  • 2:52 GM FAILS!

  • I was waiting for the e46 to pass since it's such a superior car. Suspension tuning can make alot possible. To say domestics can't handle and only go fast in a straight line is old school BS.

  • Camaros are a straight line car they are heavy and suck in the corners. Did you hear the driver of the BMW say how much mods the camaro driver had to do to get it to run like that. Its basically a whole different car and it still went off the track.. Camaro owners keep your cars at the drag strip.

  • @williecycle @JPARKERZ28 that camaro had alot more than 2k worth of mods done to it. It was more like full on roll cage , gutted interior for weight reduction , numerous engine modifications.. shit the break kit was probably more than 2k alone on that thing. Anyone who here who thinks a camaro with only 2k worth of additions can run with a BMW E46 on a track is ignorant.

  • @krohn63 alright camaros can handle just not well stock. and sounds too me that the guy in the camaro has money. not talant=P haha but the BMW did good but my camaro has a lot of suspension done and i think mine handle's better than that one. everyone says american cars cant handle. not true. anything can handle with some time and money. if my american muscle car can only go straight fast then your import cant go fast in a straight line. anything is possible guys stop arguing=]

  • @krohn63 theres no way a brake upgrade would cost 2k for an f-body, also the camaro doesnt have IRS, and in the description it also says an air intake? so a lid or a filter or are you talking about the manifold? so what are the numerous engine modifications? personally I think you can get more performance out of an ls1 fbody than the bmw for the same amount of money spent track or strip but dont get me wrong id still love to have either of those cars

  • @sovnyet uhh you do not obviously know car prices, try a brembo kit alone fronts w/ lines using stock master cylinder can cost 3k....

  • @krohn63 I've seen Z28's do some cool shit stock. They don't handle as good as an M3, but they will beat it in a straight away for sure. Shit, they have more than a hundred horsepower more depending on the year.

  • @williecycle

you do know that a E46 M3 and M6 LS1 Camaro weigh close to the same right ?

F-bodys can handle , just you really need to know what your doing to push them to their limits (i dont). the only limiting factor is the live axle, however being a 4 link, solong as the road is smooth they actually feel quite planted. the fact you can run 315's in the the back and 275's in the front helps too. To say no camaro can handle is an inaccurate statement.

  • so much for camaros handling like shit sure it had maybe 2g worth of BOLTONS hahaha, but is still way cheaper then the bmw. say what you want the bmw could not catch it in the corners... until the camaro spun out which happens to any body that pushes their car to the limit. the 4th gens handle...

  • @JPARKERZ28 that camaro had alot more than 2k worth of mods done to it. It was more like full on roll cage , gutted interior for weight reduction , numerous engine modifications.. shit the break kit was probably more than 2k alone on that thing. • @krohn63 they can and do simple as that. you take a good driver and let him drive both i am sure he would have a better time in the bmw... but just because you have an e46 doesn't mean you are a race car driver. i have seen many camaros take these out in time attacks that was my point

  • wow i thought this beamer driver was gona pass him on a corner or something in that last lap the camaro was pulling away...its ok im satisfied with the camaro's performance i would love to take my camaro on a track like that...with suspension work properly done on mine im sure it'll handle great

  • @LILHURKULEEZ you should take it out on the track its a blast!!!! worth every penny.

  • @krohn63 sweet will do...its hard finding one out here in california tho...i live in los angeles traffic capitol

  • GO get em M!

  • Nice video.

  • that camaro doesn't belong there. haha The E46 M3 weights 3,461 lbs and a SS camaro 3,439 lbs

  • @stick00it thanks for the info... if i had to guess that camaro weighed in alot less than a stock given the weight reducitons it had.

  • doesnt matter if he was faster. crash is a crash

  • How much did that M3 cost? Nice driving.

  • I just sold it for 21k it was a 2002 w 76k miles when i sold it.

  • i own a 2002 camaro z28 i love it its supper fast i take m3s all the times but im not gona lie it has a shity handling its just good for straight line

  • @samandshayan10 if you set them up right they are good my camaro usually takes people at the autox... but ive been doing that in the same car for about 2 years now so that could help

  • I wonder how you would have faired against a ls1 corvette?

Good driving on both parts, I've actually owned an e36 m3, a z28 camaro, and I now own a z06, so I kinda understand all of what I'm seeing.

I'm surprised the camaro did as well as it did, I never really enjoyed autox'ing in mine

  • The guy driving the camaro was a VERY good driver he was pushing that car to 10/10 tenths ... the el cheapo tires I had on my car where being put to the test for sure. I had an e 36 m3 before this car and loved it. I think your z06 would do very well on this track.

  • It looks like the driver was getting a little to desperate and too pushy he should of slowed down a little and cut the turn more inside!

  • nice chase!! :)

fine skills, both drivers.. the z28 driver must had felt some pressure...

  • did u hit a cone right before the camaro went into the grass? i heard a THUMP! :D

  • LOL... It sure sounded like I hit a cone.. I never noticed that until you pointed it out. I think your right..

  • how much does it cost to race on a track like that?

  • at that track its cheap.. only about 135 for the day if you have a group of 10 or 12. 135 per person for 8 hours of track time. gas and tires cost more than that almost

  • ///M for life right here (all you vette and camro drivers hehe)

  • At some point M3 started fallin behind, but then the Z lost it. I was surprised the Z's brakes could handle all that till I saw the description

  • Yea the z had a pretty nice big brake kit installed on it. The driver was pretty damn good too!

  • poor camaro... camaros for life

  • "Tires win races, Cole".

  • Even with those modifications the E46 M3 still costs more. That Camaro was sticking to the M3 pretty good until that one turn. Pretty damn good I would say for a car with solid rear axle suspension.

