  • ever see anyone singing this well live on tv anymore...?! AND playing instruments!

  • Comment removed

  • @Hirsute63 there's lots of good live performances ... look up " In the early morning rain " by Peter,Paul and Mary on Youtube, a classic from 1966.

  • Apres Tois is my all time favourite Eurovision winner, and this is my favourite British Entry and I have seen them all since 1965 when I was 8

  • @cvdman ....i agree!!! my favorite all time eurovision winner too. i was 7 in 1965 and the first time i remember watching was when luxembourg won with frans gall

  • Haven't heard this in years....at any other time this would have been winning material. Too bad Apres Tois was also so very good. Where did this come in the end?

  • Love this group...to bad there its not more here...

  • Why are they wearing dressing gowns and pyjamas? lol.

  • @ukgleek It was the 70's what can i say. lol I cringe when i think of the clothes i wore back then.

  • @dsfddsgh Haha! Your comment had me in stitches. What a decade that was. Well you've made it to 2010 so you must be doing something right :)

  • wow... how nice to hear TOM FLEMING the scottish commentator who has commented on royal funerals and state occassions as well as being a highly regarded broadcaster he has commentated on the edinburgh tatoo for nearly 50 years an instantly recognisable voice !!! a great scottish man

  • The soundtrack is about 10 seconds out

  • nice song. youthmemories.

  • new seekers taught the world to sing except vicky leandros.

  • Beg Steal or Borrow was a pop classic but Apres Toi is an all time classic.

  • the blue danube by strauss was better than apes toi,new seekers were no 1 all over europe . they went forward in the charts, while the french song went backwards, just like thier TANKS

  • No we weren't . Apres Toi was a euro classic . The best song won .

  • we wos robbed!!!

  • No we weren't . Apres Toi was a euro classic . The best song won .

  • Sing these words to the chorus of Apres Toi:

'We woz robbed, by a mmm, ok French song, when the best song that year came in in second place

We woz robbed, Beg Steal or Borrow, by the New Seekers, had so much more class

We all know, that 123strauss clearly doesn't know what he's on about

We woz robbed, if you think any different, you can stick it - right up your a..'

  • i was going to wipe the floor with you , but alas , I'll let the world see you exposed as the toss-piece you are

  • seems most agree with me straussie baby - you clearly ain't got an ear for music like your namesake tee hee hee

  • Well , considering I've been buying & collecting music, records, etc for over 30 years ( longer than you've actually lived ) I think I would know more about what's good and what's not .

  • ZZZZZZzzzzzzzz . . . . . . .

  • I remember watching this as a nine year old and was staggered that we didnt win.

  • i was 4. remember my sisters playin this. look at them. thay sang it from the heart. not for mony or fame but thay sang it to win. now days ill thay see is ££££££££££££££

  • Blahdibladiblah

So please tell me why the UK nowadays keep sending notalents to the eurovision.

Hello, we're talking about a county who dominate the Western pop music (together with the US)

  • This song was only No. 2,winner was "Apres toi" sung by Vicky Leandros for Luxemburg,

  • De acordo! Muito bom.

  • A melhor do ano de 1972.

  • 'Beg, Steal or Borrow' and 'Metal Guru' by T.rex were my first 2 singles. I had them for my birthday and we played over and over at my birthday party. The only other record we had was my older brothers LP 'Slade Alive'-which to us 9 year olds-sounded really awful!!!

  • this is nothing compared to apres toi.. just my opinion :))

  • Great song. The New Seekers were so talented. I can remember being allowed to stay up and watch The Eurovision Song Contest, we should have won with this song. Peter Doyle was my favourite, what an incredible voice he had. May he R.I.P. He is sadly missed.

  • We wuz robbed.

  • Yiss!

  • My favourite song in 1972.I already knew this group before the song contest and,on the contrary of some bands, they didn't disappointed me.

  • wheres terry wogan when you need her

  • This was better than Après-toi. It was my favorite song of 1972.

  • In Sweden this song was performed by a group called Pastellerna. The song was calles "Ler, ber och bönar" (Smile, pray and plead).

Ja, många ler, ber och bönar

men man får ta det kallt

    och med en nypa salt.....

    ...and so on...

  • This was when the rest of the world still liked us. Were they singing live or mimng?

  • singing live of course, thats the rules of

contest,i can understand your question though.

i was lucky enough to see the new seekers live three times in the 70s,FANTASTIC GROUP.

you can get dvd of the new seekers live at albert hall 1972 at any good on line music store

  • LIVE of course! Miming is strictly banned in ESC, thats why so many no-talents come unstuck.

  • Great, even better than Vicky Leandros. Should be a winner song.

  • Who's doing the commentary for this? He sounds as if he's got the regimental mascot rammed up his fundament. Note how he gets the correct French pronunciation on baton.

  • A man called Tom Fleming. He also used to commentate on military events such as The Royal Tournament, Trooping the Colour and The Edinburgh Miltary Tatoo. This was in the days before Terry Wogan did it. I can well remember watching this Eurovision (albeit in Black & White). It was a very close run thing between the UK and Luxembourg on the night although personally I also rather liked the Swedish entry - I am sure that ABBA 'borrowed' some of their techniques. 1972 = Happy Days !

  • Definitely one of the UKs best entries. But the Luxembourg song by Vicky Leandros was one of the greats in the competition's history.

  • 12 points from Russia also. 2008 ))

  • 12 points from Portugal, now 2008

  • The best ever UK Eurovision entry, from one of the best ever pure pop groups - but sadly rather underrated. Great singers. Great harmonies. Makes you realise just how dismal some of our subsequent entries have been.

  • LMAO!

  • Brilliant from the best lineup.

  • We wuz robbed! Doesn't this, compared to entries for the 'modern' Eurosong contest, make you realise quite how good a band the New Seekers were? Eve Graham's backing vocal quite outstanding.

  • @TK21060 - I agree. Eve has a range of 3 octaves; she sings the top D at the end of "Never Ending Song Of Love". Sadly, there's no footage on YouTube of The New Seekers' live favourite "I'm A Nut", in which she plays a kazoo solo!

  • @goldheartbadge - "I'm A Nut" is now on YouTube!

  • what won

  • Vicky Leandros won singing for Luxembourg with 'Apres Toi'.

  • cheers

  • We should have won with this one!

  • did i say that i was there!I remember screaming for marty.

  • Snap.

  • Vicky Leandros.......paaaah.

Happy times, more innocent times than today also. Marty the king of utter gorgeousness. Bliss. Thank you very much, kind person. Sigh xxxxxx

  • This vid has brought back lovely memories. They should have won hands down. Bless you for posting this.

  • euronoples This is a Brilliant Post. Thanks

  • The best line-up ever! They should have won the contest. Would have been well deserved.
