  • barker of the ufo!

  • ohhhhh noooo!!!!

  • Real neat video too!!

  • Still have this album and never tire of this song! One of my all time favorite songs by anyone!!

  • I'm not a fleetwood mac fan, but this song is classic

  • I FORGOT THIS ONE REALLY A GOOD ONE

  • Classic song....A+

  • My buddy and I have performed this as you can see on my profile, where I brain-farted on some of the lyrics. But there's nothing like the original. This is such a great recording and, after 35 years, I never get tired of it. I also love Bob Welch's octave style of guitar playing on this and it reminds me of another great guitarist, Wes Montgomery. God rest Wes's soul.

  • This is one of my all time fav FleetMac songs - and thank you Fleetwood for this song. It's not a dream, by the way. There are aliens visiting this planet to this day. And, does anyone wonder why the Treasury will not reveal where the %% is going - it's going to the aliens. They have hijacked our economic situation, laughing at it anyway.

  • I love this song. The rhythm has a low fi groove about it. The whole album is decent too.

  • I agree with friendobrians Bob Welch was their best lead vocalist this song has always had a hauntingly surreal quality. *****

  • It seems Fleetwood Mac never really had a static line up. I alwaysthought of them in their 1975+ lineup since thats all I can ever remember hearing growing up -born 1972-. The guy who sang this is a much better vocalist than either of the guys 1975 on. Like a mix of Jim Morrison and and Gordon Sumner - even though Sumner was only 22 when this came out lol. Great post.

  • bob welch. i agree he was their best male vocalist.

  • 2:10 - very creepy !

  • amazing(:

  • My parents got this album when I was still in my crib and played it so much it was one of the first songs I remember.Ah,but to be young again.....Great stuff!!

  • "Hypnotized" is such a great song.

I want to have a three-way with the two women in that picture of "two friends having coffee together".

  • Bob Welch has such a haunting voice. Check out "Ghost of Flight 401" from his "Three Hearts" record of 1979. There is so much Mac I have yet to discover. Shame on me.

  • Fleetwood Mac as I knew them!...(but did I have this in an 8 trac!)...Hello World..Did You Like 'Close Encounters of The 3rd Kind!..yes I like Steven Speilburg..TransVoiYeurTek!

  • ...mesmerizing...

  • I'm hyponotizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzed.Best ,best, best double guitar song ever.:D

  • Come on ritchietwotwo, "kinda cool"? This is real Fleetwood Mac. Most people dont even know about Peter Green or Bob Welch. I think Lindey Buckingham is an awesome guitarist and really brought FM to the forefront but this stuff is wonderful. I still have the LP in good condition.

  • You are exactly right. This is Fleetwood Mac at it's very best.

  • Is this a good album? I've seen it @ Barnes & Noble and have been wanting to get it

  • I think its very good. But completely different from their later stuff.

  • How does it measure up to their early stuff?

  • Its a fantastic album, but difficult to compare to early Mac. Its definitely not a blues album like their early stuff.

  • As long as it's not commercialized, like their later stuff

  • a good sampling of their early stuff that I remember included blues...

  • Damn good album..song called Forever that Bob Welch sings, is as good as Hypnotized.

  • Thanks for the info

  • Classic tune 1973 was a very good year for this young 8th grader.I met my future wife.

  • Notice how you initially think the meter is going one way, but then when the instruments come in at 0:15, you realize you've been duped.

  • Indeed... the drums start half-way through the measure and the music sounds out of place for a second when it appears...

kind of like those things flying by the window while your having coffee with a friend...

  • What year did this song come out?

  • 1973

  • Very Cool.

  • thats a great video

  • hahaha no justice :|

  • so true about the r/r hall of fame, heck i don't think warren zevon is there or heart but they put the likes of madonna?

  • love it! love it! hanging with my best friend on a sunday afternoon in 1984 when this song first got my attention! will always be special!

  • From a different time and place!

  • and Space...

  • This is the very FIRST Fleetwood Mac song I ever heard! This original group will always be the best for me!

  • smells like Pro Wrestling! Can You smell what

The Maverick is COOKING, YUM!, More Shit for the Middle Class! Still Warm, Just the way WE like it!

