Why do people assume she was trying to 'come back'? This was an 80's themed week on the today show and her manager asked her to do this. She was probably barely trying.

i love stacey q her record was one of my fav in the 80s and i now have it on my ipod and still enjoy it, this performance was not good at all but it isnt the worse out there
From Wikipedia - Stacey Q (Stacey Lynn Swain) was born in late Nov. 1958, so this video had her just shy of 50. May everyone look as good at 50 and still want to do what they did a quarter century ago. She studied ballet and considers herself more a dancer than a singer, thus the elaborate beginning to this video. She has done it all: working at Disneyland, riding an elephant in a circus, conversion to Buddhism, songwriter, tv acting and record producer. I think she is just terrific !!!
When hearing the original of this song the only thing I could think is that she doesn't have much of a voice. Now seeing this I have to say her voice is much different and she shouldn't be using a backtrack from the 80's. Her act at the beginning doesn't work. She can sing this song and not try to be something she is not. I know some of this was lipped, but not a completely bad voice in all honesty. I was expecting worse based on how the original 2 of hearts had not power vocal at all.
This is just awful. I just finished watching her video that she made back in the '80's of this song. She's way different, and sounds way better. Her performance in this video sucks. Some things should just be left where they belong...in the past.

Personally, what I saw in that clip was a mature woman, who has aged quite gracefully I might add, in the heat of the moment, remembering, and probably feeling EXACTLY how she felt 20 years ago, going with it, and thoroughly enjoying herself. Never particularly cared for the song, liked the SSQ stuff better, BUT I hope when I'm a little older, I will be able to channel my youthful energy in much the same manner, instead of being a bitter old jerk.
She actually looks great - if she was a grown up, like a hot Dr, lawyer, teacher etc. But trying to step back into a song and a character that was too cutesy and infantile even when she was a breathy 22 yld isn't nostalgic. It is a sad reminder that time marches on and it leaves baby talk pop songs tossed to the curb.

what do you expect, she was pushing 30 when the song first came out so naturally she's aged a bit 24 years later. of course by performing this she's saying to herself 'who am I kidding' but that's not the point, it's supposed to be a time warp, just enjoy it for what it is. Well said ladyvee! I actually had to put a little "disclaimer" on the vid so people would shut up about how she looked, and I've continued to reject negative comments that only have to do with her looks. The point of the video was so fans could enjoy her performance, and a lot of people completely overlooked that.

Why are people hating on Stacey Q? Knock it off. This song was hot and still is. She looks good too. She's definitely not the worse looking 50 year old woman I've ever seen. Susan Boyle anyone? And Stacey Q looks 1000x better. Before anyone puts up a rebuttal about who's more talented, I'm only talking about looks here. People expect everyone to be full of Botox that they forget that there are people who actually want to age naturally.

Well said ladyvee! I actually had to put a little "disclaimer" on the vid so people would shut up about how she looked, and I've continued to reject negative comments that only have to do with her looks. The point of the video was so fans could enjoy her performance, and a lot of people completely overlooked that.

I met her when she was on tour with The Jets and Jermain Stewart. Got to go back stage and take pics/hang out. She was sooo sweet,and a bit shy in person.

She never used to sing the song live in shows in the 1980s, it was always lipsynced to her record when performing it. I met her mom once when she performed at Studio One.
