Why would anyone want Intels POS Atom processor in a DESKTOP?! you could build a desktop for an equivalant price with many times the processing performance, and a small form factor to boot.
What kind of video is this? Why not showing some action, show how to work with a programm, how to surf the internet. Is it as easy to use as the iPhone etc. These are questions that bother me. You showed us how to switch tabs.....
Just read the title and you will know that it's just a first hands on clip.
It's not a review or anything else so what kinda comment is this? Maybe you should just head over to the german version of this review, where you can see some applications
i find this a big minus :((( i love the "toy" and i pre ordered it ...does a external optical unit solves the problem?? i can t imagine a PC without DVD/CD unit...
One more question. To protect our night vision in order to see dim galaxies with the telescope, astronomers sometimes put a thin sheet of red plastic called rubylith over the screen surface of their laptops. Does having another material between your finger and the touchscreen surface prevent the touchscreen from working?
Early next year. Also very happy to read about the ET1603 with battery and ati mobility HD3450!If Asus do an atom 330 dualcore version, even better.I am also thinking about the EeeTop for XBMC (Xbox Media Centre).Perfect for when one doesn't want to turn the Home Cinema projector on just to listen to music. If I find that the Eeetop can at least do 720p H264 with XBMC,I might end up buying 2. 1 for the Telescope and 1 for the homecinema and a few Eeeboxes for the other Plasmas. Asus will love me!!!
I want to mount one of these to a Telescope!! with one of those red laser virtual keyboards :-) Atom should handle the astro SWare. Screen is big and high res enough. Please tell me 2 things minipcpro. It would be cool to be able to pan the sky window with a finger. The planetarium SW does this by holding L mouse but. and moving the pointer around the window to pan the view. Can a touchscreen mimic the mouse in this regard? ie touch screen with finger and drag view with finger?
Hi there and sorry for my late reply. Yes, it can do that. On the german version of this video you can see a little boy demonstrating some drag and drop features, means emulating a held L mouse button.
The design was good - but the build quality seems poor. Asus is trying to do too many things in very little time. And this is certainly not what the Atom processor is meant to do.
the build quality was really solid and the touchscreen very responsive. like frexxx is mentioning in his comment, it could be perfect for kids and also your parents.
They could even sell it as any POS or Kiosk System
That's one slow machine

Yeah, it is curious, although I guess for some users they wont notice the difference (many users just use MSN, for example) lol
Since they are kind of copying the iMac, I guess they tried to copy apple's over price and under power policy also!

the future of personal pc's is here:
no more mouse or mousepad, no more keyboard, all touchscreen, no more bulky harddisks.

well just connect an external driver over the USB connectors or use share one of another system in your network.
minipcpro 3 years ago

So, just to see if I got it right. This is a pc, but everything is in the screen?
Kalsn 3 years ago
exactly. It's pretty much the same hardware that you find in the Eee PC 901 or 1000. Except of the Topmodel which comes with ati gfx card

this is definately something i just can't answer right now, sorry.
I can only recommend to take this foil with you to any shop, and test it with the Eee Top.
By the way, please keep me updated on this project, when you are going to use the Eee Top for this. Sounds really interesting.

glossy screen :-(

might be a matter of the light, sorry...
compared to a netbook like the aspire one or hp mini-note, its not glossy at all.
Again, this is a preproduction sample and i guess i killed it a little bit at the end :p