  • Isn't that guy mcCain Campaign manager wallstreet?Wallstreet reach around Just don't get It done I can't Suspend Disbelief

  • Its so sad....Bobby Welch NOT in the rocknroll HOF,but they put Madoona in??? Nothin but a popularity contest Thats all it is!!!!

  • The Mac was inducted in '98, so, technically, Bob is in

  • used to listen and listen to them back then...

rewired my little brain all right...

bare trees is ultimo fino too...

  • I've just got into pre-Lindsey/Stevie Fleetwood Mac recently. My goodness, these guys were awesome. Ms. McVie's voice sounds perfect in this song as well.

  • I just love the jazz-rock fusion with this song!!!

  • Beautiful song, what a voice. I don't know anything about these guys but I guess i'll know about them now. This is a gem.

  • YES! We all know this is the REAL Fleetwood Mac!

  • SUZ!!! Smootch smootch!

  • been there flying with out a machine, so different today...........

  • those ....not thise. god damn i'm drunk.

  • 2:09 looking at thise boobies again. honk honk

  • Where are thiese boobies you talk about,,,MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm boobies

  • 1:21 mmm look at those boobies. haha.

  • I could listen to this song a million times and never get tired of it. Geez, they just don't make awesome music and songs like this any longer. This is a such a classic. I remember listening to this on some underground stations in Boston when I was a

kid. Great memories. And someone else said it, but it bears repeating, but you can't even tell what year it came out, it doesn't sound "dated" at all. Hard to believe it's 35 years old. Classic Fleetwood Mac.

  • I remember reading this song was written in response to the North Carolina UFO sightings back in the early 70'. Love the song since I first heard it way back in 1973 driving cross country out to Colorado.

  • Funny you mention North Carolina,Colorado. This song to me captures the mood of southern california in the 70's like no other.

  • Hey RoadNasty. I live in NC and I had always heard that at some point Bob worked with a guy from Winston-Salem who told him about riding bikes or motorcycles out to a sort of pond that had steep sides that looked like glass. Might have been a meteor crash site. There were no roads or tracks leading to it, just out in the middle of nowhere, looked like no one had been there in forever. Anyway he felt weird there and as they say in the south 'he high tailed it outta there'.

  • Absolutely, Bob Welch never DID get the recognition that he so deserved. This is a great classic and he has many more--a lot of people don't know that Fleetwood Mac had a lot of talent before Lindsay and Stevie came along, although not to take anything away from Lindsay, one of the greatest guitarists in history. I have been a fan since the Peter Green days, and still love their music, but Bob Welch was a huge contribution.

  • I totally agree with you. Bob Welch was is so talented and made such an enormous contribution. This is an incredible song. Still love it after all these years.

  • You can download this song through Limewire as well, I had no problem finding it. A terrific song whether you're relaxing on your couch or driving down a highway with the window rolled down.

  • I have this album. Still one of the best albums I ever heard. It stands on it's own. Pre Lindsay and Stevie. This album showed that this group was talented at every spot.

  • You can buy it on the MSN music site. Just google: msn music download Mystery to Me Fleetwood Mac. Good luck

  • Bob Welch has never received the credit he deserves, both with Mac and on his own.

  • who needs prozak just pop in some mac!

  • Magic- I mean deep lyrics enhanced by some WEED!! ohh Yes!!

  • yep..'tis icing on the cake man

  • The peak (or pinnacle) of the Bob Welch-led era of Fleetwood Mac. Thanks to his entrance (starting with "Future Games" in '71) as a replacement to Peter Green, the group took itself more forcefully into a California Pop sound that would later dominate with Stevie Nicks & Lindsay Buckingham. At this moment though, the band was full of energy and talent. Mick's drumming impeccable. Bob's guitar work&vocals haunting but strong. Christine excellent harmony. Clever video; images match the song. Thx!

  • EXTRA: "Hypnotized" did achieve some modest radio play. In case anyone was interested, Bob Welch had 5 albums with Fleetwood Mac:

    -Future Games

    -Bare Trees

    -Penguin

    -Mystery To Me

    -Heroes Are Hard To Find

Welch wrote "Sentimental Lady" that first appeared on 'Bare Trees' but later was a hit for him solo. 'Future Games' marked the 1st time Christine was a participant at the forefont (instrumental work only previously). Welch later formed a short-lived band called Paris (Zeppelin-ish).

