I was always a Glenn Brenner fan. Pope John Paul II had just been named the leader of the Catholic Church and I remember watching his highlights of a Redskins and Cardinals game. He is showing footage of the game and Joe Theisman is in the pocket surrounded by Cardinal linemen. Glenn then said the funniest line i ever heard by a sportscaster; "Here's Joe Theisman with more Cardinals around him than the Pope". God bless you Glenn!
The 1991 Marine Corps Marathon (November 3, 1991) was my first marathon. The weather was gorgeous that day: Sunny, with a very slight breeze. I had not heard of any fatalities, and was just happy that I had finished in good shape. Does anyone know what his finishing time was on that day?
When Glenn Brenner died, it was as if the President was shot. Everything in DC stopped. Channel 9 dedicated an entire newscast to him. The competing stations in DC did over 20 minutes on his. Every person at every station was in tears. Just an amazing person to have that kind of affect on people.
Glenn Brenner WAS the best sports caster!! My dad always loved to watch him on Redskins Sidelines and channel 9 all the time. So sad that he died. There will never be another. I just pulled out some old beta tapes and found some Glenn Brenner material on them.
Wow...forgot how much I missed Glen....watched all three parts and I'm just so glad I'm old enough to remember how special that guy was and how fun watching the news was...I remember when he recieved an Emmy and the next day he came to work with the stature mounted as a hood ornament on his car and used it as a necklace and paper weight...he was just a funny funny guy...
Yes, thank you for posting this! I cried my eyes out when Glenn Brenner died. I have clips recorded on VHS tape; I'm glad to know they will live on online.
Sorry I hit the wrong hand. I too am teary eyed watching this story. Glenn Brenner will always be my favorite sportscaster and is still missed. He was in fact the best.
Thank you so much for posting this! Even though almost 20 years have passed since Glenn died, I still choked up while watching the montage at the end. He was the best.

Loved Glenn Brenner. Loved the first Joe Gibbs era. Joe's need to play the Christ card every five seconds on the other hand...
