  • So rear I almost forgot about this GEM. Thank you so much for the post.

  • Her voice was angelic here..brings tears to my eyes!

  • To TYASUMMERS:

Thanks so much for posting this wonderful and very rare B-side song of Whitney's. Until several days ago, I never knew what it sounded like. Now I know, and I feel in retrospect that it should have been a hit of hers. Thanks again!!!! ;)

    Peace,

    -Matt

  • Anyway to get this song as an mp3 or mp4?

  • @SukaMusikBanget

Actually, I think this was on the B-side of "Exhale" (on a 45) in 1995 (which is kind of odd, since records had already been discontinued for some time when this song came out). I first saw a listing of this 45 on ebay, I think.

    -Matt

  • Thank you! I almost forgot how pure her voice was back then.....so BEAUTIFUL!! She was the Greatest!! It's so sad what became of her life but I want to remember her like this.

  • All I know is that Heaven is even better now that you are there. I'll see you one day Miss Houston up in Heaven. You leave behind wonderful treasures for us. RIP and God's blessings to your oved ones.

  • RIP Whitney girl and I know god is waiting on you now. and so is your father.

RIP Whitney. and Thank you sunofabishop so much for posting this.

  • @LOLOLYN1 Umm, not sure who sunofabishop is, but thank you for listening!

  • @LOLOLYN1 Oh please. Can't you see this has been up for 4 years??? You have not been looking for this forever so you can quit it!

  • @LOLOLYN1 iTunes has the track..at least it does here in Canada..look for the Exhale (Shoop Shoop) cd on iTunes..there are five tracks including "Moment Of Truth" (which was the b side to 'I Wanna Dance')

  • This song has always been one of my favorites...R.I.P. Whitney.

  • Rest In Peace!Whitney!World Will Always Love You!!!

  • Love You Whitney.

  • My favorite song by Whitney Houston. Her voice truly a gift from God. A voice that will truly be missed. I hope that people will be respectful and just rejoice in the good times and not the bad. God Bless Whitney and may God bless her family.

  • Go, and sing with the angels, baby. We love you dearly, but God loves you best. And, in his care, I know that you are at rest. My prayers are with you Ms. Cissy and your family. To God be the glory for sharing such a great talent. You will be missed.

  • OMG! I love this version of this song. Whitney could sing the phone book and it would be amazing. I am so sad to hear that we have lost her. RIP, beautiful lady, :'(

  • RIP Whitney I grew up with you you were too young!

  • @MaxMikeLatino Also b side of All The Man That I Need. x

  • I NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE AND I LOVE IT! I'VE PLAYED IT OVER AND OVER AND WAS WONDERING HOW THIS ONE WENT BY ME???

  • @rodgerbrnx it came out with a single release.. i can't remember which one again..

  • Fabulous!!!! Never heard it! I love it!!!!!

  • this got significant airplay on CD 101.9 new york in 1996.

  • this is by far her best as far as i'm concerned...very classy!!

  • @Jimbo8137 agreed!

  • Its a shame that this was never released as an A side. Can you imagine if this was promoted with a video. The music is so visual that I can picture a beautiful story to go with it. Its another magical Whitney Houston performance.

  • Today i got my "All tha man that i need"-single with this song on it. Lucky me!

  • one of all time favs.........ABSOLUTELY DOPE!!!!!

  • yes, you're right, it does deserve more recognition. and thx again to you.

  • Oh man I can't BELIEVE I found this!!! Thank soooo much for posting please dont ever remove it. I even appreciate you let the song play ALL the way.

  • @me6jusme You are welcome! I just hate how the radio cuts off songs! Don't worry, I have no intention of ever removing it, as this song certainly deserves more recognition. Many thanks for listening! :-D

  • Love it. A fan and I'd never heard it. Thanks.

  • This is definitely a nice groove by Whitney...first time hearing this today!! NICE!!

  • LOVE THIS SONG SO SMOOTH!

  • Was this on Bodyguard? or B side of Why Does It Hurt So BAd? I can't remember...

  • @rellenoz This was recorded in the I'm Your Baby Tonight era and was first released as a b-side for All The Man That I Need.

  • love this song no one like MISS HOUSTON THIS IS REAL MUSIC

  • pannoni1: That would be awesome. A "The Essential Whitney Houston" album with her biggest hits and ones that were never commercially released or weren't as recognized, like "Dancin' on the Smooth Edge."

  • kmaur21: I'm so glad to hear someone else say it. Mariah copied her vocal style from Whitney. She won't ever admit it nor will her fans. But the truth is she has spent her career trying to copy Whitney. Of course she will NEVER be Whitney Houston. Whitney is the QUEEN OF POP! Love you Whitney!

