  • It's called 720 wannabe.

  • 13' 1" is impressive in the high jump round...highest i ever got was about 11'5" or 11'6"

  • i bought this game today, how do you land the tricks in the half-pipe can anyone help me ???

  • Joust is funny sick!

  • memories!!! wow

  • Beast

  • I think I could take you on the joust, but that halfpipe was just ridiculous, I couldn't land even the most basic trick, just rail slides all day. What about Ski Or Die? I remember the Acro Aerials event, if you mashed the buttons just right you'd fly into outerspace. Ohhh Nintendo.

  • i use to play this on game boy !! awesome times. California games was awesome too

  • dude how do you do a 360 over the gap in the race part? I can only get him to move slightly right or left and then you fuck up. I remember I used to be able to do it back in the day. Somebody help me out here!!

  • @NeuralNetProcessor I do the run in Goofy Foot. You gotta start rotating as soon as you leave the ground. There's very little room for error.

  • OMG i used to play this game all the time when i was a kid!!

  • they need to bring skate or die back

  • dang, i remember my older brother used to play this

  • nice job man!

  • joust is badass in this game 2 player

  • "Bag big points for rad moves!"

I used to play this all the time as a kid. While it had only five modes, it was very fun and addicting. Sometimes I would deliberately crash during a really high jump in the high jump just to see my dude bust a hole in the ground. Interestingly, I could still hum along to the music during this video even though I haven't heard it since probably the early 90s.

Oh, and doncha like the skate shop guy's 'do? :)

  • NO BAILS! :P

  • remember that game!

  • the joust was IT!!!

  • played this on my ega PC. bit different to the nes version. absolute classic none the less. thanks

  • i played that game all the time

  • is ja lol

  • A "head tilt" in respect of abilities that out weigh my own in skate or die.

  • You kick ass, as much for your gaming chops as for not talking during the video like everyone else who does game clips.

  • the game in a 3:26 nutshell.... highjump always pissed me off

  • damn i suck at this game.

  • THIS IS SKATE 3 !!!!!

  • I remember getting much higher on the high jump on the c64. I got this little joystick that I could twist like crazy and got way out of the screen.

  • why EA didn't do a remake of this skate game?

  • bor krass,das haben wir früher auf c64 gezockt,wie die wahnsinnigen!^^ geil!

  • my record +23000 pts

  • Rad!

  • DAMN, you should be sponsored. xD

  • This dude is a shit jajajajaaj demit

  • way to get the cop car in Jam. I didnt figure that out for years.

  • I miss getting my ass kicked at this game by my step sister. Ah nostalgia!

  • Scratch that... I hated the high jump event cuzz I didn't understand it.

  • I LOVED this game when I was younger. I hated that stupid joust game though, and I was a cheater at the downhill race.

  • cheater...?? Did you unplug their controller or something? That lead to a few fist-fights in my house growing up!

  • The Ultimate Gamer my hat's off to you on beating this game

Man was it a pain in the ass for me

  • Well, to quote Cleveland from Family Guy, you don't win the game, you just do a little better each time.

Keep practicing; you'll get this good in due time.

  • @TheUltimateGamer07 Dude I got a crazy sense of nostalgia watching this. I remember running home from the school bus stop to play this game after school, lol. Nice Cleveland quote also :P

  • i want this game

  • Does anyone remember the "joust" game on Skate or Die?? That was my favourite. I used to play it Commodore 64 all the time !!

  • Tony who?

LOL :p This video made me wanna see if Family Matters was on.

Awesome video of an awesome game from an awesome time in video game history. Thanks for bringing back some wonderful old memories.

  • lol

  • Damn, this boy don't fuck around.

  • dang..gooood tiiiimes

  • this was some great runs i use goofy foot for the race as well it is way better! you smoked my score of 16k for sure im gunna werk to beat the 17k because you can bust 360 on 2 other jumps if u hit the tunnel i havent done it yet but i cant see any other way of beating it

  • When I see the memories are alive

    man I'm old

    ne klasse second was earlier:)

How many games it has played

    Commodore 64 rulz:)

    greetings from germany

  • 0:42 Over 9000 score.

  • goooot damn this game brings back memories...

  • agree

i miss so much that time!!

    good games

  • who needs a ps3 lol

  • I couldn't agree with you more.

  • I second (third?) that.

  • I third (fourth?) that.

  • i fourth (fifth?0)that.

  • i fifth (sixth?) that.

  • Your skills are BEYOND EXCELLENT, sir!

For the record, Kyouehi Sada's music KICKS ASS in this game! He's about as awesome as Yuzo Koshiro, when it comes to music!

