I'm pretty late but I've been using raw since 2009 and personally I think it's the best hair dye .... Right now I have only three bottles of dye ( True Blue, Bright Yellow, and Bright Betty ) and with those I've made Green & Purple
I'm a hair/makeup stylist and I've been having a problem with my purple hair dye, Ive been using Beyond the Zone and they recently changed the formula and now it washes out WAY faster and it turns a cranberry/orange color... after 3 washes.
Have you tried Special Effects? I've seen from others that it works great.
most dyes will not show up unless u have blonde hair. but Dye is best on virgin hair.

Splat hair dye is the best, it stays in for a good amount of time and they have a purple called lusty lavender and is a brighter purple then a dark black purple so yeah. Splat hair dye is really good I think you should try it they also have different colors like lucious rasberries, pink fetish, aqua rush, blue envy, multi color which contain a blue, red, and i think purple. They have other colors in Splat hair dye even temporary glow in the dark hair dye but it's temporary. Plus it's only $10 a
Manic panic fades too quickly. It turned my hair pink also. I use N'Rage Plum Purple it's a dark purple for about the first few days then it fades to a really vibrant purple. If you want any more advice or want to see what the color looks like send me a message.

I used manic panic ultra voilet with a little hot hot pink because it was a little too blue for my taste.. this was the manic panic in the jars-not the amplifide version.. anyway the color was AMAZING!!! a super duper bright purple, like amazingly in your face purple.. wich was exactly what i wanted.. but it washed out rather quickly.. the amplifide is supposed to last longer- thats why its a bit more expensive than the jars..
there's this new kind of dye at hot topic called electric purple. it has this stuff in it that makes the color more "vibrant". i haven't tried it yet but the cashier there says it looks awesome.

Ultra-violet has more blue tones. If you look on Manic Panic's website they have samples of how it will turn out. Beyond The Zone also has a good purple dye, purple passion
So I used the purple Rage hair dye and it first came out BLUE. I was extremely disapointed until i washed it out a few more times and it turned dark purple. it still isnt the vibrant flourescent purple that I want.
I used the manic panic ultra violet an it turned out blue, my hair is really dark an I bleached it for two hours an it came out an orangey brown color, so I put the dye on for 35 mins an it came out blue, an it fades really quick, I dyed my hair Sunday an it us now Tuesday an it's a really light blue color, IHATEIT!!!!!!

I've tried the older one, and didn't use it again. I decided to try the amplified one when I saw it at Hot Topic. Raw is much better. I actually have Raw Purple Punch in my hair right now. I've also used Colour Fiend, which I didn't mind.
The best brand I've used has been Punky Colour though. I used to use the Violet one, but where I used to buy it stopped selling it, so I've been using Raw until I can find where to get Punky Colour again.
I have used Manic Panic, N'Rage, Special FX, Splat and Pravana. The only ones I've liked and had good experience with is Pravana and Splat. Both are inexpensive and they last waaaay longer than the others on MY hair. I do bleach mine before also because otherwise it wouldn't show up

@Vaniterz6 the purple usually shows up on non bleached hair, the lighter the hair the better though, but I have done it when i had light brown hair and it stayed for a while! and it was ACTUAL purple! But if u have really dark hair it may not show up as well
That raw stuff doesn't just dye your hair. For me it dyed EVERYTHING. My headphones, my shirt, and my hands, and I even got to use leftovers for dyeing an entire shirt last year for halloween.
Maybe they fixed it, but as least just like it rubbed on, it eventually rubbed off with time and wipes.
demi permanent is a supposed to last longer than semi but is still not permanent. Though I've never seen a demi dye that didn't need an activator so that seems strange. The few times I've used Manic panic it has never lasted long for me . Have you ever tried punky color? Its available at ulta and the color last for a long time. or try this site haircrazy.info they have a lot of tips, reviews on diff brands and an awesome gallery if your looking for some inspiration

Manic Panic is more for people who want to dye their hair different colors a lot, since it is semi permanent and lasts for a shorter amount of time. Raw is more for long lasting color since it is demi permanent. I don't understand why Manic Panic makes an Amplified version...they should just make Demi-Permanent dye.

Use Special Effects Pimping Purple, or La Riche Directions, you gotta get them offline though. Directions is from the UK but you can get them off amazon, ect. Manic panic tends to bleed during showers and not set well.

