(this assumes the dog is calm when Swayze picked him up because if this dog is as vicious as you claim, Swayze wouldn't be able to pick the dog up in the first place.)

Secondly, how would it be quicker to pick up a dog and wait for a person to get close to throw the dog than to continue running? Obviously it didn't work because Keanu catches right up to him after this.
