The funny thing about this video, is there were some pretty neat ideas shown, some of which kinda/sorta made it to today. That credit card storage looks a lot like the flashdrives of today. The removable CD-Rom looked almost like a zip disk, pretty neat, especially when you think of what power computers had then. 286 CPUs - 40MB hard drives......
@locouk Hahahaha!!! :D Even though ,ost people don't use CDs and DVDs that much anymore because of hard drives, they better have a hard backup of their information on those disks because when (not if) their Hard Drives fail......
I remember seeing these things as a kid. 5K to 6K USD was the average price for these laptops. Imagine these were 1990 dollars adjust that for inflation and that is probably 8K to10K today.
hey that,s cool a cd in a caddy case, some wich also nintendo wanted for their never released snes cd rom addon.
i dit,nt knew that even coputers back in those day,s were advanced enough to be porteble, sometimes with a color lcd,internet/phone connection and more,it existed allready but it was to expensive and younge to reach the massive public till the mid 90,s
optical discs in protective cases... why the fuck haven't that become an industry standard ? I am so fricken sick of dvd backups of large tar files going corrupt because of some minor scratch.
@ufster81 i totaly agree they should of kept it i see it as the same thing as keeping the hard disk exposed no body would do that so why keep an optical disk exposed?
i'm watching this on a 7 inch netbook (asus 701) which has 100 times more computing power, weighs under a kilogram and costs a fifth of those machines.
Computer evolution at work. Great stuff and fun to watch!
I wish I could go back and trade my xp system that is now out of date for everything in that show room. I bet they'd do it. and I'd trade nearly anything for one of those mini floppy disks and a reader!!
Now we have the Macbook Air.