  • Who said this song sounds like Mariah Carey's song "Can' Let Go?" This sounds absolutely nothing like anything Mariah has done. If it did, the song wouldn't be as good. Mariah would oversing it. Whitney gets the perfect vocal blend on this song. Thank you again to Tyasummers for posting this.

  • I can remember when we danced and she sang that song in my ear, it was before Bobby came around....I can still remember it just like it was yesterday.....*and then I woke up*.....LOL

  • luv this song! why u didnt u put it on one of ur album

  • Gorgeous!

  • this my shit.. i love whitney for ever

  • this my shit.. i love whitney for ever

  • Such a beautiful, soft song to slow dance with the one you love.

  • Whitney's voice is beautiful, elegant and warm at any dynamic

She does not need to ever belt out high notes, she can just smoothly croon and would be the most beautiful pop singing by any female vocalist.

  • Like butter....

  • Love this song!!!

  • I never heard this song before!!!!!! Right when I I heard it I was sent into a whirlwind of pleasure!

  • Somebody stole my tape!! I've been wanting to listen t this for YEARS!!!! Man, I love his song!

  • I use to listen to this song a lot...

  • Dam!!whitney u got it bad baby!! no one sings better than whitney no one i tell yah! absolutely amazing!! best voice in the world u got me dancing on the smooth edge whitney dam!!

  • So far, no one has thought that dancing on a smooth edge was a bad idea.

  • this is from 1990

  • Whitney your voice is the dangerous angel.

  • This was a hard song to find. I had it on the back of "All the Man That I Need" and loved it ever since. One of my favorite Whitney songs.

  • Her mixed voice is so high and beautiful definitely coloratura soprano!

  • 6:02 is her voice in the background you hear how high it is!

  • Wow this make me cry, That high coloratura soprano was so so flawless. The most flawless I ever heard in my life. Why did she ever had to smoke or mess with drugs? Voices are not like this today!

  • She sounds like Denice and Minnie Ripperton here, but more perfect.

  • i love this song

  • This is definitely one of my favorite songs as well... I too have looked and asked about this song for years. Man, this song is soooo smoooth... I love it.

Thank You TYASUMMERS, I certainly appreciate it.

  • Angelic voice!!! The one and only! Perfection! ♥

  • Why this wasn't released I have no idea. It defines what Whitney was about pre vocal destruction.

  • That was lovely!

  • One of whitney's best songs !!!! My roommate is driving me crazy with this song by playing it over and over, but i don't mind it's Whitney Houston ....smile

  • i love ms. houston her voice is at it's best . i wish that she could somehow go back and not do the harm this work of art. love you whitney

  • A guy called David Lasley wrote the song and recorded it but this the better version .

  • This is a great song!

  • what is it bside?? And why it wasn´t relased?

  • I love this song; I still have the cassette tape for the I'm Your Baby Tonight" B side that this was on. This is such a beautiful song.

  • one of my favorite songs. :-D

  • truly...this is so whitney-esque...i just love her voice doing this era...this should have been a hit...thanxxx for the post...this is such a treasure...

  • the was the B side to "All the Man I Need" AND "Exhale". I see people going back and forth on here, not realizing that BOTH answers are correct...lol

  • Sweet..takes me back 10 years,when i was just starting work..love;y job!

  • when was this recorded?

  • I played this song all the time! It was on the b side of All the man that i need. I cant find this song anywhere now!

  • Sublime-great bass line and production-my favourite vocal by Whitney..by MILES!!-thanks

  • as being a total whitney fan

    1st time hearing it

    LOVE IT

  • This is unmistakably my favorite Whitney track! Thank you for sharing: I have been searching for this... many of my friends were unaware this track existed.

  • The perfect song to fall in love to.

  • Very high soprano. I can't get over how high her soprano is naturally!

  • This song is very old. lol It was on the same tape as her single He Fills Me Up.

  • You mean, "All The Man I Need"

  • this is beautiful.

  • L-O-V-E-L-Y.

  • Didn't know this song until it came as a bonus track on the new album...go figure....LOVE IT...so relaxed and brilliantly sung.....the Diva has returned!

  • bonus track on the new album?????? are you talking about whitney's new cd I LOOK TO YOU???

  • She sounds a bit like Celine Dion when she says, "Boy, you drive me crazy" at 0:10

  • haha she kinda does

  • More like Celine sounds like her " )

  • Dang, this woman can sing the ingredients of a recipe, her voice, HER voice, HER VOICE, just pure, simplicity, and yes hibiscusfreak, the name of the radio station was CD 109 FM. Man how I miss that radio station.

  • jeffreyBboy,

Actually the station was CD 101.9. You were close though! I miss it too. It was a smooth jazz station in NYC.

