  • Is anyone elses video not working properly?

  • THAT'S JOHN STOWELL HOLY SHIT

    this man is epic.

  • When he plays he looks like he wants to bone his guitar...

  • bravissimo chitarrista....ma le lezioni fatte così sono inutili...e io ho studiato jazz....

  • Hey Folks, This course DOES NOT CONTAIN TAB. That was a misprint by TrueFire which I am sure they will correct when it is brought to their attention.

  • huh!!!!

  • ok but when your using two different modes at the same time they have to somewhat respond to eachother with some consanance instead of having two different keys throwing 2nds everywere unless you use it to approach the fith or in a picking variation that switches chords as it decends so alot of what hes playing sounds like garbage

  • @dispatchedhere

    Consonance is for pussies.

  • @TJGuitarVids Hahahahahahaha!

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Tosin Abasi from Animals as leader also sent me here

  • Great information, thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!

Very well explained and great sonorities!!!!!!

  • This guy's great but the way he holds the guitar so close to his face is so unsettling

  • @Jdudeo No one else on youtube does that, guitar neck and your face so close together in the shot.

  • man he is smart and talented and he knows it!

  • this lesson could be much more useful with a little more effort

  • a good way to remember is to write notes

  • you need bigger dot to see where to play !!

  • So let me get this straight, an ionin scale is augmented by the dominant seventh minor Phrygian tonal center, fuck why didnt I think of that, that dude.

  • Tosin sent me. I was not disappointed.

  • @fru1tbooter14 If tosin sent u here he was pulling ur leg. This guy is about as clear as looking through a rock. His playing is boring and uninspired.

  • @chillichomper john stowell is a beast in his own right!

  • oooo colours on the fretboard

  • I love the way John Stowell is able to explain all these "what to play over what" ideas in a very clear way! (No irony intended)

  • I was waiting for him to "lick" his Low-E string, cuz his face was so close to the neck - LOL!

Seriously though, great relative modal-arpeggio ideas here. Very useful!

  • Anybody know what kind of guitar he's playing?

  • @Baka237 You aren't learning anything. :) Experimental? ..that's an excuse right?

  • @Calibrains I send you the question mark.

  • @Baka237 Thank you. I'll use it wisely.

You did say that TruefireTV was f******* teaching s***. I translated your comment . You should continue 'experimenting'. Bye

  • @Calibrains Hm, I guess you need an eyecheck. I am done arguing<3

  • @Baka237 Got my eyecheck on page 3 of the comments. I read marked as spam. BAKA237. That's you that is. I didn't realise you'd started arguing. Bye

  • It's all GREEK to me. (Get it? "greek?" Nevermind.)

  • @LovejarMusic LOL!

  • @LovejarMusic LoL thats the laugh of today. multi funny!

  • @LovejarMusic I get it bud. lol I like it. Peace. : )

  • @LovejarMusic xD!

  • @LovejarMusic L O L, good times.

  • @LovejarMusic

All minor keys have 3 different minor modes/scales Dorian, phyrigian, and aeolian and all majors keys have 2 different types of major scales Ionian and lydian. Aeolian is the minor scalee very one knows its the natural minor scale, or the minor scale. A simple example of an aeolian scale can be easily understood in C major ionian. C D E F G A B C to find the aeolian mode simply take the 6th note in the scale and treat it as the first as such. A B C D E F G A this is a natural min

  • to find the other two types of minor scales you have to find out which major Ionian scales A is either the 2nd note or the 3rd. in the key G major Ionian, A is the second note in the scale. G A B C D E F# G. So as we did in C, we will treat A as the first in G. A B C D E F# G A. this is known as the dorian minor mode because unlike A natural minor this scale includes F# instead of F. which gives it a different sound when compared to A aeolian. The last minor scale is A phrygian.

  • which is when A acts as the 3 note in a ionian major scale. which would be F major Ionian. F G A Bb C D E F

So once again we switch it around to get A phrygian : A Bb C D E F G A. this is different from both Aeolian and dorian scales because when comparing it. A aeolian doesn't have a Bb but a B. and Dorian doesn't have a Bb either and has an F# instead of an F. I probably lost you here. But Hey i thought i'd give it a shot an attempt to help you connect a few dots. All modes really are are

  • contexts. When a note is acting as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th, note in a major scales.

Ionian the note is the 1st

    dorian the 2nd

    phrygian the 3rd

    lydian the 4th

    mixolydian the 5th

    Aeolian the 6 th

    locrain the 7th

it makes more sense as you go along and trust me don't down it if you don't understand it it really is useful the more you learn about it. Just keep rexamining and playing with it. Modes, scales, and keys are the language of harmony, the more you learn about it the more

  • musically literate you become.

  • @LovejarMusic Classic.

  • it's because all the modes have Greek names!!!

  • @LovejarMusic I once had a bet in a bar about anciente Greece and the first cities and stuff. The first time it was useful to me to know my modes.

  • this guy rules,

  • Interesting guitar - anyone know anything about it?

  • @noslen1968 Steinberger

  • Great ... Allan holdsworth inspired improvisation but this is for very advance players

  • @PVS21m Quite easy to understand in time.

  • you lost me when you started playing lol

  • this video is not for real beginners..^^im a beginners..lol..
