  • Man I have to be honest I'm only 20 and I love all these older songs they had so much meaning and two I play guitar so I love em even more, your a great singer and player

  • Learning this myself but about half your tempo he he,very nicely done and a great voice too.

  • awesome!

  • fall in love with you!

  • So great. Very nice job!

  • Fab performance. Wht mic did u use? Im so corious. Did u add reverb?

  • @windhojong Thanks! Yes, there's a bit of reverb there. For details of my set up, go to my "FAQ" on my channel. Thanks for listening.

  • Very nice.

  • I repeat it, this cover is the perfection for this song. This guitar player is a real guitar teacher !!!

  • This is perfect ! But you make me scare with your black'eyes !!!

  • omg an old guy can use youtube? I am impressed.

  • Wow, magnificent!

  • Great voice great song and pleased to run across it. but again no life in it... find it in your heart that lost tragedy that hurt you to the point to make you want to write the song yourself.

  • this guy rocks

  • your guitar skills and voice is absolutely amazing!

  • I really enjoyed playing with you the other night in Exeter. I considered it quite an honor to be on stage with you, and in fact, I realize that I had no business being in that position. I will remember that for a long time. I'd love to see you play again, so please send me a note when you know of your next gig. Jay

  • @jayswett Exeter?? CA? Wouldn't mind listening to a live performance...very impressed.

  • @gabe3113 Exeter, NH. Definitely worth seeing live.

  • I can finger pick Beatles Yesterday just like McCartney, but can you give me a tip to finger pick really fast like you do.

  • @ahafan64 Second: if you are in the habit of resting your right-hand little finger on the sound board of the guitar while picking, stop! Take it off and never put it on again. You'll be amazed how quickly you'll become accustomed to playing that way. Took me maybe two weeks after playing for 10 years.

  • @ahafan64 Two things come to mind. First, nails. Grow natural nails and keep them well groomed. Even if you think they're "too weak" like I hear so many people say. They will get stronger if you take care of them - or at least they did in my case.

  • @ahafan64 If you feel the need for that sense of stability that resting your pinky on the sound board gives you, then use one or more of the strings themselves as a resting point. You serve a second purpose in doing this because if the string is available to be rested upon in the first place, then it's not supposed to be ringing. So resting your finger on it serves the purpose of muting it.

  • best cover i've seen. DAMN!! five stars.. *****

  • God bless you

  • @VerbinStudios Thank you!

  • Your voice is incredible...

  • @Carthief4848 Thanks!

  • Mi piaci molto......

  • I have listened to nearly all of your postings. You do a great job and have great talent. I feel guilty that you provide this entertainment.....for free.

  • @MrCharleston11 . No need for guilty feelings! I feel recompensed just having received your comment. Thanks for enjoying my music.

  • Awesome... I really enjoyed that! Love the way you play :)

  • Excellent; voice, guitar, blend, phrasing.Thanks. Next time try to find an overdub function; this is like a beautiful black and white movie -add the second voice and you'd have technicolor.

  • good job. you've got a nice voice, but i felt it was just a little too fast for me. but otherwise really great!

  • really nice. good job

  • Very nice!

Sounded a lot like the original in many ways=)

  • Excellent! I've tried to sing and play this song but the picking is tricky.

I'll watch you a few times I guess it'll help me.

  • great singing. what is the general plucking pattern you used.

  • @DMartin1997 Thanks, I'm afraid I don't now to answer this in words really, except to say it's an alternating thumb, with three upper string notes played with i,m, and a between each thumbed note. Think of the measure as divided in two with an evenly played set of four eighth notes played in each half measure and with the first of these being played by the thumb on one of the base strings (6,5 or 4.) That's the best i can do. Hope it helps.

  • You nailed it! I can't fingerpick to save my life. Really nice!

  • Perfect finger pattern Sir.. How did you pluck this? Is it 52436234?

  • I like it !

  • so fast and so stupid

  • I really enjoyed the singing, but when it got to the end, and you were just staring at the camera with a blank look, i couldnt help but to laugh!

  • @DkCub23 Thanks, I guess I need a director. ;-). I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

  • Good very good job!!!!!!

  • Great rendition. I really like it !

  • You are fantastic!! You must be performing for sure! If you aren't you must. You have great talent.

  • Marvellous work! Thank you very much for this video!

  • this is the best cover i have found of this song, thank you for being a good singer.

  • Fantastic. A cover of this caliber is rarely found.

