The worst thing to happen to foxes in recent yaers is the hunting ban, they are now being shot in there 1000s every year and many end up dieing slowly from gunshot wounds. I used to put up with foxes on my land and the local hunt used to kill 2 or 3 a year locally, now they cant be hunted we shoot them, so far this winter we have shot 32.
who ever think hunting is wrong think a little harder. i hunt myself legally, if law bans hunting then thousands and thousands of fax hound will have to be shot/put down. This is because they will never be able to be rehomed as they are pack animals the way they have alway been. Why ban hunting now ? even if you did ban hunting foxes will still have to be killed as they will over populate and not have enough food to sevive. when hounds get a fox it had instant death with know pain atall.
fox hunting with hounds keeps the fox population healthy. hounds will only be able to cull the older, weaker, or sick foxes while shooting, trapping, etc kills ALL types of foxes. and when hounds do account for the fox, it is a quick, instant death while other methods can cause injury and suffering. hunting with hounds even protects the pregnant ones because pregnant foxes put out less scent. not to mention the years of tradition and country culture behind it, the ban is just a shame.
DID YOU KNOW.... since fox hunting was banned, the population of foxes has gone DOWN!!!!! Mainly due to Shooting, trapping and other methods of killing foxes..... The problem is, they arent humane.... whereas hunting.... is. The stupid thing is, the bloody government didnt see that before they put a great F***ing ban in front of it!
I am in full support o f hunting and still loyally trail hunts with the SEH.
@b1e2a3whp hunting for food is fine, but fox hunting is for entertainment/sport at the expense of an animals suffering which is something different :|
To EmilyMegRowan: There's no need to be a bitch. I know about the ban implimented on fox hunting in the UK as well as opposition to the new laws.
But perhaps now you can turn your attention towards the British Armed Forces buying grizzly bear road kill in the North American wilderness in order to use for bearskin hats within the British Army. Yet another travesty and unkind act against Mother Nature.
"YogaNate79"... if that is your real name!!!!! Making hat out of ROADKILL (whcich was accidentaly killed) is called RECYCLING!!!!!! GO GREEN, MAKE HAT OF ROADKILL!
well, i wont pretend to be an expert because im not, and im not a farmer or anything but i do support hunting and i hunt regularly.
the original point of hunting was to control fox numbers because they are a pest to farmers, this has gradually become less neccassary as fox numbers are now kept down by people running them over etc but it has been kept going as a tradition (a thing we have very few of nowadays i think).
hunting creates a close community and countryside economy and to be honest.. its alot of fun. that sounds bad but its true, and i'll confess that the only reason i hunt is for the fun of galloping around the countryside, after all i have no farm or animals to protect.
also the fact is without hunting farmers will just shoot the foxes which is a far less efficient way as theyre not really trained professionals are they? so one bad shot in the leg will leave the fox dying of gangrene for the next 2 weeks (not that the farmer will really care about that). in the end i think this all comes down to your situation, whether you are part of that community or not, you cant be niether and your opinion of hunting will be influenced by whichever it is.

basically the government f***** up our lives by banning proper, good old hunting, so now we have to chase of piece of rag instead of a fox.
just a reminder that hunts intend to hunt within the law every time they go out.
it was insane, growing up hunting every saturday- then my childhood was ruined by the governemnt- boy did they f*** up....
the UK for you!!

The bears are dead anyway surely? If they are road kill? So I can't see anything wrong therefore with using their fur to make bearskin hats.

i dont get why you enjoy killing an animal for no reason...
its sick
i can understand enjoying galloping across the countryside, but if thats what you enjoy... then why kill an innocent fox??

What is anyone supposed to say about this ? there is nothing to say.
