  • Fabion2011, you have to get out there and hit the venues in the area: Busboys and poets (4 locations), Spit Dat, and Annie's Art Gallery is a good start.

  • wow. ok thanks

  • The word is still used because the blacks are still using it. You don't hear white people calling each other cracker. Or Japanese people calling eachother Japs. Or Chinese people calling eachother Chinks. But you do hear black people calling themselves nigger. It gives the racists more power over you, because if you call yourselves niggers why can't they call you niggers? Oooooh, you took that word back. Nah. Stop fucking using it.

  • Got"cha

  • I absolutely loved this. yoru words can keep me thinking. Your and inspiration to so many includin me.

  • Is this actually Lamont Carey? (not in the video, obviously that's lamont, I mean running this channel)

  • yes

  • Wow, you're the man. I first heard you perform on Def Poetry Jam, you did "I can't read" and I thought it was awesome (as this poem is). I love your work.

  • Please continue to inspire...

  • thank you. I will do my best

  • Lamont, you are wonderful. I just keep going from video to video wondering if you can get any better then you do. This made me rethink the entire way I think about that word, and it enlightened me. Thank You

  • U r welcome. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to keep impressing you. I am glad that i am able!!! If you would have told me what you were going, I would have been a little shaky.

  • wat? listen 2 the words don't b consumed by the image. really...out of everything that was said all u saw was his head scarf.

  • i think this is true we need to stop degrading ourselves as black people with the n word.....i feel you on this one

  • thank u

  • LOL

  • i HATE to hear us call each other the n word, too!!! and you know what i hate just as much? to hear women (ANY women) refer to their "friends" as their bitches, instead of just saying their girls. or use the phrase "that's a bad bitch" about another woman they supposedly respect. but i appreciate your gift, LC!!! YOU ARE MAAAAADDD TALENTED!!!!

  • I appreciate that. I understand exactly how you feel

  • I agree. I am still learning

  • u are the truth....like...i love ur poetry...i'm a poet too..nd i'm light skin did..lol i feel dawg..that word must go!

  • LOL...you picked up on that...LOL

  • i think this is really true amoung blacks, and amoung our culture period, time and time again we try to change bad things to make them good, i've seen time and time again where black kids go tothe back of the school bus every morning and for what? when rosa parks risked her life to change that and now she gets no respect other than a text book. I feel this is the same with the N word. a word so disgusting and degrading yet we try to use it as you said yourself Lamont "a term of indearment".

  • I agree with you. However, i remember (at least i thought) i use to sit at the back of the bus so I can see everything that happens on it. I do agree with you

  • i never seemed to look at it like that. and i can't say that you are the only one hopefully that is the reason why most black white or whatever color sits on the back of the bus, but it just seems within our society that things are respected such as the rosa parks struggle, or the history of the N word to their full influence. But regardless great poetry, i am a student as University of South Florida you should come and speak in our University Lecture Series. It would be awesome

  • Kids almost ALWAYS gravitate to the back of the bus/classroom. It is to see in front of you, so the people behind you aren't watching you (because they are not there), and so you can get away with more because you aren't as close to the teacher/driver. I thought that was a universal, regardless of color. The ones that go to the front are usually the good students/over-achievers. Everyone else slides to the back.

  • More people definitely need to watch your videos and really, really, REALLY hear your words.

  • thank u

  • Stand Up Speak Up:D

    Talented!

  • Thank you

  • Love the historical references at the beginning (a house divided, 3/5ths of a man).

Not many know that unless you have read some history and who are we really without the context of our past?

  • LOL...Thank you

  • PREACH!!!!
