i use virtual dj , wkd software and you can do most / all that you could do with the kit , djing on a pc does take a while to get the hang of but in the end you get the hang of it , you can pull of ya own mixes , do a karoake set , as the software can use the karaoke format ect , vist the site , more info there , thanks :)
It only cost me US$500 and the virtualdj an additional US$200...considering i spent US$700 and can compete and perform at the required levels of deejays who spent $300+ for SSL and hardware US$1000 each for CDJS and a mixer on average...a total over 3 grand...i am currently enjoying myself at clubs and weddings...and am currently saving to purchase a pair of cdj2000 a djm2000 and a novation launchpad...but im so contended im not in a hurry
simply connectivity results from only plugging the usb directly to your laptop and then your rca or 1/4 to your amps or mixers or what have you. it allows me to perform remixes live and flawless and on par with deejays using ssl....
virtualdj 7 professional with the Hercules DJ Console 4mx.
It's great...a pc that has at least 2gb ram and a dual core 2 processor will run this program flawlessly mixing non video content...This console allows you to mix using 4 decks, has all the necessary audio inputs and outputs to connect with ease...it is extremely portable and allows for sampling, looping juggling scratching and is usb powered....
I use traktor and its amazing whit all the things you can do example loop, scratch, add efects like flanger delay and other stuff, you also have 12 playlist so you can name a playlist and choose what music you are going to put in it i lpve traktor because its very flexible in all of your dj use
I use virtual vinyl and it sucks, I had it for five months and im having problems with the left deck it plays when it wants and it pauses and plays back. I use a Dell laptop and two DN-HS5500 with the virtual vinyl time coad. can some one help me Email me At djgiggin@gmail.com
I use torq 1.5.2 based on win xp SP3... price is good look of the mixmod is ok... VST Effects can be used... that is great... handling as time goes by you get better and better to switch to other programms maybe on a party where another dj use SSL is difficult... because torq set up the BPMs up and down so can see it... SSL do not have this opton... scratching yes on my version it works great... because you have an option called anti skip... the scratch sencetivity is good no very good...
I Use, a Numark NDX 200, Torq, Virtual DJ 7 on Windows 7, Looking to Upgrade to a soundcard for Torq, right now I just use a Y Cable into the mixer, so my PC is a channel on the mixer by itself. Im am soon getting the TORQ soundcard.
I use torq with two midi controllers. Xponent and Oxygen 8 v2. Its features are perfect but it is fairly. I havent had any problems for the last few weeks but i did have to reinstall the drivers and Torq software already. One tip, if you are using music on an external hard drive, make sure its plugged directly into your computer (i had mine plugged into a usb hub on my monitor, which caused an audio cut out when i would load a song). Recently I've really come to love it.
I've been using Traktor before the timecoded vinyls era - I love the program, it has great scratch emulation. Nowadays I use Image Line Deckadance which is still fresh but works fine - the best thing is that it supports a lot of timecoded vinyls (Traktro, Torque, Serato, Pinky, MixVibes...). In my opinion it has some issues with the latency, but it might be the problem with my gear setup. My current setup: Deckadance/Mixvibes DVS & Esi Maya44 USB - cheap!!! and working fine. Video coming soon!
I use Virtual Dj 6.01 software running Windows 7.... 64 Bit O/s with my Ion Icue Dj Controller/mixer, I am soon upgrading to a better controller/mixer to a Herculers MK4 that has a built in audio interface to allow you to plug in head phones directly in to the controller for Monitoring the Pre ques for next track on the deck, i call this pre que monitoring that other digital controllers is missing or had to buy a separate audio interface just to do this. 73. P&Enjoy
I use M-Audio xponent with torq software its nice but i think looking on a program isnt djing its cheating djing shold be all about the sound not the program
I going to be new to d-jaying soon. I want to start off with a hercules RMX, then buy 2 turntables and hook it up to virtual-dj, using a sound card and timecode vinyl's. Pretty epic setup IMO.
Traktor le + numark omni control. -cheap and +fun. traktor got syncs, effects, filters, loops, everything. numark omni control get your fingers on all of that..
if your using any usb inter face e.g torq serato and the rest use clean power cos once u get in the club with that setup u are going to crash crash crash strobes smoke machines any thing like that is not ur friend its going to fuck u up also get top end usb cables (with the faret balls or wat ever they are they helped to)
i went to pc awhile back and i dont love it but it does help with the fileing and now i got midi controlers as well and all diffrent other goodies i can mix with out practice of lurning songs can spend more time finding better songs :) peace djhi
i used pioneer cdj 800 when i was using cds .they were good then went to virtual dj /it save time n money cuz i was spinnin mp3 files .now im on torq n i love it .its like having all your vinyl with u at your fingertips .but its all bout how u like to dj
I play my music from Traktor ScratchPro and control it with a DJM-800, two cdj 1000s(used to control the bottom two decks), a MPD 32(controls cue points and global functions), and two Kontrol x1s(looping,browsing, and loading) .
I was virtualDj atm and I used to think its amazing and so good to use and so and it is because you can pull of really good mixes and so on with the use of cue points and samplers and most of all the sny button and thats all good but I've come to realise after looking into how to dj with vinylvirtualdj is basically just for people who dont know how to dj properly any idiot can press a sync button and move a crossfader but it takes skill to dj with vinyl and beat matching properly.
