Lotus was one of the real chinks of light in the final 15 years of their career and showed that they could still kick ass as they used to. Even Stipe's movements recall the glory days of 10 years before.
R.E.M. sounds so wonderful in these smaller venues. It would be impractical for them to do shows or tour with these sites in mind, but how great it would be. In 1985, I saw them in a small auditorium (like a college performance theater). It was a rare experience. They had not hit the big time yet. There were empty seats and acoustic room to breathe.
