My RSF3 is really good, really light weight too. Can't get any more shields for it though, can only be imported from France for about 60 bucks. I had to get a part for warranty, the vent wheel broke and they sent me the part directly from france free of charge.
In my years of riding I've never even heard of Shark helmets... Shoei RF1000 every time. Absolutely best helmet out there IMO.
If I had to buy my RF1000, it'd be worth every penny of the nearly $400 price tag. The people who scoff at a $400 helmet are typically the "$100 helmet for a $100 head" type. eg: not too bright.
My very first helmet was a Scorpion Exo or somesuch. Wow... what a pile of garbage next to the RF1000. It's heavy, it's poofy, it's LOUD and oddly claustrophobic. Hot, too.
The RF1000 is completely useless if you don't have the head shape that it's designed for (I don't). Shark puts out quality helmets, and their RSI fits my head better than others I've tried. My point is that there is no "best helmet." Lots of companies are putting out quality Snell/DOT helmets and riders should try as many as possible and buy one that has the comfort they want and their preferred feature-set.
I have a Shark RSI. I've had since 07 and I still love. I'll always check out whats out there, but think I am probably going to stick with Shark helmets. I like the ECE/22-05 over snell. Love the way the visor improves your vision. Light, quiet, comfortable, flows air, looks sharp. And I like the way it is designed to dissipate impacts. Shark is a good company with good products, and good prices. But the prices are creeping up as they become more common :(
How did you pay for the motorcycle? I'm almost your age and I have no money whatsoever, mostly because I'm in university, so I don't work. Do you work and study?
My new Grex R2 is damn comfy and also super light, i cant be bothered to look at the differences, maybe its something you can do when you get bored ? :P I paid £70 for it in the sale, it was £130, i love sales :D
"lets go right, lets get crazy!" lol! Comfort is very important to me when it comes to buying a lid.. Arai, has always fit me just perfect. I nearly bought a Shark too because of comfort but I couldn't fit my glasses on comfortably :( Stupid blindness.. haha! But yeah, Arai's are ridiculously expensive but, can you put a price on your head??
how about you buy a cheap helmet and dont wreck lol. why waist $ and all helmets have to pass codes and ya a expensive helmet wont break as easy but what about your neck smart guys if there is that much force all yo shit gona get snaped up anyways
@StokedBeastMotoDr I'm pretty sure helmets don't snap necks, as far as research goes. It really depends on what you want. I know the RSR 2 is SHARP rated 5 stars, it is ECE-22-05 and DOT. It depends on what certifications you like or trust (since the certifications are all about testing the helmet ability to save your life).
@rebelyell91 Helments COULD snap your neck i guess but not through normal use. I think what StokedBeastMotoDr is getting at is that if you buy an expensive helpment , you are just as likely as anyone else to fall in a bad way and snap your neck and helmets do not offer any neck protection.
You could spend all your money on the most expensive brand of helmet and it would offer exactly the same protection of one much less expensive.
@StokedBeastMotoDr snapped bones or neck dose not alwase mean death, but a hard hit to an unprotected head from a curb, another vehicle, or pavement at 20+ mph will usually kill you
Noob question: What does "eat rice" actually mean? I'm a relatively new subscriber so if he explained it in a video awhile back I apologize for missing that video.
@Tex1709 a life isent about the money you spend on a helmet since price tags are made by the company of brand by reserch in airodynaics and sound ,and NOT safty ,this is that safty regulations is to pass evry single helmet that meet regulations and investigatons on the subject has shown they all are equaly safe but form fit and style and brand are to the individual hwo buy what, and not the prce tag.
@transdetendal really, because I seem to remember about a $150 differance AT LEAST for a Schnell helmet over a standard DOT helmet. and make no mistake about it, schnell testing IS for safety. but also remember that the material of the outer shell and the type of inner padding makes a HUGE differance in weather you get a concision, brain damage, or worse. fact is it takes money to research better helmet designs, and companies pass that on to you.
@Tex1709 yes thats also right ,BUT the helet builup is the same wether its snell v-max ,aio, shark or whatever the name ,the major investigation in building a structure of the helmet is light mass ,arodynamics and structural integrety ,inside is allergy and form fitting but the material is mostly the same.crash tests show no difference between cheap or expensive helmets at all ,they still have to pass the same amount off stress.
I really like shark helmets. I crashed in the S900 as seen in my video. The damage was quite bad. It protected me so much that i went and bought the exact same helmet again!
Hello, Jeff !! Great video as always !! Hey, is that black field at your right through this video linked to F.E.M.A. ?? Man, I'm watching some videos recently and it seems the things are going worse....... and now I'm not sure if I'll visit USA in a near future... Well, anyways, keep doing your best !! =^J
They are not at all popular in the states (in Europe I think they are). Shark I believe is located in France. Anyways, I love it! I'm thinking about getting a proper dual-sport helmet though...

I have the RSX and the only real downside of it is the quick wearing of the inner layer at the edge. Other than that it's a great helmet.