@Danstreettssssss i dont use the sync buttons! i do it the old-fashioned way with the pitchfader of my tablez! and if you use the prog. in a professional, more advanced way its really difficult. by the way it takes a lot more as only hit the sync button and pull the fader to do a perfect harmonic, good timed transition. its a whole different thing to use vdj with timecode vinylz!
hey there i'm using virtuald pro 6.8 with serato scratch vinylz and a omnitronic ddi 4x4 asio interface. and i think its the best solution for timecode djs because you have more opportunitys to manipulate the music live and its very customizable you can set it up for all your needs! and you can mix videos amazingly good without buying expensive plugins. i tested traktor scratch and serato before and i like both of them but vdj has a lot more options to deal with! it has the best relative mode
@ddjwhitelines yes you can can use the cdj 1000. but you need a timecoded cd instead of the vinylz. you can download the timecode from virtual dj.com and burn it to cd, you dont need to buy one. by the way you can use any turntable, cd player or midi controller with virtual dj. and there a tons of skins that look like pioneer deckz theres even one for the cdj 1000!
i really believe that it doesn't matter witch software you use or which one is better, rather than if the person djing has a great knowladge in music,i belive that if the person can make people dance and make the listeners enjoy the music he is playing, to me that is a great dj, ive seen people have the software beat match, but their seleccion of music is just not good, so my opinion it doesn't matter what you use to dj, what matter is how you put a performance together. and make peoples night
Traktor pro is what i use, hopefully upgrading soon to scratch pro. Its great, great sound quality, 4 decks, 20+ effects, easy to use.what more could u ask for? how bout being compatible with kontrol x1 and maschine and tons of other midi controllers. btw, cheaper then ssl and sounds better and more responsive, in my opinions and professional opinions (check out qberts video). definately use traktor, its amazing
Really when you actually do unbiased research on SSL vs Traktor, its a no brainer what one is better. Traktor always wins out in my opinion. It has better sound quality, its more responsive without digital distortion at super low speeds which speaks to better sound quality, it has effects that can be integrated with kontrol X1 and maschine, it can record, it offers 4 channels and for all of this its cheaper than SSL. No brainer, the only reason people don't use it in north america its unfamiliar
10. DJ Decks(Thats the name of the program)(I can't see anything on this piece of crap) 9. djay(Simple iTunes program) 8. Virtual DJ(Best for beginners but never to be used in a pro live set) 7. PC DJ(Same goes with this) 6. Mixvibes(and definitely this) 5. Mixx(Open source) 4. FinalScratch(Old freakin' thing) 3.Torq 2.Traktor Scratch Pro/Serato Scratch Live(Both are equal in capability and both have their cons and pros) And lastly 1.Ableton Live(Not just a production studio you know)
now im using torq, which is something i dont really recommend. i got it coz it was a lot cheaper than Traktor or Serato. but i should have put in that extra cash and gotten those two others. the problem with torq is, it cant be launched unless the torq soundcard is plugged in, which is stupid coz maybe u wanna go thru ur songs and set up cues and adjust bpms. also the software is horrible at detecting actul bpm, which is a pain in the neck coz when ure sorting songs by bpm you will be all over.
it think this is a great idea. wish i had bumped into this video before i bought my kit so what i started with: Virtual DJ Regular HP Laptop Hercules DJ Console RMX current Setup: 2x staton t.60 numark 5000fx Hercules DJ Console RMX (i use it as a midi trigger) Torq having used VDJ and curretly using TORQ, id say VDJ is great for beginners. its simple, easy to figure out and has loads of neat features like live sampling (which auto syncs with the actual mix being played). but its a lil cheap
Pro DJ 21 years now. I use CDJ 400s and 1000 Mk3s however when using software I use Trakor Scratch with Time Coded CDs or sometime's Traktor LE with the Numark Omni Controller they are all solid.
I love my DVS. I mean, don't get me wrong, I still use vinyl from time to time, its just that I got tired of 'hunting' them. And if I do find them, they're very expensive here in Japan! For a bedroom DJ like me who doesn't make money out of DJing (I do it 'coz it's my passion),
i find ableton live as the best host for effects. you can pass the signal through it (maybe with a multichannel soundcard) and control the effect w/ mouse and keyboard or w/ a midi controller, or both.
if you don't want to use external sw as like as traktor etc. you can also sync up the tracks into audio clips and use the internal engine as a virtual mixer with virtually unlimited decks (2 3 4...64!)
i use ableton because it shits on anything else when live mixing, other than that i use traktor for fun more than anything else, it offers the right amout of features and sounds great so that if i ever needed to dj in the traditional sense it has me covered
virtual dj is ok but i have trouble with stability could be my computer but touch dvs which is cheap works fine on the same computer though it doesnt do video as yet i may try serato soon as i have heard nothing but good things about it and they do video but i will have to check if i need to get a better pc timecode and direct midi systems take alot of processor power especially when using video which is what i would like to do but i will probably need to save a bit for a better pc
