@Goodspeedvids V8 Engines my friend. V8 engines were used in the 2006 season, they revved higher back then so thats why they have a higher pitched sound. The current regulations only allow the engines to rev to about 18-19,000 rpm.
@bicksters1 No they don't. Everyone has the same rules to build a car after, so it is just about finding the loopholes in the rules and being best at adapting to new technologies.
Sometime it is one of the established top teams that makes the best car after a rule change in 2009 it weren't.
Though partly because Honda (at the time) had dropped development of their 2008 car and went straight to 2009 giving them a head start. But everyone could have don the same thing.
@bicksters1 That isn't the rules fault that one team is better then the others.
It is just the fact that there has been a rule change. It widens the gap, but allows new players to join in.
For instance in '08, there was only two teams fighting, now we have 3 at the top, though Ferrari is behind atm. they are a great team and will make it back.
When the rules stay the same that usually narrows the gap, but the ranking in terms of top, midfield, bottom teams stays the same.
@bicksters1 I totally agree some races have been riveting but awful tracks like valencia are on the calender and awesome ones like imola are gone! all the cars have bad liveries like virgin and HRT and good drivers are being kicked out for pay drivers that are crap and to cap it all off only half teh races are live in 2012. what a joke.
It's sad, old F1 used to be the fastest cars on earth going around a circuit. You knew what you saw was the highest technological racing machine ever made.
Now with all the regulations, you know that they could be much faster. What made F1 exciting has been taken out.
I wanna see what we can do in 2012 compared to 2004.
Kimi is just amazing, the fastest driver on earth, he was fighting against drivers with faster cars, not only in 2006 but generally. Look at Montoya, 8th, and he was considered a very fast driver in formula one. Kimi is back for 2012 !!!
Kimi Raikkonen is the most talented, fast and fair driver in this generation. I mean when is the first time he block someone? He is always fair and clean in his battle with other drivers. F1 is never the same without YOU KIMI....
vettel reminds me of the old schumacher so much. i dont think he will ever get more wins or championships then him but if he stays with a competative car then i think he can get more poles than schumi did
@detheroc - I know. It's not Vettel who won the world championship in 2010, it was Adrian Newey. Vettel hasn't won 6 out of 8 races and scored 7 out of 8 pole positions this year, it was Adrian Newey. :/ / idiot
@Anime998877 Well why don't you say that Schumacher was at the front becaue or Rory Byrne and Ross Brawn, what the fuck are you on about of course they get good designers, they are good drivers and therefore go to good teams, twat
@MegaMrDamo - Lol relax. My comment was sarcastic. I know Vettel is one of the best. "Detheroc" was being a retard by saying Vettel is only at the front because of Adrian Newey so that pissed me off. Yes I acknowledge Vettel is a fantastic driver and actually my favourite driver in formula 1.
by that same logic, Adrian Newey is also the reason why Vettel had a spark plug problem in Bahrain, engine failures at Korea and in I think it was China? A brakes failure in Melbourne, all in 2010. Say it's Adrian Neweys work all you like but that doesnt take away from how much of a phenomenal driver Seb is
@SP1D3RMAN75 I thought it was turbo 4s? I guess Ferrari didn't like it so they met half way.
2006 was indeed a very good year. I started watching F1 that year and right before Michael retired. Every year since has progressively got worse, imo.
NOTHING!!!....at least not compared to those seasons all people claim was so much better!
We just has 6 great seasons from 2005-2010...this year one team/driver is dominant but that’s how it is sometimes...like 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 02, 04 just to mention some!
Strange cause people always keep referring to many of these seasons as the times "when F1 was exciting!"
Did anyone notice that the right horn (left in the image) of the Mclaren was not there?

Just if Kimi had got a car which wouldn't break because of..... air's resistence..... he'd have won those 2 wc's.