  • Didnt think it that way, thanks.

Why would Bob Welch join a band like this ? And L Buckinham ?

This was a blues band. Was.

  • Glad if the information was useful to you. Fleetwood Mac (first was a song made but ultimately an homage to the 2 long-lasting members of the group throughout all its changes: Mick Fleetwood [DRUMMER] and John McVie [BASS]. It has been noted that Welch led the group into a more melodic direction. The band certainly went through a number of changes, and that can be a good thing (to grow). I think both Welch and Buckingham had good guitar skills that Mick/John felt would help the band's potential.

  • And help with songwriting.

    They have three diffrent eras,

    Green,

    B Welch.

Nicks Buckinham. It is a rare thing to find.

  • Definitely. 100% true. And all three of them ... despite their distinctly different styles ... provided much flavor to Fleetwood Mac that has allowed it to be a timeless band. Indeed, each era has something to offer for the avid music listener.

Thanks for all your feedback. Best wishes!

  • To also clarify a bit (some details get confusing): guitarists Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer had to pick up the slack when Peter Green (frontman) left the band (he was spiked with LSD that led to schizophrenia). Green is the original composer of "Black Magic Woman" (made famous by Santana). Kirwan remained but Spencer eventually left to join a religious group (The Children Of God). Then came in Bob Welch (recommended to the band by a friend) and Christine began participating more.

    (1 of 2)

  • Welch helped the band form a more pop sound (that was later catapulted further into super-stardom by the arrival of Buckingham and Nicks). Issues with alcohol and internal fighting with the band members caused Kirwan to be fired. Welch (citing exhaustion and seeking more substantive direction) left on his own and formed Paris (with Jethro Tull bassist Glenn Cornick and Todd Rundgren's drummer Hunt Sales). Buckingham was sought to replace Welch but only agreed if Stevie came as well.

    (2 of 2)

  • CONCLUSION: Welch is the only FM member NOT in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Stevie Nicks felt (after listening to all previously Fleetwood Mac albums) that throughout all their lineup changes, a theme of "the mystic" (or supernatural) was present and that appealed to her (which allowed her to be vital to the band's later hit ingredients with songs like "Rhiannon"). Mick-Christine-Lindsay played on Welch's solo version of "Sentimental Lady." Stevie sang backup on Welch's solo song "Devil Wind."

  • I have worked in radio for a dozen or so years, and I heard somewhere that Stevie and Lindsay were the Mac's 10th line up...do you know if that is correct?

  • That sounds correct, based on what I read.

1st album with the first line up (Peter Green led) was in 1968; 1st album Stevie and Lindsay joined was self-titled in 1975 (it was the 10th album-release to come out by the band).

  • Not really...beside Welch, Bob Brunning, Dave Mason, Bekka Bramlett, Billy Burnette, Bob Weston, & Dave Walker were also left out from being inducted into the R&R HoF.

  • True. Good point.

  • Thanks, "MP" for your information. One could easily believe that either you're one of their greatest fans, or, a direct participant. Best concert I ever saw was their 3+ hour show in Wichita Ks, during the 1980s.

  • Thanks alot for the kind words, chcknsht. I've been a longtime fan of the group & have appreciated each musical phase they were a part of because it produced quality work. I think I like the Bob Welch era the best just because it was really catchy & enjoyable, and not overly pop or grandiose. I liked the kind of jazzy vibe Welch brought to the forefont, plus (as shone on songs like this) he had a great voice. Christine McVie is an exceptional songwriter, very poingant. I'll be that show rocked!

  • Back in the day, I remember calling up WBCN's DJ asking who does this song. Thamks for making a wonderful tribute.

  • I wonder if I played this song really loud upon entering a bank, if I could leave much richer then when I first entered?

  • This was the first album where "Danny Kirwan" an excellent guitarist had left the band, a damn shame.

  • Actually, it was Fleetwood Mac's SECOND album after Danny Kirwan was fired. Their "Penguin" album which came out earlier in '73 was the first.