im new to djing and i have a set of mk2's and a djm400. i want to go digital but not sure what to go with. some say serato, and some say traktor, and of course theres others such a torque. any feed back on wich direction i should go would be much appreciated! thanks.
no not to my knowledge...i dont believe it matters what mixer you are using but ive heard stories where people tend to struggle when trying to get serato to work right on CDJs. your pioneers should play it find though
i like virtual dj...I usually remix instrumentals and acapellas and sometimes movie or television i do it only for fun but I've seen real dj's at bars using the same product with a different skin.
the only reason I switched to digital dj-ing, is so that I can carry 2000 plus songs on a laptop, instead of carrying around 10 crates, full of vinyls.... don't get me wrong, I love vinyls, but it is just easier for me to move around.
my onest opinion it can be don just whith the right tools and the right system set up good .aspect coment practice and enjoy and for jonathan something about a big sistem veniu in another youtube film with that theme
1 using a proper pc or mac with a big procesor inside and also o good sound card internal or external,i don t advice to use one with a very big giga memory because you don t need my freind,10 giga it is more then enouth,2use a original compatible software with your controler that s make conection between pc and controler and set up very propretly in advance,3 you think oh i don t need a controler think again about that ,4always have a spare ordinary sistem for back up,pc and stuff
hy freinds ,and specialy jonathan dj tutor i am Dj.GabrieLU or Gabriel from Luxembourg but romanian origin how start this film ,sow some litle time i start doing dj also pc dj and i am using virtual dj and m audio exponent ,sow i have some advice if you permeted how use only pc dj on a gig it is a braive man ,maybe not a pro,if you think started like a pc dj make sure
@Djspikey2010 hey thanks ive told my perants about this setup they like it thank so much i can now dj proply and not use that virtual dj crap.... thank oh and i subbed :)
pros is that for a dj tht spins with vinyls wen he has a gig he doesnt need to hav all does crates of vinyls all he needs now is a sound card and his turntablles. the cons about havin a sound card is tht its more pricy in every way. u need a reliable lap top or pc, you have to buy the sound card, and if you want the best u'l be spendin a good 700 to 900$. n for djs like me tht hate workin with comp for the facts tht it makes ur life complicated n it never 100% sure your program wont crash
15 years of my djiing work experience the equipment around me keep evolving... I've been using vinyl and mastered it way back when the cd's not yet invented .. as a pro DJ i have to adopt any DJ tools that exists from the past and near future, so that I won't be left behind.... Technology changes then we have to admit the reality that the vinyl and the cd's will be left behind in the next future....
Have tried everyone of the them and I'm a traktor fan! Virtual dj was where i started....it is easy to jump straight into and has the most intuitive interface (N.I. Could learn from them) but as far as power and function its gotta be traktor.
Started with Mixxx and one Serato control record. Now I have the full Serato setup and it's so much better and more responsive. I sold my CDJ 400 to get it and I'm not looking back. But my DJ buddy is big into scratching and uses Torq so if it's good enough for scratching it should be good enough for anyone.
I have Digital DJ Pro and to be honest...I love it, just load your tracks into the players, sync the BPM and away you go....well not quite. it does take sum practice and more often than not my partner has come home to find me practicing on it instead of doing the tea. i do have turntables but they are used to convert my vinyls to MP3 so i can use them. so ok heres the "up's" easy sync of bpm and cue-ing plus u have all the mixer on screen. "Downs" you need to have a 3/4 channel soundcard.
Hey, I have The Virtual Vinyl system from Numark. I want to know if I can use the Hardware (interface) with other program, NO Numark Cue or Virtual DJ????? thanx!!!!! nice vid.
i use serato i have used others but serato is the best to me it come with its own music website with downloads that only work on serato so u get good quality downloads the software is constantly being upgraded with new features that u can download for free torque is good but is roughf on your laptop and tractor has glitches
I use traktor pro... like it... I buy a xponent and they come with torq, I dont think I will use torq with my xponent, because traktor pro have more effect with better quality, and if I want to sracht, the scratch sound is way better then torq!!
I used traktor scratch using turntable or CDJs, depends whichever i wanna use haha. Using a computer makes things so much easier. No fannying about with CDs or Vinyls
Ive been doing FL studio mixing for a bit which i didnt think it was a good idea because it got me tired for awhile. Then I started doing Virtual DJ mixes followed by DJ Ravines tutorial. In the maintime I decided to add afew challenges to my virtual DJ mixes. I use headphones to beatmatch the song without using the sync/magic beatmatch button and Oldskool skin which allows me to hide the waveform.
Im a club DJ over 20 years now. All of the units I use I have the master music output coming from the unit controller and not the PC. CDJ400 also work OKish with Traktor but took me ages to set up. Oh Abelton is also hot but works better if your doing a pre-planned DJ set. Last of all CDJ400s are much better than CDJ1000's MK3. Pitch correction on the CDJ1000 MK3 is no where near as good as the CDJ400s. For DJing on the Cheap get the Behringer BCD3000 with free Traktor LE Software.
hey does anyone know, if i buy say numark vdj and i get all the virtual vynil ect,,,if i buy a better quality virtual vynil say from traktor will it work??? thanks all
