could you redo this vid! i liked this vid because i have an all original 1938 LT-38 and i have planned on starting it! i just cant belive the power such a small engine like that has! mine is as about as nice as they come gently used! it will run! do you know what the small l shaped knob does under the gas tank? is it something to do with the fuel mixture? i dont want to start mine until i know what that does
I could redo the vid but it would look kinda weird because the beginning was set to music and the engine sounds came in later. The small shaped knob behind the gas tank is the carburetor adjustment, which controls the fuel mixture. There is also an adjustment on the other side on these models for air mixture too.
my fuel valve seems just fine. it was stored inside and it still seems like it has a nice tight bushing. i just wanted to know that the little L shaped knob does before i try and start it.
the johnson Lt37 and Lt38 dont appear to be to common. good buy! i found mine! and mine is in about as good of shape as they come for basementfresh! it even still has most of its original johnson decals! it is 100% complete and original and needs nothing! so im lucky not to need parts but i wish you luck with yours!
nice!! i have an lt-38 in nice all original condition it fires with gas in the cylinders but i don't know the proper fuel mixture for old johnsons. also there is some type of needle valve on the side opposite from the carb it looks to be part of the fuel system but i dont know any ideas what it does???
mine was my grandpas. i had seen it in old black and white photos from one of his fishing trips with my mom when she was little. then one day i find the very engine from the photo lurking in the basement covered up awaiting its next fishing trip! it had been drained of all gas and prepped for storage so it truely needs nothing! maybe yours will turn out to be a good one! something more than a wall hanger!
And im proud off my 1958-60 Husqvarnqa Swedish Motor O.O !
Nice one :)

ok thanks i wondered if that had something to do with the mixture. but i wasnt sure because it is on the side opposite the carb.

it is the fuel shutoff petcock valve--dont touch it because it may leak if you upset the seating of the aged and compresssed and compacted bushing

And I thought my '58 was old...
Very nice motor. It runs so sweet. I just love these old johnsons. Very nice.

Nice engine. Doesn't need the soundtrack as it obscures the sound.
