'Beg, Steal or Borrow' and 'Metal Guru' by T.rex were my first 2 singles. I had them for my birthday and we played over and over at my birthday party. The only other record we had was my older brothers LP 'Slade Alive'-which to us 9 year olds-sounded really awful!!!

Great song. The New Seekers were so talented. I can remember being allowed to stay up and watch The Eurovision Song Contest, we should have won with this song. Peter Doyle was my favourite, what an incredible voice he had. May he R.I.P. He is sadly missed.

In Sweden this song was performed by a group called Pastellerna. The song was calles "Ler, ber och bönar" (Smile, pray and plead).

Who's doing the commentary for this? He sounds as if he's got the regimental mascot rammed up his fundament. Note how he gets the correct French pronunciation on baton.

A man called Tom Fleming. He also used to commentate on military events such as The Royal Tournament, Trooping the Colour and The Edinburgh Miltary Tatoo. This was in the days before Terry Wogan did it. I can well remember watching this Eurovision (albeit in Black & White). It was a very close run thing between the UK and Luxembourg on the night although personally I also rather liked the Swedish entry - I am sure that ABBA 'borrowed' some of their techniques. 1972 = Happy Days !

@TK21060 - I agree. Eve has a range of 3 octaves; she sings the top D at the end of "Never Ending Song Of Love". Sadly, there's no footage on YouTube of The New Seekers' live favourite "I'm A Nut", in which she plays a kazoo solo!