  • been listening to this for 35 years , turned onto it by a very dear friend , no longer with us, .....a gem of a human being!!!!!

  • I was obsessed with this song when I first heared it on the radio way back when I was a teenager. It was my favorite song of all time, I think it still is. I especially love how it starts out with the drum beat. I just love it, and always will. Thanks.

  • Fleetwood Mac with Bob Welch were spectacular. Future Games was brilliant!

  • Agreed. I did like the Buckingham / Nicks era OK...but it didn't hold a candle to this era.

  • this song is pure greatness (:

  • I'd forgotten about this song, let alone that it was by Fleetwood Mac. Thanks for posting it.

  • this is such an epic song.. sucks you in i love these old songs. no i love this song!

  • Delicious. Take me.

  • spiritual to me.really speaks to my soul.i was 3 when it was made

  • Fleetwood Mac before Stevie Nicks...good music, best times. Thanks ex bro in law...janet

  • This is one of the rare few songs that I think of as perfect. Bob Welch's voice and the music are simply perfect. Thanks, Richie22

  • Is that Bob Welch on vocals?

  • Yes it is. Love the early years and those haunting vocals.

  • this was my fav song with my boyfriend bill gross and i it was our song he died when he and i were 21 and i still miss him this song is so approprite he still nas me hypnotized

  • I love this song sooo much thank you for posting it!

    :D

  • Although I've never been to North Carolina, this song always takes me there as if in a misty twilight dream. It'll always be one of my favorites. Thanks for uploading it.

  • aw crap im at the forefront, well it is mesmerizing, definitively :)

  • Will someone please post the original Black Magic Woman? No offense meant Carlos(you're still one of my all time favorite guitarists),but you know you owe something to Peter Green. The original is an amazing piece of music--let's hear it again!! Someone must have it.

  • Hey bird -- I saw you on Quicksilver -- must have the same musical taste --- this flavor of the Bob Welch and Fleetwood never ending beat is really hypnotism. Rock Chalk.

  • Forever music, very good.

  • I cannot locate this MP3 on either Itunes nor Amazon.

  • No demand for this haunting masterpiece. What a shame.

  • then try dc++... what .. u guys affraid of the big bad wolf? no one's gonna throw u in jail for a song or two.. it just seems stupid to have to pay for a single damn song.. if u like it so much download it... (hmm i wonder if after this comment I'll get my account removed from this site?.. oh well..)

  • I think there were several versions of this record. They took Dave Walker of Savoy Brown as singer, then dumped him. He sings the last song on side two "Road Runner", if I'm not mistaken. But not all shipped copies reflected the changes.

  • Sad how so many don't remember how truly great Fleetwood Mac was before Buckingham-Nicks came along. Just listen to this song and you'll know.

  • You are so right!

  • There very best in my opinion. Mesmerizing

  • Agreed

  • Ditto

  • One of my favorite tunes of ALL TIME.

Does anyone remember "Black Magic Woman"...

    English Rose Album?

    Anyway,thanks for the post.

  • great song. some of the best Fleetwood Mac songs are ones before they became "mainstream" three of those are this song,Bare Trees, and my all time favorite Fleetwood Mac song Heroes are hard to find, which i haven' t heard in twenty years!! "just remember when he tells you you've got diamonds in your eyes{he's just lying'} please someone else HAS to remember that song . it was a title freakin' track.

  • awesome tune, they don't do music like this anymore!!!! thanks for the posting

  • Is it me or can anyone find this single on either Amazon or iTunes?

  • music simply does not get any better than this-thanks richietwotwo for posting

  • I've been listening to this song for 35 years, still enjoy it, had the element of discovery that so much music is lacking now

  • I just got done watching a video set to this song, done live, in 1976, by the iteration of Fleetwood Mac that existed then. Again, with all due respect to Lindsey, hearing that version makes me appreciate Bob Welch's voice on this song even more! The instrumentals can be the same, but without his voice, the haunting tone of this song is just not there.

  • I agree....this song is a Bob Welch w/Fleetwood Mac classic.