  • I love singing Art Garfunkle's part along with this video :) You're really easy to harmonize with. Nice voice.

  • nice cover sir!

  • I love singing the harmony with you!

  • Amazing job!

I really enjoyed listening and watching you :)

Keep up the good work :)

  • Thank you ... I'm a big S&G fan ... well done.

  • wow nicely done, good job on guitar too!

  • I'd like to play this song but can't quite get the strumming down, do you have any tips you can share? I want to play this at a campfire, because as you said, everyone knows this song.

On the topic, this is a VERY great cover. I hardly heard any faulty notes, and if there were any, they weren't terrible. If you had a washboard then it'd be spot on, ha. I like your accent too.

  • Thanks! I'd like to be able to help with the strumming, but it's hard to know what I can say over the internet. I feel like I'd have to see where you are with it before I can make suggestions.

  • I guess I can't get a good beat going. Do you tap your foot?

  • Sometimes. If rhythm is the problem, I would suggest getting a metronome and practice the strumming by itself for a while at a slow tempo. Then do the same for the singing. Once those both start to feel comfortable, try putting them together with perhaps one or two bars of the song until that feels smooth. Then add more bars until you're doing the whole song. Finally, start increasing the tempo gradually until you're at the desired tempo.

  • Eh buying anything isn't an option right now. Summer isn't here yet so I can't mow lawns and I got a good 8 months until I can get a job... I am the beat of the orchestra however, so I think I'll do fine with rhythm. I don't sing though, I just play.

I think it's more of a problem of hitting the right strings at the right time.

  • One word says it all !!! GREAT !!!

  • Great Voice! Keep it up

  • Just terrific. Great vocals and guitar picking. The echo sound is great.

  • Thanks! And thanks for the sub! Happy holidays!

  • Excellent - one of the best Boxer covers I've heard.

  • thanks!

  • finaly im watching a cover of 'the boxer' from someone who can accualy sing =)

    Just Brilliant

  • Thanks !

  • Just AWESOME!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Nice voice, but i don't like the echo sound of your microphone...But that is just my taste. And sorry for my crappie English, i'm from Holland :)

  • Actually, your english is perfect as far as I can tell (except that I would have spelled it "Crappy." ;-). As for the echo, You're right. I sometimes put in a bit too much. it's easy to overdo accidently and I can't really tell until the video is uploaded. I wish I knew more about recording. Thanks for the comment!

  • aside from the excellent guitar skill, you have a very great voice, I must say! Thank you for playing this favorite song of mine!

  • A belated thank you for your comment!

  • loving the vids, one of my fav by p simon, u got tabs?

  • Thanks, I'm afraid I don't have tabs. I don't use them. Some day maybe I'll try to get something written up on some of this stuff.

  • oh right no worries.

  • Thanks! Me too!

    Mark

  • thanks!

  • Any thoughts I why I don't see any comments, only what looks like your replies to posts (although I do see my own post)? I've noticed this on a couple of other vids, too, over the last couple days.

  • I noticed this too. I think it will look more coherent if you click on the "see all comments" link.

  • Lovely!!!! :)

Don't worry, I'm sure till you get the technology worked out, I'm sure *we'll* all be singing the harmonies! lol

    Keep 'em coming! :)

  • Thanks, will do!

  • good cover. are you ever gonna use your other guitars?

  • Thanks. As for my other guitars - not sure. Depends I guess. Don't have much reason to use the electric or the nylon stringed ones. If I do an instrumental that has a lot of high-on-the-neck stuff, I might use the cutaway again. We'll see I guess.

  • Excellent rendition of this great song. Really admire your guitar playing. Thanks for the song.

  • Thank you!

  • Comment removed

  • I haven't, but I do get asked that once in a while so it makes me think I should. Gotta write some more original songs first though. Thanks for suggesting it and thanks for listening!

  • Thank you! This is just the best! I am so happy you are back...your work continues to shine. I love this!

  • Thanks Laurianni! Glad you like it!

  • thanks!

  • I always liked this song. And you did it great like all of your other songs.

  • Thanks Quinn.

  • this one of my all time favorite songs, you have put together a great verison, i was tempted to put a version of this up a while ago, but, i cant sing at all, i guess i'll just stick to instrumentals. but ya man, as usual great cover.

  • Thanks, I think I might have sent you a response meant for someone else. Sorry about that if so. Anyway, thanks for the comment. Absolutely post some instrumentals!

  • nice cover. im glad i am the first one to watch and comment this video.
