It's being used with games in development right now for all platforms. Even though enlighten has been around for 2 years, it recently became available and nearly every big and small developer has jumped on it. This is a big breakthrough in real-time graphics. It's also being used in Battlefield 3!
to explain: David Hestenes, long-time prof of math/physics stuff at ASU, has been working on Geometric Calculus in physics, which led in large part to this EM-modelling based breakthrough on the part of Chris Doran and his new company (kudos).
I'm glad someone else knows what is behind these pretty pictures!
Personally, I think the biggest wins of geometric algebra will be in higher dimensional models (more than 3D space) such as physical configuration spaces in engineering or data spaces in data mining.
Me and a friend just spent the last two minutes going, 'weyooo!' as if we were watching some '66 cup final. GUI sliders shouldn't evoke that kind of enthusiasm... ...Such nerdery.
wtf..... if some 1 noes can you send me a message what is this is it a game what can you do and what console or consoles is it for send me a answer 2 any of them plz
If i'm correct its a kinda plug-in for game developers... They basically show the engine off at events like the GDC in hope of selling it to game developers.
Well, as I understand it it's lighting *middleware*, so it is kind of a plugin. Their webpage goes into detail, but basically it's a piece of code that you give your light and geometry information to and it returns the calculated reflections. It only does light, full graphics engines do light and a lot of other stuff. For example, Epic bought the Enlighten for use in a newer version of the Unreal 3 engine. So the engine is still U3, they just replaced (or augmented) the lighting with this thing.
Runs on 360?