On the PC side I find that Traktor Scratch is solid ( on a PC with Win XP), I can also confirm that Traktor or Traktor LE with Behringer BCD 3000 or the Numark Omni Control is also very good and will not let you down. Dont however get the earlier Behringer BCD units as the master outputs are noisey ( same with the Numark IDJ2, if you already have on turmn the master volume down and turn the channel volumes up to their max ) .
I use Torq with Timecode Vinyls. I like this prog. a lot!! You can scratch with it, it woorks wonderful and it sounds realy good. But when you have the money, I would say...buy SSl
i have seen that virtual dj can work in conjunction with 2 cdj 400's BUT i tried it with my cdj 400's and it didn't work i think it doesn't work for me because my vdj version is to old and i can't updat it because i use a cracked version for now until i have the money to buy the real one
i think there is one very big malus about dj software:
they all dont have a goo integrated Musik library!!!!!!
I realy love djing with VDJ and Timecode CDs, but i so much miss a graphic media library like in WMP11 where i realy can see all album covers and have a lot of option to sort it and find excactly what i want. most of the time i seach what i want to play in wmp11 and than ply it on vdj....
Ive been using digital vinyl since the early beginning of it. I think its the only solution for anybody who wants to DJ regular but also wants to use modern effects and tools. I can still use turntables, and it brings DJing to a whole other level with so much more control and fantastic extras. It saves me so much time and money finding records and with my music collection always at my disposal, Im always prepared for any crowd!
Been playing with TSP since Nov. 08. What I like about it is that you have the on board effects, 4 decks, internal mixer, but most of all I like the fact that I can manipulate mp3's with actual vinyl ( got the white TS vinyl). I have been playing with records for 20+ yrs, and carrying wax around can be troublesome. Now I just put my laptop, audio dj8,headphones, and external HD in the bag and go. This is key if you plan to travel as a dj, the airlines will eat up your dj profits for shipping.
i use traktor scratch pro and, i can play cds/vinyl and mp3 all in one program. Comes with control CD's and vinyl for the software which has a very good responce time on the lowest of spec laptops. if you have cdj's you can pop the CD into the CD/DVD rom of the Laptop and load the track directly from the CD and mix :D pretty cool huh. so you can mix, cd with vinyl/ mp3 with cd or mp3 with vinyl.
i think of buying traktor scratch pro but i dont know the difference between the pro and duo->(which is the new one).... can someone tell me what should i get for better performance...? (scratch dj's)
thanks in advance
p.s. (the only thing i know is that traktor scratch pro includes an audio 8 and traktor scratch duo an audio 4 dj....)
I use Ableton, it's great! Modern digitaly recorded tracks are presice but an old 80's track or an MP3 which was ripped from vinyl will go in & out of sync. Ableton allows you to tidy it up so no need for tweaking the pitch all the time. To save money you can rip tracks from a compilation CD and make your own extended versions for when you play out.
Ableton is good but it's so much more fun with my CDJ 1000's
hi Im using virtual dj rite now.. I play any kind of music, esp hip hop.. the reason im using it coz it is cheaper than any kind of dj tools and it's a powerful software!! I can mix songs in an easy way, but the bad point is I cant scratching! coz I dun hav any turntables or mixer, Im just using my PC..its kinda hard for student like me to buy technics or sum kinda thing like that..but I'll buy it in the future, music is very2 important to me! Dj Flowne
hi i use traktor pro, the best thing about it is you have effects, also instead of flicking through you record box you can just flip the control vinyl to load the next track. feels just like spinning vinyl, i never use sink because breaks are hard to get the right bpm using the software, especially drum n bass
I use Torq because it takes Djing to the next level for me as far as midi,fx,recording and looping on the fly and the sound quality is amazing.Serato is cool if your just a simple dj i used to have it but i felt jipped for the price
i used torq with the xponent. im a girl and i got the xponent because i thought it would be a good thing because it was easy to move around.... its trash!!! it crashed on my so many times in the middle of gigs. so i just recently upgraded to pioneer cdj800s and serato... im not sure how i feel about serato i dnt really like the display at all and i dont like how the crates work... i think i might go back to torq but use my cdjs and a mixer.
Playing Videos is illegal in this country unless you have purchased, and are playing the original video format. ITunes sell software ready digital video files ( Check compatibility), but cos of the file compression and very low resolution, the broad-casted Video looks sh*t on 28"+ screens. Until a blanket licence is available to rip DVDs or a pro Video website is online, this or any other software is NOT a professional VJ's or V-D.J's choice.
Incredibly stable program regardless of which & how many features are being used together. Assuming you have not got a pirate version or poor PC you should never expect a problem. Many retailers now report this software as most dependable in the world.
im using a behringer 3000 dj controller on a virtual dj 5.2 works great EXCEPT IT FREEZES UP EVERY 10 MIN . I HAVE TO GO BACK AND RECOFIGER. CANSOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS FREEZING PROBLEM
behringer 3000's have numerous problems and theres a heap of info on gogle about it. They just arent the best kit at the end of the day. i switched over to the torq controller from m-audio. not rediculously expensive but very very reliable! ive even seen a few vids on here about repairing the torq if it goes bad