Even if you bought a 2001 M3 and a 2001 Camaro Z28 today you would pay twice as much for the M3 versus the Z28. Give the "I'm running stock" BS a rest. You're running a car that's easily twice the cost of the Camaro. Try a 2001 Z06, that's more in the comparable price range. You'll lose.

  • The z06 has two more cylinders and no back seat. and only makes about 50 more HP(385) compared to my m3 which is a naturally aspirated Inline 6 cyclinder motor making about 333 HP. Efficent engineering something american muscle cars have lacked in the past.

I like the z06 and I think it would be a pretty fair fight. However the M3 is not an 8cylinder so Im not so sure how fair it really is.

My car is much more suited for a daily driver and has backseat and trunk space to spare.

  • So what if it's not an 8 cylinder? I don't know how efficient the M3 6 cylinder is. It produces good power that's true but efficiency usually denotes economy and the M3 doesn't get good fuel economy. As well I've heard many a BMW owner bitch about repairs and lack of reliability. Why would you make such a big deal about the Camaro being modified and your car being stock? Obviously the solid rear needs some assistance in the circuit especially when it's competing with more expensive cars.

  • What's wrong with giving the Camaro it's props?

  • its funny you mention the resale value and the price of the cars... as an investment i would take a BMW over a camaro anyday... how well does a modern camaro hold its value over the years compared to say a modern bmw? The answer is it doesnt.

The cars are totally different and I get that. I was simply pointing out that my car was stock and the camaro was not. If you can get past the price point I think we agree to disagree.

  • You just can't give the Camaro props can you? I'll get over the "price" as soon as you give the Camaro the props it merits, yeah it had suspension mods but it has a solid rear axle and doesn't have the costly factory parts that an E46 M3 has.

A car that is driven for enjoyment is not an investment, you ALWAYS lose money on that car. The only cars that are "investments" are classic cars that require restoration and even then often more input is required than actual output gotten in return.

  • I don't think he understands that the driver in the camaro completely blew him away in a situation where the bmw should of had the upper hand. That camaro was being pushed to the max by what I would consider a highly talented driver. The z28 modifications still would make it

  • AT MOST moderately tied to what the bmw could actually do despite the suspension, tires, and brake kits ( which still total less money than the bmw and all of its performance parts ). You can upgrade these to the max on a lot of cars, but it still won't match the engineering put behind some more modern vehicles. The 8 cylinder excuse is BS because at least your saving weight with a 6 and most imports with four or more cylinders can easily out move and handle a lot of cars out there today.

  • You don't save weight with a 6. The LS1 is lighter than most 6 cylinders (and even some 4s), and roughly the same weight as any BMW I6.

  • ls1 is 200 lb heavier than an e36 325i , had both in the same e36 , and weigh bridged them individually

  • I agree

The camaro in this video is driven by a highly skilled driver who has been racing cars the better part of over 20 years. As i stated this car was brought in on a trailer its not a full on race car but its very heavily modded and was piloted by a VERY skilled driver.

  • My track experience is about 10 track days and 5 autocross. By no means do I think Im a better driver. He should have waved me buy but he didnt. At this track there is no forced passing. Its a test and tune session only. His pride got in the way and he ended up off the track.cant blame him.I have nothing against american muscle cars if I could have my previous two back I would in a heart beat.I like my BMW more for many reasons including what its capable of right out of the box.

  • Are you joking? The camaro has held it's value to the original cost it had when it first came out in the 93-97 models, the 98-02 is more than it was, and the classics go up to 250,000 plus! The demand is low for a used bmw because it doesn't age well ( it looks old and boring ) because its always the same body style being reformated. Not to mention there so easy to find.

  • The reason some M owners complain is becuase they dont know how to take care of their car... if u maintain it well enough, it's a strong ass car... I like camaros too, but when I was about 16-17 I was looking for a camaro and yes they do have very poor resale value... Back then I saw models that were not too old going for $5K... at age 22 I bought my 03 e46 m3... it has a K&N FIPK intake, Dinan Chip, and Agency Power TIT TIP exhaust... its good for about 360HP...

  • I agree that the better you take care of the car the longer it will last. The fact remains that the Camaro is less expensive to modify, less expensive to maintain and therefore if you factor out styling and preference the better value for the tuner.

How much you pay for you E46? how much for the mods listed? I respect the M3, it's a great looking and performing car just not my style.

  • I payed $27K with only 50K Miles on it... the mods I got were angel eye headlights with projectors ($300), upgraded to LED Tail Lights ($300), K&N 57 FIPK Intake ($180, used from craigslist, new for $320) Dinan Software ($300), H/R Lowering Springs (Came with the car)... and I'm trying to get the power agency titanium tip exhaust

  • dawg.. I like camaros .. fact is I have owned a 88 firebird formula and a 95 mustang GT.. a 98 E36 m3 and now my current car the 03 E46 M3 shown here.

  • No way a z28 with stock suspension could do so well against an e36 m3 on a track, he has to have suspension upgrades.

  • my car is an e46 m3 and yes your right that camaro has lots of upgrades attached to it... Big break kit... r -compound tires, and suspension upgrades throughout. Im running 100 % stock with low grade fuzion tires..

  • Oh yeah, I meant e46... sorry.

  • Fuzion tires smell good.

  • are you the owner of Khron racing?

  • I wish I was the owner or a distant relative but Im not...

  • and mods go farther than just suspension...if a turbo charger is installed it wont make less body roll...just a thought

  • how can you tell the camaro has body roll from that distance?

  • doesnt look like the camaro has any mods, cause it has body roll, which means its still stock.

  • why would I make that up? That car was brought in a trailer.... no bullsh$%T set up for track days from the brake pads and tire set up he was running and all of the suspension mods..

  • off the track...good job