And this game will ALWAYS be EPIC WIN!

  • Thanks. This took a lot of practice to perfect.

And I do want to point out I find it better to use a joystick as opposed to a regular controller. It makes the High Jump a lot easier. Whenever I play the NES, since both my original controllers frayed out, I began using the NES Advantage Joystick on a regular basis.

  • lol...this is for pentium -3421

  • this game has AMAZING GRAPHICS

  • directx10

  • look at those shadows! so realistic!

  • so sweet... great job.

  • man the music in this game is rad

  • I enjoyed playing this when I was little even though I was not good at it.

But, I swear I heard that song that plays during the Jam level somewhere when i was very young, around the late 80s, before I got into video games. More than once too. Was it on the radio? A tv commecial? A movie? I wish I knew.

There isn't an actual band that played that song right? There were plenty of songs on nes games where it seemed like I heard them somewhere before playing the game.

  • holy crap they have a skateboard game on proj 64

  • this is one of my fav games !!! I spent one summer in during my youth playing this!

  • That's both awesome and kinda sad.

  • Mmm, gimme that steak!

  • @Woodpig91 it's not really that sad considering it was 120 fucken degrees outside.

  • played very well. my fav skateboarding game of all time. so much fun!

  • yo big air was awesome.

  • jees u taught me that 7 feet is not high and my scores suck ass compared to u and u can jump the islands

  • It's better if you use a joystick instead of a regular controller for the High Jump.

As for the downhill, you need to learn how to use the Goofy Foot stance. It's easier to jump, but harder to duck, hence why I don't go through the pipe.

  • My best on the Ramp was over 18,000...I have been vested... T__T

GOTTA PLAY AGAIN! GOTTA GET BETTER!!!

  • the dudes looks like f****** micheal jackson

  • WIERD BUT COOL

  • Here's how the routine went: 1 - Railslide 2 - Kickflip 3 - Stall 4 - 720 Aerial over channel 5 - Alley-oop 6 - 720 Aerial over channel 7 - Handstand 8 - 720 Aerial over channel 9 - 540 Ollie 10 - 720 Aerial over channel Note: Doing any move over the channel nets you bonus points, just don't land on the channel or you'll wipe out. Also, to get that 9,000-point bonus at the end, you must successfully do one of each move available.
  • Stall: hold forward when you reach the edge, but don't hold too long

Alley-oop: hold back when you reach edge

Kickflip: pump a few times with A and hold back

Railslide: pump a few times and hold forward then grind with up or down, don't go over edge

Handstand: pump a lot and hold back, don't hold too long

Ollie: pump a lot and hold forward, must land correctly, can move around so stay on ramp

Aerial: same as Ollie, but don't hold direction at edge

  • bigger pool wheels will roll on grass, chances are in the 80's most peoples wheels were bigger. I can take my pool board on grass.

  • This game had such a great soundtrack

  • i love this game...i was going to say thee's no way you got that high jump without a turbo of some sort...i killed my hand wth cramps one day trying a legit high jump and got around 10' something haha

  • Yeah, you need a turbo joystick like the NES Advantage. You need to rotate the stick to get some momentum.

  • Holy shit. You're good at this game. I suck at skate or die, but it's so fun to play. Gameplay wise and for nostalgia sake.

  • and I don't know many people who can roll on grass, ollie over a pond, then land on grass and roll away. haha. nostalgia!

  • seriously...i could do everything somewhat like this guy except the grass sakting part - truly awesome

  • why would you want to skate over cans?

  • This game is such a god game. The Music is amazing, I rememberp playing through learning curve just ot listen to the sounds..Definitely a hard one to master, but man when you nailed it - it was like christmas..Good stuff.

  • Thanks.

With the half-pipe deal, I did about fifty takes. I had the routine all planned out beforehand.

I probably could have done better with the Joust timewise.

I don't think I could top 13'1" on the High Jump. (You need a turbo joystick, there's no way around it.)

I actually did a lot of takes with the other events as well and put together the video using my best ones.

  • just @ a curiosity i was never able 2 make the siren on the police car @ the bottom of the jam course 2 go off how did u do it is there something i missed

  • All you have to do is successfully jump onto the police car without crashing.

  • Estos si son juegos no estupideces como las que hay ahora.

  • Estos juegos son clásicos.

  • All I remember about this was me eating it...

  • i can easily beat the halfpipe score. you gotta grab quick while spinning over the channel.

  • Hahah I remember those punks would try beat u up!