  • i have this song on the waiting to exhale cd single of shoop

  • @NIXat22

Isn't it on a "maxi-single"? I bought one from ebay, having 5 songs: Exhale (Shoop, Shoop), Dancing on the Smooth Edge, Moment of Truth (her obscure 1987 B-side to I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)), Do You Hear What I Hear, and It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be (with Aretha Franklin).

    -Matt

P.S. I purchased it because I had been looking for Moment of Truth on a CD single for sometime, because it wasn't on her '87 Whitney album.

    -M.T.

  • I remember this like it was yesterday!

    Played it again..and again..and again!

  • man this song was on the other side of Exhale cassette. Brings back childhood memories, I Love Whitney!!!!

  • I love this song! The only place I used to hear it was on a smooth jazz radio station in NY in the mid '90s. Then I found it on a CD with one other song (I think on Amazon).

  • whitneys a prodigy

  • aaauuuhhh another classic she is so smooth classy and yet powerfull i love this song whitney should have released this to the r&b radio it would have for sure been a classic hit i love her so much memories this song gives me so many memories thank u for posting it

  • Angelic high soprano!

  • Quiet storm Whitney!

  • Phenomenal!

  • this is one of the most beautiful vocals she ever recorded.

    i say DAMN!

    4:19 hell yeah Whitney

  • that's definitely Whitney

  • I had this song on a b side with Exhale (Shoop Shoop) when i was little. i am so glad i found it again. thanks

  • how do i find this song on limewire. i'm loving it, classic whitney like never heard before

  • go to google and search on "free youtube to mp3 converter" and itll take you to a website where you can download a software progroam. You then copy and paste the adress of the video which you want to convert... it takes around 5 minutes to do it. Good luck!

  • This is one of my favorite songs!!!! I have looked for this song for years!!! OMG!!! Thank you!!!

  • LOL! You are welcome! :)

  • Where can I purchase or download this song. It's so cool.

  • It is hard to believe why Pop and Soft AC format radio passed this song up! It is without a doubt one of Whitney's finest songs! I used to hear the Smooth Jazz format stations play this song. That is where I first heard over a decade ago.

  • They never really passed on this song as it was never a single ... just a b-side which I will never understand bc it is a great song ... same goes for her "Moment of Truth".

  • @phlirt069

I agree. A few years ago I purchased her 45 of I Wanna Dance....., and instantly loved the sound of Moment of Truth. I started feeling that that song should have been included on her Whitney album from '87, and have been hoping that that album gets re-released soon with this song as a bonus track. It's been almost 25 years, so maybe that album will be out as a 25th anniversary edition later on this year (like her first album from '85 that was re-released in 2010). ;)

    -Matt

    -Matt

  • Yeah, agree with you suavehinrg :-) I'd just like to add some minor information to you all guys, that this song was actually released in 1990 (B-side of her No.1 single, "I'm Your Baby Tonight"). It just so happened that this song was attached again in her Waiting to Exhale single in 1995

  • I love thinking of a song especially rare one and to find it on you tube this is a classic one by Whitney I always wanted the world to hear it... good post

  • One of those songs you can just really chill to. Whitney's vocals are soft, mellow and very angelic, it's magical, it's all so heavenly. Perfect:)

  • my my my ... wat a voice ... dancin on the smooth edge ...

  • Oh Lord! will she ever get that voice back ?

  • OMG!!! HER VOICE ON THIS SONG IS!! WOW.

  • Whitney voice is as smooth as the song title. I wonder if Whitney is hitting whistle notes in the background! It sounds like her voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what whistle notes? when

  • In the background harmonizing thats mostly all Whitney voice!

  • A classic R&B song from the Diva herself Whitney Houston...

  • She sounds like Denice Williams and Minnie Ripperton in this!

  • I like Whitney better when she sings naturally like this clip. Her voice is meant to be very high, and angelic like this clip!

  • I agree with you mbronersky! I haven't heard this song in years. It doesn't matter Whitney has gone through, she is still my favorite singer of all time. A voice of an angel. I'm glad she's getting her life in order. Just check our her most recent pictures. She looks great. Praying for you Whitney!!

  • Damn she sang the hell out of that song...I swear she can sing anything...I love the runs that she does...

  • She sure did!!! The runs are incredible! I wish she would make more music like this! It's amazing! :-D

  • whitney sounds pretty much like lani misalucha here...

  • Lani sounds like Whitney get it right!

  • I think I've just found a new favorite song.

  • i find no resemblance between the 2 songs. ur so stupid

  • I do! MC big time copied Nippy style. Honestly it sounds like Whitney could be doing some whistle notes in the background of this!

  • i get chills just listening to it

  • Listen to Whitney in background, her soprano so freaking high!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think "Can't Let Go" is Mariah's answer to "All the Man I Need".

  • your hella deaf this sounds nothing like mariah carey's cant let go.
