I think what they meant when they said "safeguard the race" back then was more along the lines of not wanting to become a byword in the eyes of other nations as a drunken, disorderly lot. To preserve Great Britain's reputation at the time as a fine upstanding, clean living nation. They had the best intentions, but really, "Are we... better than others? No! We...are all guilty of sin. As the Scriptures say: "'There is no one who always does what is right, not even one.'"
To consider being born a "white, anglo-saxon and protestant" is the same as saying blacks are your enemies or being born latino and Catholic is a curse. Civil rights are good but it has been taken to such an extreme that it is quite alright to be racially predjudiced against whites and be very upfront about it. Hardly anyone will speak against you because they might be construed as racist. Bizarre. We're all of the human race and that's the end of it.

Yes indeed. I'd certainly think so, and I'd be quite right. To be born White Anglo-saxon and protestant must surely be a curse. I wouldn't wish that upon my worse enemies. But wait! My enemies are White Anglo-saxon and Protestant.
@KungfuCow5 Yes true to an extent. I've never hated anyone without a good reason to. Until those Norman barbarians came and tore Ireland, Wales and Englands heritage apart. Sure the Irish were welding the axe against each other long before there ever was an England, but the English have planted these White Protestants upon our soil. They call themselves British, the English call them Irish. We call them nomads.
@KungfuCow5 Who talking about Irish Republicism you dopey fucking cunt? You've just proved that you believe everything begins and ends with White Norman England. You need to read the real fucking history.

the fact that one would even want to "safeguard" a race implies preference for that race. racial preferences are a slippery slope toward hate.

Hmm "safeguarding the race" now is looked upon as backward evil hatred isn't it ?!

@angels77100 Read a fuckin' history book. The founding fathers of Irish republicanism were protestant. Wolfe Tone, Parnell...