I used the Behringer 2000 which is the same thing, and it is not the best thing out there, but it works. The problem is that it uses USB 1.1 and it loses conection when the bandwith hits the limit. So keep everything else USB disconected when using it. Also, your computer config is always most likely the cause of crashes. Find a way to clean it up.
ive tryed loads in the past, and i find numark cue the easy`st 1 by far, get no lag on an old pc and i can use all my midi controllers with it, vdj lagged realy bad
I'm using Virtual DJ with Serato Scratch skin. It's the only stable software so far with plenty of features for my Aspire One 9" laptop. It's the only skin that's fits in a 9" laptop. Alot of the DJ software out there has not yet developed a 1024 x 600 resolution for these mini laptop wonders.
if ur Dj ing as a hobby use whatever but the best programs out now r sarato (if u got money) and Torq (if ur keeping cost down) both are solid programs. I used sarato for shows but i stick to the cortex mostly
can i use traktor3 in conjuction with a djm800 midi mapping each chanel from traktor onto the mixer and also run it through a behringer uca202 any advice
just got my xponent w/torq last april, i love it, easy to carry/transport/hassle free(though we need a back pack maybe just enough to carry it anywhere (got 200 gig of mp3,s wav., etc) though it crashed on me one party it was because of my friend dj's laptop (low RAM and maybe a virus). with torq you can do remix on the fly/ record it and mix it right away. effects and samples are way better than any other softwares. xponent is the best tool for torq secondary is conectiv. 10/10 for m_audio.
Hey Julius, I found a bag that works perfect. I purchased the Novation 25-key Gig Bag after realizing that the Xponent was approx. the same size as a 25-key controller. The bag works perfectly for the Xponent. The Xponent fits in the main compartment, laptop in the front laptop compartment, USB/RCA cables in the front zipper compartment, Xponent power cable in one side pouch, laptop power cable in the other side pouch and its all heavily padded. It has back-pack straps or a single sling strap.
i use serato, i found serato a very user friendly software/interface, just because the serato's visual aid is very easy to read, very accurate, and overall very stable,i have yet to use any other software but will try them out in the future to see which one i really like but right now ill stick with serato, thats just my opinion...
i have torq and don't like it. you have to do too much on the computer and not the decks, it takes away from the showmanship. i am looking at serato right now, but ditched torq and went back to cds.
i was trying to change the firmware but it wasnt working for me. Plus I never added the new firmware. so now its not responding to my computer. i think its still in that mode (Firmware mode) THANK U!!!!
i use zulu dj software pros-great for mobiles cause you can edit out the intro of songs cons- no playlist but very easy to use i recommend it to any mobile dj
i recommend traktor scratch with traktor dj studio 3, use both of them and more higher sound quality then other dj softwares... the good things with traktor u should watch the tutorial video of traktor dj studio 3 or traktor scrach...
if u want to buy a better skills dj software with the audio interface the traktor scratch is the best and its cost u exepensive.. maybe the price is same with the another dj softwares but u must have ur laptop with high specs for example minimum 2 gb memory (ram) and 2007 specs pc or mac to get better performance...
the bad things for using traktor let me tell u; if u r djing in a night club with the another deejays u should connect the cables to the mixer while the another dj is performing it reaaly bad point. and the another thing if ur dj friend want to use traktor scratch with ur hardware and his pc cant do that cause he have to buy one and register it... but scratch live is better here cuz anyone who have pc can share the one audio interface
I have used both and VDJ is easier to use but if you take the time to learn Traktor it is so much better. I have found the Beat counter to be better and more accurate as well as the wave form more accurate and easier to read. The beatGrid on Traktor reduces the inaccuracies that may occur and gives a way to fix them. While VDJ might be better for people without hardware Traktor is great with ot without.
Of course computer dj softwares can crash after a few hours but cds can skip as well so don`t take that as en excuse, you always have to be prepared with ANOTHER source. For club djs, forget the vinyls, they`re for mcing, rapiping and nigga stuff, cds are going out soon ,This is the milenium folks, the world is DIGITAL,so you can still impress only using mp3s ...
you're a moron. You have expressed here no thoughts or opinions which adhere to a rational framework. And you're a racist to boot. We need less weak-willed, preteen, loudmouths, of which you may be royalty, on youtube. Get the hell out.
Imagine: you, dj ing your harddisk collection, with a turntable/ cd player
Best of both worlds! I love traktor scratch.
I think a lot of dj's will go to timecode and will stop buying cd's. They will download music (itunes or beatport) and mix it up with their turntables or cd players. Check 'traktor scratch' in google. Turntable + pc = total control that is fun and looks SMOOTH.
scratch any sound on your computer... Just record your own voice, record noises, rip your cd's and scratch it all
I use a Behringer UCA-202 USB interface to connect my laptop to my mixer, which cost me about £25. I originally used it to record my mixes (using Audacity), but then realised I could re-route it to output to a spare channel on my mixer. Now I can mix vinyl into any mp3 on my laptop. I found another freeware program called Mixxx that allows you to play mp3s and output them via the USB, and also change pitch/EQ in real-time!
I'm pc dj :P :) i use traktor pro 1.1.2 its awesome program i don't have any complains about it its just awesome

