LOVE The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad & The Killing, all on AMC. They's really raised the bar on what quality television should be. I agree, it's like watching movies. Also, love BBC's modern full-length Sherlock Holmes series. Didn't think I would enjoy it as much I do. Sadly, we have to wait forever before the next season, which left us with one hell of a cliffhanger of an ending. You might check that out as well. Different genre as TWD, but great storytelling and characters, nonetheless.

@picassopainter2 I do agree with you, but a point of the comic was to create a drama, using the Zombie Apocalypse scenario to create a lawless society to explore human nature, and emotion. The show isn't doing a super great job at that, but I still love what it is that they are doing. I know the word "drama" has a lot of negative connotations associated with it, but if people looked at it more like a drama, the lack of zombie killing in season 2 would be more accepted. I don't mind it, really.

Season 1 - constant danger and struggle for survival, always doing something, traveling the wasteland

@Wr3cTV Merle was in the middle of Atlanta, the target practice takes place in a random field, miles and miles away from any large cities, surrounded by forest. Merle was shooting zombies for fun. The target practice was necessary for survival. You need to think out your criticisms more. Season 2 has been fucking great so far, and if you think you know better than everyone else, good riddance. Don't watch the show anymore.

Also, in season one they said walkers could smell them. In season two they hid under cars while an entire herd walked past them...

Even I said wtf while I was watching the episode and the walkers didn't smell them, but that question was asked on The Talking Dead, and the answer was that they DO have the ability to differentiate between living and dead flesh, when they're right in front of them, but they don't sniff people out like bloodhounds.

@Sanderism this is true, you need character development. no disagreements here... but let me point out a few of the flaws that irritated me.. for one, no one tries to improvise any kind of real plan, it's just omg! zombies! run! the whole damn world is at your disposal. construction equipment, SWAT vans, all that good stuff. hell, Rick had a tank. did he try to see if it worked? nope, just run from the zombies. i'm just sayin, a little less drama, a little more action. still a good show.

It wasn't that there was lack of character, and it wasn't that I want mindless zombie killing. I wanted someone to step up and take the lead of the situation and be organized. Not some kid being shot because of a damn deer and holding up the plot for two episodes. BUT if the kid got bitten and was struggling only to die. THAT would be plot/development.

PART 3

..The third(?) episode of T.W.D. is already tackling racism in an interesting and endearing way, and it only gets better. I dont wanna give anything away, but later one of the themes is whether or not life is worth living in a world that is so fucked up(very relevant topic atm), and the way it is portrayed is truly endearing and downright heartwrenching.

It inspires hope in the human condition, a truly AMAZING feat for a zombie flick. all in all..

...I think its kinda ridiculous to talk about which is better. I liked Breaking Bad because you never really knew who the "bad guy" was and you basically got a bad conscience rooting for ANYBODY. But I felt B.B. was severely lacking in..."Humanity", if i may.

The Walking Dead on the other hand tackles some really HEAVY topics(never thought I would say that about ANYTHING with zombies), and does so with real compassion in the midst of all the horror.

Both are EXCELLENT shows, in their own right. But They have little in common as far as substance goes, imo. The similarities I see are the slow camera shots (which I love, especially in B.B, New mexico is perfect for that), the good acting and they Novel-like storytelling. In other words, they are not geared towards mindfucked, "ADHD" plagued, mentally demoralized americans. See, you 2 already have something in common!

But a few reasons are that I find all the characters boring, the story hardly reflects the arguably fascinating, historical times it's in, and many times I've seen a fan of the show talk about the hotness of characters as opposed to what they really like about it. Reminds me of the fandom of Tru Blood. Just superficial like with a good few people. Though that last part is just a pet-peeve, the first 2 are the reasons I just couldn't get into it. *shrug*

Was thinking of getting Netflix just for this show. Finally got my trial month yesterday. Watched 2 episodes since then. I must say i am pretty disappointed.

Is there something i don't get here? For one, i don't know if i'm doing something wrong but the quality is shit (not that it matters much) using netflix on my PC. My pc rocks by the way.

Content-wise, i don't know. The mood is great and all, feels like what an actual zombie apocalypse would be like. Otherwise, nothing spectacular imo.
