  • 0:27 Michael Jackson penetrating... you forgot to say little boys. Too soon?

  • Even though Houston lost the final 2 years in the roll. That's pretty good of getting there 2 straight years.

  • @Van2Dan coughButlercough

  • Ewing was an alltime great at center and a "TRUE" center. He was simply a victim of bad timing, but let's not forget the man was an NCAA and Olympic champion as well as an NBA Hall of Famer. I'd take him or Hakeem on my team anyday!

  • Overrated? They could have EASILY won 4 straight national titles with Pat at G'town. Oh, he threw that pass in '82? They were only a game away in '83. They won here. They lost in '85 by a once in a century performance by Villanova. SERIOUSLY? Pat never had any true all-stars next to him until his last year with the Knicks and it was too late by then. Had Scotty Stirling never traded King in '87, things might have turned out differently throughout the 90s.

  • @TheEsquire212: Georgetown lost in the second round to Memphis State in 1983, but they could have won three of four. They could have owned the 80's. In 1980, they had a 17-point lead over Iowa in the East Final, but blew it. Also, if Graham would have come back, they would have won in 85, and their chances for 1986 and 87 would have improved.

Also, in 89, they lost to Duke in the East Final in a pretty close game. They could have been in every Final Four except for 81 and 83(Con't).

  • @TheEsquire212: As for Stirling, he also traded the fifth overall pick in the 1987 draft to the Sonics for Gerald Henderson and the 18th pick in that same draft. Guess who the Sonics drafted with the fifth pick: Scottie Pippen!!

BTW, what was the obsession with Henderson? The Sonics traded away their 1986 #1(which turned out to be Len Bias) to Boston for him.

  • @sptrfn I never understood it, but because he was with Boston and made a LUCKY ASS PLAY, everyone coveted him after that. He was nothing more than a highly touted eddie house.

  • @sptrfn I agree. I don't understand the obsession. The smarter GMs never traded away draft picks. They traded FOR draft picks. You hardly ever heard about Jerry West or Red Auerbach trading away draft picks. Red Auerbach would have had a superstar had Len Bias lived.

  • Battle of great Big Men and Hall of Famers

  • Reggie Williams was MVP of this game. Graham also had an amazing game. Unfortunately, Graham had personal issues which he has since recovered from.

  • Michael Graham...the legend of Michael Graham...like a comet passing in the night....

  • You couldn't get a better Championship game matchup at the Center position then this

  • But in 1994 in the NBA Finals Hakeen Olajuwon got his revenge against Patrick Ewing for the 1984 NCAA Championship.

  • @MrBennetzen haha, you're right!

  • @MrBennetzen Ewing was a BUM in the NBA, and he was over rated in college! New York fans will NEVER forgive him for Game 7 Indiana in '95 when he had a clear path to the basket and west for a stupid FINGER ROLL AND MISSED! One of the 50 greatest my butt! Willis Reed, Clyde Frazier, Dave DeBusschere, Bill Bradley, and Earl Monroe were all more worthy of the title MR. KNICK!

  • @vccstudents Bum? What are you talking about? He was an All-Star. When he missed the finger roll, do you remember he played with a bad calf (he had it wrapped) and and couldn't get to the hole? I wished the Knicks could have won it all but he always gave the Knicks a chance to win. Since he has left, the Knicks have been a joke. Overrated in college? It was because of Ewing the Big East became relevant. He put them on the map. I know you don't like him, but he deserves some credit.

  • @Mistuhbig He deserves credit as the first ever lottery pick, and the biggest BUST! If he had been a "take it to the hole" center like Shaq, he'd have won two or three titles, but he was ALWAYS too timid! There was, bad calf and all, to this day, NO FREAKIN' EXCUSE for missing that ridiculous finger roll! The fans BOOED him off the court after that!

  • @vccstudents I agree that Ewing fell in love with the fadeaway too much sometimes but to call him a bum? A bust? Timid? What are you watching? Shaq was an inch taller and 70 pounds heavier than Ewing. Shaq weighed 75 lbs more than most centers and was nimble. Some of you fellow Knick fans kill me; You hate the hell out of Ewing, but tolerate the shit that has been on the court since the man left. He could help the Knicks now if he was 25 again. Next time, YOU make the finger roll.

  • @Mistuhbig If I was 6 inches taller, I would have MADE that ridiculous finger roll. Yes, Shaq was bigger, which is why I say Ewing was a bust at center. He wasn't big enough! I saw him MORE than once have a clear path to the basket and go for the fadeaway instead of slamming it home. And no, I don't tolerate what goes on since Ewing left. Riley turned it into basketBRAWL! The game has become football without pads!

  • @vccstudents I agree that Ewing settled for the jump shot too much and could have used it to set up drives to the hole. Ewing was not big enough? Shaq was heavier and stronger than just about every center he played against. A Bust? Guys who are on All-Star teams for most of their careers are not busts. Or you didn't get the memo. The Knicks brawled when Ewing was there and when Riley was the coach. The things you say defy logic.