"Vinyl smells good, like women do
Vinyl is unique, like women are
Vinyl looks good, like women do
Vinyl can break, like women do
Vinyl is real, like women are
The best are hard to find
Vinyl can cost a lot of money, but women do too
Vinyl can be heavy, women can be too
And like vinyl, i prefer them black"

virtualdj 7 professional with the Hercules DJ Console 4mx.

I play my music from Traktor ScratchPro and control it with a DJM-800, two cdj 1000s(used to control the bottom two decks), a MPD 32(controls cue points and global functions), and two Kontrol x1s(looping,browsing, and loading) .
LordHK007 1 year ago
I was virtualDj atm and I used to think its amazing and so good to use and so and it is because you can pull of really good mixes and so on with the use of cue points and samplers and most of all the sny button and thats all good but I've come to realise after looking into how to dj with vinylvirtualdj is basically just for people who dont know how to dj properly any idiot can press a sync button and move a crossfader but it takes skill to dj with vinyl and beat matching properly.
Danstreettssssss 1 year ago
@Danstreettssssss i dont use the sync buttons! i do it the old-fashioned way with the pitchfader of my tablez! and if you use the prog. in a professional, more advanced way its really difficult. by the way it takes a lot more as only hit the sync button and pull the fader to do a perfect harmonic, good timed transition. its a whole different thing to use vdj with timecode vinylz!
Schmerzstiller 1 year ago
hey there i'm using virtuald pro 6.8 with serato scratch vinylz and a omnitronic ddi 4x4 asio interface. and i think its the best solution for timecode djs because you have more opportunitys to manipulate the music live and its very customizable you can set it up for all your needs! and you can mix videos amazingly good without buying expensive plugins. i tested traktor scratch and serato before and i like both of them but vdj has a lot more options to deal with! it has the best relative mode
Schmerzstiller 1 year ago
@Schmerzstiller can u use all this with pioneer cdj 1000?? will it work?
ddjwhitelines 1 year ago
@ddjwhitelines yes you can can use the cdj 1000. but you need a timecoded cd instead of the vinylz. you can download the timecode from virtual dj.com and burn it to cd, you dont need to buy one. by the way you can use any turntable, cd player or midi controller with virtual dj. and there a tons of skins that look like pioneer deckz theres even one for the cdj 1000!
Schmerzstiller 1 year ago
i really believe that it doesn't matter witch software you use or which one is better, rather than if the person djing has a great knowladge in music,i belive that if the person can make people dance and make the listeners enjoy the music he is playing, to me that is a great dj, ive seen people have the software beat match, but their seleccion of music is just not good, so my opinion it doesn't matter what you use to dj, what matter is how you put a performance together. and make peoples night
djplg25 1 year ago
Traktor pro is what i use, hopefully upgrading soon to scratch pro. Its great, great sound quality, 4 decks, 20+ effects, easy to use.what more could u ask for? how bout being compatible with kontrol x1 and maschine and tons of other midi controllers. btw, cheaper then ssl and sounds better and more responsive, in my opinions and professional opinions (check out qberts video). definately use traktor, its amazing
Robot0Ninja 1 year ago
I use Numark Cue for my sets and it does everything I need it to do. No complaints
DNYLNY 1 year ago
Really when you actually do unbiased research on SSL vs Traktor, its a no brainer what one is better. Traktor always wins out in my opinion. It has better sound quality, its more responsive without digital distortion at super low speeds which speaks to better sound quality, it has effects that can be integrated with kontrol X1 and maschine, it can record, it offers 4 channels and for all of this its cheaper than SSL. No brainer, the only reason people don't use it in north america its unfamiliar