  • great song awesome pics

  • i think the mac has had a life kinda like a person. i think this tune was a burst of inspiration from a fresh young mind.

  • i think this collage is groovy! good work richietwotwo.

  • With all due respect to Stevie, Lindsay, etc., I really like this earlier iteration of Fleetwood Mac better. Also, check out "Sentimental Lady" on their Bare Trees album, also; the backup vocal of Christie really compliments Bob's leads; nicer version, I think, than his solo version.

  • No question. That version of Sentimental Lady is THE classic.

  • TIMELESS song. if you didn't know, you could not tell what year this was made. It could be anytime after 1968. It set the tone for decades of smooth jazz rock and A/C songs to come. Pat Metheny might owe his career to this song!

  • Man! I can totally hear the undertones of Fleetwood Mac w/ Pat Metheny music. I'm amazed that someone knows Pat Metheny

  • Man! I can totally hear the undertones of Fleetwood Mac w/ Pat Metheny music. I'm amazed that someone knows Pat Metheny

  • 3:24 the stoneys are right nice> but we allready knew that one,,,,peace

  • sounds like paul simon who knows who it is. i sure dont but trippy song

  • mesmerised by the truth

  • The album cover of Mystery to Me has got to take the cake (pun intended) for most bizarre cover of all time!

A great collection of songs. My favorites: Christine McVie's The Way that I Feel, and Why.

  • Yep,this is the REAL Fleetwood Mac! ;)

  • One of my cherished flash from the past Fleetwood Mac songs...smooth cool and jazzy.

  • one of their best...check out some smooth jazz

  • great song. have not heard it in decades!

and yea Future Games is also an amazing album!

  • Welch deserves so much more credit than he gets. A haunting piece of music.

  • The Bob Welch-era Fleetwood Mac is so underrated in my opinion!

  • Fleetwood Mac always the best, Nº1!

    Fleetwood Mac X 100PRE!..

EL MEJOR DE DE MEJORES.. EL NUMERO UNO!

    I LOVE!

    Ecuador

  • My favorite Fleetwood Mac song EVER! It's a sleeper hit from the early Mystery to Me album when Bob Welch was in the group. I can listen to this song 100 times and it still sounds new. Fantastic song!

  • is it me or is bob welch criminally underrated, i love his voice, his songs, he kind of disappeared for awhile.

  • nice video

  • Oh and I also forgot Bare Trees, that's also one of my faves. Those three. lol

  • My fav Mac tune as well. It's so funny when you talk to people and had no clue the Mac existed before Stevie and Lindsey. My 2 favorite Mac albums are Future Games and Mystery to Me.

  • love the song. wish u would put back the abracadabra eye chart on this vid...ty for post

    Blessings

    Avalon

  • this is one of my faves off their box set of 25 years.

  • if u really want the song, you can just install audacity recording software (its free, just google 'audacity') and then use it to record just the audio off of this youtube video (in audacity, just switch input from microphone to stereo mix). ive done it for several songs and it works well.

  • Does "Audacitiy" bring in any spyware/adware along with the song? I'm dying to get this song in my playlist but not having any luck whatsoever!

  • This is a great Fleetwood Mac song and I cant download it on itunes. Pissed!!!!

  • Bob Welch may not have gotten more respect because he left the band just before they hit it really big, that is, before the self-titled album and Rumours. For folks looking to download this song, just go out and get a copy of the whole Mystery to Me album. Besides this song, there are plenty of other gems. I have it on vinyl and CD.

  • I was shocked when this song, my fav, didn't make their greatest hits album!!! What were they thinking????

  • Last response was in reference to Carlos Casteneda

  • This is a great song! Very sexy

  • My favorite Fleetwood Mac song! ...for some reason unavailable on iTunes. Thanks!

  • why dont artists write incredible stuff like this anymore??????????????

  • This is choice is'nt it. Good question.

  • great song thank for sharing

  • My favourite Fleetwood Mac song

  • Why didn't Bob Welch get the respect and draw he deserved? This is one of his best- I love Emerald Eyes from this same album too.

  • Me also ita magical mystical journey toke up an kick back

  • Engrish!!! Speak Engrish!!!!

  • LOL - he's too toked out to speak properly, the twunt