Ive used manic panic ultra violet over medium brunette hair and it looked really good for about 4 days. I washed it once and it seemed to take all of the color out and I was even using color safe hair dye. I would suggest anything but it.
Additionally (didnt have room to type this) I did use special shampoo to keep the color in, I can't remember what it was and cant find it on a simple google search. Sorry.
A couple of years ago I dyed part of my hair hot pink and my cousin used the same color of manic panic as you did. The pink seemed to work a lot better and we ended up mixing some of the pink with the purple; it might have just been because my cousin's hair doesn't bleach well. Manic panic tended to last for about two months in my experience, and at that point, you would have to re-dye it. It does dye the scalp a bit. Good stuff though.
hey let me know um like what your methods are for keepin the color or like um how long it stays for u ....um i also heard that drying the colored hair with a blowdryer is not good or flat ironing ..but i do that anyway ......but idk if any of this is true . but what i do know is that dam manic panic ultr violet turns blue in my hair but purple indoors ..its wierd ..
@shibby1998 I do wash my hair with cold water, I let the dye sit in my hair for about 4 hours. The more you wash your hair, the quicker it fades, so I wash my hair about 4 or 5 times a week. I iron my hair, but it does make it fade quicker. I don't blow dry, but I hear that makes it fade quicker. I do, however, blow dry my hair when I'm putting in the dye because it makes it last longer.
Using these techniques, the dye lasts in my hair for about 3 - 4 weeks.

Well personally, I despise Manic panic because i have the same mentality as you, and as soon as my color starts fading I fix that shit ASAP and manic panic fades out of my hair within a day instead of the 5 week touch up i get some Raw.
my moms a hair dresser an iv dyed my hair a billion colors but manic panic makes a good color but it always faydes out into a grayish color faster than raw
if you wanna check it yourself you could just put the manic panic on a lil bit of you hair an see how it turns out first its kinda the only way to really kno i think
manic panics really good, i used it when i died mine red and it came out really good, kinda hayley willamish but yea it stayed well and didnt wash out.
I have dyed my hair with both , raw was AMAZING it stayed in my hair for so long without fading but it stained my skin really badly even when i tried so hard to not get it on my skin and manic panic was amazing for about two weeks or three weeks but when it faded it looked a greyish colour. But now raw kind of sucks because now it doesnt look so vibrant after a week but overall if your gonna dye your hair often i would go for manic panic, and i have tried purple for both of them :)
@DontLikeDontWatch yeah , when i look at pictures of me recently since i've dyed why hair will Raw (The "Improved" version) the purple in my hair doesnt look so vibrant and its pretty dull and it barely lasted 2 weeks D: But the old pictures of me when i dyed my hair with manic panic the purple in my hair is so vibrant. Manic panic is amazing and vibrant but the only catch is you have to dye your hair often or else it goes an ugly grey colour with a tint of purple, well thats what happens to me
i like raw except for when it fades and manic panic sux idk about amplified tho but it faids fast

I have always used raw. Manic Doesn't work on my hair. If you wash your hair before hand it should stay in easier.

Manic Panic fucking sucks.
I've tried the older one, and didn't use it again. I decided to try the amplified one when I saw it at Hot Topic. Raw is much better. I actually have Raw Purple Punch in my hair right now. I've also used Colour Fiend, which I didn't mind.

manic panics really good, i used it when i died mine red and it came out really good, kinda hayley willamish but yea it stayed well and didnt wash out.

I have dyed my hair with both , raw was AMAZING it stayed in my hair for so long without fading but it stained my skin really badly even when i tried so hard to not get it on my skin and manic panic was amazing for about two weeks or three weeks but when it faded it looked a greyish colour. But now raw kind of sucks because now it doesnt look so vibrant after a week but overall if your gonna dye your hair often i would go for manic panic, and i have tried purple for both of them :)

@DontLikeDontWatch yeah , when i look at pictures of me recently since i've dyed why hair will Raw (The "Improved" version) the purple in my hair doesnt look so vibrant and its pretty dull and it barely lasted 2 weeks D: But the old pictures of me when i dyed my hair with manic panic the purple in my hair is so vibrant. Manic panic is amazing and vibrant but the only catch is you have to dye your hair often or else it goes an ugly grey colour with a tint of purple, well thats what happens to me

my sister used manic panic.. she liked it.. use that. btw, make a vid without your glasses :D