  • @Mistuhbig No, I agree Riley and the Knicks brawled. They tried to be the second coming of the Detroit Bad Boys, but Ewing was never the superstar New York hoped for. He made the team respectable at best, but he was no leader, no vocal leader the team needed. Trust me. I saw enough of this franchise when Reed was there to know what I'm talking about.

  • Michael Graham was one mean MF'er!

  • Michael Graham was a force under the boards for the Hoyas that year and gave Ewing a lot of help. Hoyas were at their best that year and Fred Brown got to go out as a champ.

  • we're all "victims" of our experience; no excuses, graham played like a thug and unfortunately got away with it most of the time

  • sucks for houston, back 2 back championship games but come up short both years

  • I remember that Georgetown team in 1984-85! I was only 9 years old, but my older brother was a huge fan of that team and so was I.

I agree that if Graham was there, G-Town would of won that year and might of had a chance to go undefeated. However, I do remember watching the 1st meeting between G-Town & Nova in the Specturm in Jan/85 & it was a close game and went to O/T.

Coach Thompson said that when they faced Nova again in the finals, the intimidation factor that G-town had wasn't there

  • Michael Graham was insane in this game. I remember every single dunk he had. An awesome game.

  • my daddy was so good :)

im so proud of him :P

    <3

  • mike graham??

  • yuupp.

    im his daughter tianna.

    :)

  • I heard that he got like 6 kids. lolz

  • yeaah, pretty much :P

    7. including my step sisters.

    biologiclly, he has 4.

  • iz he still bald? lolz

  • yeaah :P

    lmfao

  • i figured. lolz

  • i don't think the talent this year in the NCAA is quite up to par as in past years.

  • so what is he doing these days. I heard he was a stockbroker on wall street.

  • not allowed to play and transferred to UDC then declared for the draft. He was chosen by the Seattle Supersonics in the 4th round but he wasn't able to make the final cut.

  • Michael Graham is my uncle he's doing well he lost his son due to a brain tumor in june 08. It makes me proud to see how many people still recall his days at Georgetown whether they be good memories or bad, he always played with passion. He comes from one of the worst places in DC and sometimes its hard to overcome your surroundings when you have so much negativity. For those of you who dont know he never lost his academic eligibility however his grades were not up to Coach's standards so he was

  • brothers can never be corraled or conform to the system of a university. Student athelete or Ghetto Super Star. Sometimes they choose to be the later. John Thompson said it wasn't that Graham couldn't do the work but, just refused to follow Big Johns strict order of disipline for his player. He could risk the entire squad for Grahams many short commings. There for he mad the worst coaching desision of his life by giving Mike Graham his walking papers.

  • I remember me and a co-worker were talking about great players who never played in the NBA and the 1st player that came out of his mouth was Michael Graham and I was stoked when he mentioned that. That was John Thompson's worst coaching deciscion , they would have gone undefeated in 84-85.

  • "Brorhers" can't conform to a university system? Do you mean black people can't make it in a university? Is that "acting white"? What an insult to the millions of black folks who HAVE "conformed" and gotten themselves educated.

    What an idiotic remark.

  • Yeah, Unfortunately part of what made Graham so great on the court was the samething that hurt him off the court. Mike was who he was. If you know the real story he never really finish high school or had the grades to get in to GTOWN. Mike, was from one of the worst & roughest area's of D.C the same attitude he brought to Hoyas on the court was the same way he played off the court. In essence Michael Graham was a REAL N!GGA!! I mean that in the best way possible however, sometimes these

  • why didn't michael graham didn't return the next season? do anybody know

  • ...But the yell of all the yells, the yell that wins the day

Is the HOYA HOYA SAXA of the dear old Blue and Gray

  • Michael Graham was a Grown Dam Man!! Don't ever question a real man like that again! Graham was a true baller intimindator and a vicious force way ahead of his time baby! That's the only reason this team didn't go back to back!

  • amen

  • @DudeRoss72 ~ so true about Michael Graham. Graham was from the streets of DC. If my memory serves me right, I don't think he met his grade or he was released for some unspecified reason, but that was why he wasn't on the '85 squad. His replacement was the guy #44 by the last name of Hightower. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army then went to G'town. They were the original "Beast of the East." "Hoya Paranoia!"

  • graham had no game...that's y he was a nba bust

  • Michael Graham didnt make it that far. He was a real problem on and off the court, when Big John signed him he had his fingers crossed all year because MG was the kinda dude that at any minute could get into some shit. He wasnt interested in school class grades nothing academic my cuz played against him at Spingarn he punched their point guard and even in one game the ref. He was outta control. From probably the worst part of D.C and he never made the transition to college. I hope he's O.K

  • the infamous michael graham....a player ahead of his time
