visit Sri lanka.

Too many politicians have misused their power to further their own interest and the interest of people of there own 'kind'. There have always been racists and Sinhalese nationalists in the country but there have also been brave and selfless Sinhalese people such as Dr Brian, CBK and all those people who gave refuge to the Tamils during Black July. Right now all the good people in SL, Sinhalese, Tamil and miscellanous, are at the mercy of self serving Barbarians. The only way to change this is for us to unite and revolutionise the culture of Sri Lanka.

I think its a nihilistic nation which probably only prospered because of the atrocities commited by its governement and military during WWII. The political setup ever since the JR administration has ensured that Lanka's politicians think only about themselves and their Party- not the good of the country. @ReindeerLegs I dont think its just a matter of eductation. Its a matter of character too. Most of SL's politician are self-serving and have collectivist values. This is why they are prone to not just corruption but also to nepotism, nationalism and even genocide. We need politicians like Chandrika who always think about others first and will therefore take a stand against corruption and racism and work for reconciliation and justice. We also need to change the culture of SL.

To foster an illusion that Sri Lanka is some utopia is yet another injustice to the victims of genocide and I do not want to ignore serious war crimes just to bring tourism to the people who may have been complicit in those war crimes. If anything SriLanka should suffer economic and social consequences for the actions of its governement.

its a very beautiful place with an average temperature 20 C.u can see many things over there including botanical gardens and fascinating tea estates.

Its 4 hours away from Colombo.Grand hotel is one of the best hotels in Nuwara eliya.

Eliya and she asked me to skip all those places and to stay few days in Nuwara Eliya.. she said it's the best in Srilanka.. what about Burewala beach.. If u want to see the beaches,corals,can do boat rides and many more in Hikkaduwa,Bentota areas are the best

There are many luxury hotels ..

these cities are also just 3-4 hours away from colombo.these places are little bit warm nowadays.

There is no dangerous places in Sri lanka ..There were dangerous places (only nothern sri lanka - city callesd Jaffna) but I must say now nowhere else in the sri lanka is dangerous ..

100 % safe ..

In anuradhapura.polonnaruwa,sigir­iya areas u can see many things which are related to ancient time ..(when kings were ruling sri lanka ..with the history of 2500 years)

dont forget to go to sigiriya. Sigiriya (Lion's rock) is an ancient rock fortress and palace ruin situated in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka,(4-5 hours from colombo)