1. Traktor Pro
2. Serato SL
The rest are cheap attempts to copy Traktor and SSL
3. Deckadance
4.VDJ
5.V,vinyl
6.Torq
Timecode CDJs and Pure digital (with midi control and external mixing) (ex.traktor with a Xone4D and some midi control) are the future of DJing
Timecode vinyl will still have a place but now it will be timecode and more or less restricted to hip hop and rap.

now im using torq, which is something i dont really recommend. i got it coz it was a lot cheaper than Traktor or Serato. but i should have put in that extra cash and gotten those two others. the problem with torq is, it cant be launched unless the torq soundcard is plugged in, which is stupid coz maybe u wanna go thru ur songs and set up cues and adjust bpms. also the software is horrible at detecting actul bpm, which is a pain in the neck coz when ure sorting songs by bpm you will be all over.

i find ableton live as the best host for effects. you can pass the signal through it (maybe with a multichannel soundcard) and control the effect w/ mouse and keyboard or w/ a midi controller, or both.
if you don't want to use external sw as like as traktor etc. you can also sync up the tracks into audio clips and use the internal engine as a virtual mixer with virtually unlimited decks (2 3 4...64!)

pros is that for a dj tht spins with vinyls wen he has a gig he doesnt need to hav all does crates of vinyls all he needs now is a sound card and his turntablles. the cons about havin a sound card is tht its more pricy in every way. u need a reliable lap top or pc, you have to buy the sound card, and if you want the best u'l be spendin a good 700 to 900$. n for djs like me tht hate workin with comp for the facts tht it makes ur life complicated n it never 100% sure your program wont crash

I use Serato Scratch...Def recommend it, but make sure your pc can handle it if you scratch, if not, no big deal. The USB lag can be a pain.

DJXEL21 2 years ago 2
i use traktor scratch pro and, i can play cds/vinyl and mp3 all in one program.

Ableton is good but it's so much more fun with my CDJ 1000's

rob909e 3 years ago
how is traktor pro?
do you agree its slightly better than serato?
would you say traktor is a good software for hip hop or scratching?
ladj4ever 2 years ago
hi i use traktor pro, the best thing about it is you have effects, also instead of flicking through you record box you can just flip the control vinyl to load the next track. feels just like spinning vinyl, i never use sink because breaks are hard to get the right bpm using the software, especially drum n bass

do you think traktor pro or traktor scratch is better for scratching than serato?

