  • ALLLL THE GAS...

  • Mind if I smoke?

  • why did the 747 have to dump fuel to land in tokyo? I dont know planes that well so anyone wanna explain?

  • @Ru55ianGrim according to the vid, the plane had to make an emergency landing which of course is unexpected. The plane has to lightened the load; otherwise, too much weight on the tires and landing gear may cause it to collapse.Since it is calculated the distance, fuel necessary and the weight of the aircraft upon landing, it is crucial to land with the limits of total aircraft weight. Doward pressure adds to it, too. If no emergency, chances are no fuel would have been dumped due to proper usage.

  • @KnightTemplari OOHHH okay thats explains it... thanks :)

  • It's a shame you can't do an air to air fuel transfer.

  • @Neutrinoghost you can in the military - every drop counts.

  • omg was it scary?

  • Yep, it's expensive. But choose:

    - Keep the fuel, and TRY to land

    - Dump the fuel, and save hundreds of lives.

  • @Brokkolesz well done genius

im sure no one else knew that

  • tab money down the drain but you are all right the weight is to much to land for a quick stop

  • what row were u sitting in

  • JAL

Go back to Narita Airport announcement

  • is this NWA or JAL?

  • Chemtrails! ;-)

  • Waste!

  • What a waste!

  • when they do a fuel dump dosent it like fall to the ground and fall on people

  • They do it over water and I heard that if they dump high enough it dissipates before it hits the ground.

  • Nope,

It is water, if it falls from 1000 ft (300m) it will be just raindrops or smaller..

  • @KYLEAKAFLYBOIK It is generally done over water or deserted ground areas.

  • the purpose why they dump fuel..it is because, they have to decrease the weight of the aircraft...

  • nah, i dont think that they did it to get lighter. when the aircraft take-off, it has the NECESSARY fuel, not to much, to get to its destination.

  • idiot. the plane had to make an emergancy landing. i.e. land before its destination airport.

  • HELLO!!?? Tokyo WAS their destination and they landed there!!! im not stupid like u!

  • i have a question why need to dump a fuel ???

  • When the aircraft lands it needs to be at the lowest possible weight so it can stop as quickly as possible. When you have a heavier load, it takes longer to stop the plane. The rule explained here is called momentum. You may have learned the concept in Science class. Plus, it allows for slower and more stable approach speeds.

  • repling to astoniz

The potential fire hazard. When an emergency abrevate's a flight, the excess fuel is ejected. The plane's weight and flight distance dictates the amount of fuel per flight, plus aux reserves. Lighter load, less fuel consumption.

  • aww look at that 747 pissing away thousands of dollars worth of fuel XD

  • a problem with the aircraft or a pessanger wo needs medicial help

  • if it would be a medical emergency, they would have not dumped the fuel. That would just be a waste^^

  • if they are too heavy to land of corse.

  • plane cant land with full tanks of fuel, would be way too heavy

  • what was wrong with the aircraft (because of the emergency landing)?

  • omg watching this hurts!!!! so expensive!!!

  • ya, painfull but true

  • haha

  • so that's what it looks like =D lol that's a JAL, right?

  • wow that is amazing first time i've actually seen it!5/5