  • i play this game sooooo much it was soooooo good if even remember the pain (the open wounds of the fingers) when you did the third trial in the video fock where is the time, thx

  • This is better than EA skate! :D

  • hell no :0

  • Yaye!^^

  • Yesus Moschiach please save the little gamers from the evil Shatan

  • the ppl that made this game must have made the original excitebike too cause there is the same sound effects haha NES was the best

  • Konami and Nintendo are totally different. And I cant hear any same sounds either.

  • LMAO!!!! LOL....LOL....LOL...I cant stop laughing we used to play this on my friends mom's computer excuse me "APPLE" I cant beleive this you took me way back!!!!

  • wow sooo much diffrent bak then now u got the 360s and ps3s withthe game skate lol

  • Fuck me... I haven't played this in over 18 years :)

    I want the 80's back!

  • goofy or regular? ;]

  • I usually do Goofy Foot.

  • omg...this game brings back so many memories of when i was a kid...awesome!!!

  • wow dude you own, played this game to death a youngn, just downloaded it on my wii, harder then i remember lol.

  • Nice job! Took me a while to get good at this game way back when..

  • LOL!!!!!!!!!!! I remember playin this game. CLASSIC!!! Thanks for posting.

  • Thank you. I personally think that this is my best gameplay video to date.

  • SO AWESOME.... This really brings back memories. i played this for hours and hours. Thanks alot

  • "Thank you. I personally think that this is my best gameplay video to date."

yea i hear you. if it wasn't for games like this we wouldn't have what we do today.

  • I even remember the music! it was so aweseome! it still is

  • In the 80's in my neighborhood, you weren't cool unless you owned this game

  • How do you do the high jump? I would push left-right and a + b rapidly and that would not work and get around 1 foot. Hated joust since I would get owned. I've joined the over 20k pt club on freestyle as well. (Shameless shout out to myself)

  • There are some games you can't play without rapid-fire, like Skate or Die and Track and Field II. I use the NES Advantage Joystick. You only need to hit the A button and left-right on the pad. Hit B to record the jump.

  • You don't need turbo for the high jump, but it is much easier to use a joystick instead of a conventional controller. You jack up your speed by rotating the stick.

  • omg you were good at this?? haha, i constantly played this back in the day, got nowhere with it, haha.

  • is das aufm c64?? :D

  • This is the NES version.

  • I can't believe I remember playing this when I was like four or five on my NES. Thanks for the nostalgia.

  • hell yeah I remember this game when I was like 5 man. The kids growin up now can't apreciate a classic. They all have 360 and ps3's growing up

  • I think I used to play this game on the commodore 64, was a fun game but that's all i remember

  • Spectacular vid - I didn't realise you could get anything over 17500 on the freestyle! The joust is great too. You can get a much higher score on the downhill jam if you use the noob trick of going horizontally back and forth across the screen, knocking over Lester with each pass (500 points per smash). I once got over 40k doing that. It worked on the PC version anyway, I don't know about the NES.

  • Well, once you master all the tricks (especially the 720 over the channel), it's very easy. If you do every trick possible (stall, handstand, aerial, ollie, railslide, kickflip, and alley-oop) you'll get the 9,000 point bonus at the end.

As for the Jam, speed and the police car jump was my primary concern for points.

  • NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you beat my downhill race scare :('''' but other than that nice video :)

  • I was always so bad at this game... especially the freestyle!

  • Man, only a month on YouTube and this is already one of my top five watched videos. Thank you guys so much.

  • I still have my NES and many of my old games including this one

  • I loved this game! Wish I still had my NES and all the games :(

  • aw man, i could never get good at this game when i was a kid! i hated it!

do you have any videos of "California Games" ? That was always a fun one!

  • I'll have to shake off a few years of rust, but I might consider a California Games video.

  • Shut Up and Skate

  • this brings back the old game boy memories, i used to have this game on gameboy

  • Cool game ;D

  • The game looks surprisingly great. For an NES game, it must have kicked ass.

  • It is a great game and it ranks as one of my favorite games. If I were you, I'd give it a try. This video covers pretty much everything in the game, not to mention you can compete with seven other players at once, almost like a mini X-Games.

  • And here I thought that the first game to feature skateboarding was the Tony Hawk series. Anyways, that was pretty impressive.

  • Well, here's a little bit of info for you. There actually have been skating games even before this. One of the first games I ever owned in my life was a game called 720 Degrees. And believe it or not, this game got its title from one of the catchphrases in 720 Degrees.

  • Awesome. You're pretty good at that game.

  • Thanks. I'm especially proud of that half-pipe performance. I took a lot of time planning it out so I did every trick at least once as well as maximizing my points. It took me numerous tries to perfectly nail the routine, especially when it came to nailing four 720-degree aerials over the channel in one go.