Numark CUE/VDJ
- THE BAD -
Playing Videos is illegal in this country unless you have purchased, and are playing the original video format.

Numark CUE/VDJ
- THE GOOD -
Incredibly stable program regardless of which & how many features are being used together.

176362006 3 years ago
behringer 3000's have numerous problems and theres a heap of info on gogle about it. They just arent the best kit at the end of the day. i switched over to the torq controller from m-audio. not rediculously expensive but very very reliable! ive even seen a few vids on here about repairing the torq if it goes bad
ausdublin 3 years ago
check the latency the lower the better.. mines at 256 that should help
djskoolboi 3 years ago
I used the Behringer 2000 which is the same thing, and it is not the best thing out there, but it works. The problem is that it uses USB 1.1 and it loses conection when the bandwith hits the limit. So keep everything else USB disconected when using it. Also, your computer config is always most likely the cause of crashes. Find a way to clean it up.

ive tryed loads in the past, and i find numark cue the easy`st 1 by far, get no lag on an old pc and i can use all my midi controllers with it, vdj lagged realy bad

i use mixmiester, virtual dj & video edit magic, ive posted one of my mixes to this, theres loads of others on my channel.
the benefits to it is u can do a mix & then go back & add more stuff such as samples & stuff exactly where you want them.

I used sarato for shows but i stick to the cortex mostly

andyhardman777 3 years ago
just got my xponent w/torq last april, i love it, easy to carry/transport/hassle free(though we need a back pack maybe just enough to carry it anywhere (got 200 gig of mp3,s wav., etc) though it crashed on me one party it was because of my friend dj's laptop (low RAM and maybe a virus). with torq you can do remix on the fly/ record it and mix it right away. effects and samples are way better than any other softwares. xponent is the best tool for torq secondary is conectiv. 10/10 for m_audio.
juliusbanaag 3 years ago
Hey Julius, I found a bag that works perfect. I purchased the Novation 25-key Gig Bag after realizing that the Xponent was approx. the same size as a 25-key controller. The bag works perfectly for the Xponent. The Xponent fits in the main compartment, laptop in the front laptop compartment, USB/RCA cables in the front zipper compartment, Xponent power cable in one side pouch, laptop power cable in the other side pouch and its all heavily padded. It has back-pack straps or a single sling strap.

heres some free programs for testing out pcdj'in for the first time, might be of use to someone :
DJMixLite
KraMixer
MixSense
SC Audio DJ Mixer
Havent tested them out fully but mixsense seems to be the best on first impression.
You would need to upgrade to VDJ or whatever once you get a basic idea of how the programs work :)

i use serato, i found serato a very user friendly software/interface, just because the serato's visual aid is very easy to read, very accurate, and overall very stable,i have yet to use any other software but will try them out in the future to see which one i really like but right now ill stick with serato, thats just my opinion...

i have torq and don't like it. you have to do too much on the computer and not the decks, it takes away from the showmanship. i am looking at serato right now, but ditched torq and went back to cds.

Serato Scratch Live : limited but rock solid and now a standard.
Traktor DJ Studio : not easy at all for manual beatmatching, need to beatgrid, setting loop and cues is difficult too.(I have the tutorial dvd).
Torq : nice software but the sound output isn't very good in the extreme range.
Mixvibes : sound is good (depend on soundcard), lot of features but some are very hard to manage. If it was easier it would be like SSL.
Virutal DJ : if you turn off all the helps and auto, it can be good.

i recommend traktor scratch with traktor dj studio 3, use both of them and more higher sound quality then other dj softwares... the good things with traktor u should watch the tutorial video of traktor dj studio 3 or traktor scrach...

if u want to buy a better skills dj software with the audio interface the traktor scratch is the best and its cost u exepensive.. maybe the price is same with the another dj softwares but u must have ur laptop with high specs for example minimum 2 gb memory (ram) and 2007 specs pc or mac to get better performance...
webnin 3 years ago
the bad things for using traktor let me tell u; if u r djing in a night club with the another deejays u should connect the cables to the mixer while the another dj is performing it reaaly bad point. and the another thing if ur dj friend want to use traktor scratch with ur hardware and his pc cant do that cause he have to buy one and register it... but scratch live is better here cuz anyone who have pc can share the one audio interface

Traktor> Virtual DJ
