Im telling you guys .... only been playing wolves since Dec., but my record is 7-4-2. All my losses came before I knew what to do with the wolves, all my wins have been in a row. I prefer to run wolves in five man squads with a guard in a rhino, lots and lots of rhinos. Give the guards melta and one grey hunter melta and you should be set this is the core of my army. Run all your rhinos straight at them using their smoke to keep them alive. Force your opponent to destroy your rhinos then charge.
What about against the new blood angels army. I have played against a blood angels 500 pt army. The Sanguinor owned me. I used Logan Grimnar, 3 Terminator Wolf Guard, 5 Bloodclaws, and 1 Iron Priest. My buddy used The Sanguinor, 1 Death company Dreadnought, and 5 Death company. I cleaned the clock of the dreadnought with logan, but it destroyed all my bloodclaws, then i cleaned out the death company. However the sanguinor destroyed logan, my iron priest, and my 3 terms. Advice please
@Reichenfaust099 one thing about wolves I learned fast, their strength is their leaders and how many they can run. I have run Logan and he is a beast but waaaaaaay too many points. Try running two wolf lords or two rune priests instead. Oh and run them with 5 man grey hunter squads in rhinos.
@theoneandonlymelvin im also thinking of investing in loaded dice lol. I did some studies and some of the sites i looked at showed logan vs mephiston, and depending on the dice roll either of them won. I like using leaders though. I made the mistake of not upgrading my terms and claws, instead i used an iron priest. That was my mistake. Thanks for the advice. Really appreciate it.
depends how you like to play and whether you care much for fluff. I love fluff and kind of play pretty aggressively so i chose the space wolves. The blood angels only have the drop pod thing for them
@Krvaak both have great strengths and weaknesses. With space wolves, buying opts are ridiculous. With one sw pack you get ten figures, and they can be either guard, claws or hunters. And you have enough bitz left over to kit bash ridiculously. Leaders are also great. Logan allows u to use wolf guard(Can be used/upgraded to jump infantry artificer armour terminator, or just hyper powered squads) as troops. Blood angels have cool stuff and the sanguinar is a bitch. Research it and decide yourself.

@Redvexer didnt realise grey hunters the only troop choice u should use had ws 3 s3 when did that happen ? and now with the new codex they are easily the best marines in cc
Im going to be honest here...at first, I hated the Space Wolves. I thought they were barbaric, ugly, and I didnt like the fact that they dont wear helmets alot. When they were recently updated, I didnt pay much attention because I didnt care. But, after researching their background story and seeing the really nice models I now hold the Space Wolves as my favorite Space Marine chapter. Im getting some Wolf Guard terminators, a wolf pack and Wolf Priest Ulrik tommorow.
@Necronlord101 same with me dude. i thought they were ugly, dumb, and just not really space marines. then i realised they were so cool. i love how each of them is technicaly a hero in his own right, and the new kits make it so you can make each and every guy inique. i did the math and stuff the other day, and you can make more than 2000 different combos with the components you get just from a tactical and a space wolves set.

what i do is i take a crap load of pva glue and modelling snow and mix it up on a paper plate. then it should look kinda pasty. then take like a popsicle stick or something so you can spread it on the bases. it turns out good and it actually looks like snow and its not icey. hope that helped and sry if it was confussing.

you can paint any marine army any way you like. But whatever army u play with u have to declair to you opponent what your army is playing as. E.g Pink and purple marines playing As space wolves/ultramarines. But sometimes rules will stipulate that sometimes certain models must be shown to be diffrent e.g has diffrent rules.

It is not that long fangs are not good, they have a nice ability called "Fire Control" (which allows u to split thier fire between two targets). It is that they cost to much points, the pack leader himself is 36 pts.
But if u get the right heavy weapons (ie 2missle Launchers and 2 lascannons) then it makes it a lil worth it. But when they take a wound and your forced to choose between loosing the ability or loosing a heavy it makes the pack a lil hard to stomache the points.
This is a really nice Tactica you got going on here but please do not miss lead people. You can not shoot a Bolter and assualt at the same time, that is not what "true Grit" allows you to do. A Bolter is still a "Rapid Fire" weapon and as of the 5th edition rules you can not shoot a "Rapid Fire" weapon and assualt the same trun. All "True Grit" does for you is give you the extra attack in close combat for having 2 one handed close combat weapons at the cost of the extra attack on the charge.
nice tactics. i run an all grey hunter army. most squads are either bolters w/ melta and power fists or power weapons and meltas. I put my pack leaders in the oppisite squads to even out combat. personally, i think haveng gh's in combat is better. Especially against my friends. They are insanely hard to beat and have perfected their lists so much. it sucks really. but sure u dont get as many attacks, but youll get more hits, this leading to more wounds. The wolf leader has many attatcks, blood claws receive +2 attacks on the charge and HAVE to charge if within 6" and grey hunters true grit. i cant see why u think the templars r better than wolves. did i mention the ability to take 4 fenrisian wolves? adding 8 attatck at strength 4 is always a good thing. plus, it looks great! i doubt templars could top that.

well my friend has black templars and bought a librarian but then looked in his codex and it said they cant get librarians because of the hatred for mutants and heretics which they classify as psykers as. Unless my friend missed something.

I run a small, durable, 1500pt Space Wolf army that I got from an ex-player, I repainted them, added some new models, phased out some old ones, etc. I had to rebuild the army cause it was based around EoT Codex, I didnt have a copy and my GW store dont stock it :( so I rebuilt. Thx for this itll help :)
I really don't mean to sound like a smartass but I think it's in the section dealing with reserves. It's kind of like moving during movement, shooting, and then moving again during the assault phase- it's not in the rules but it's legal.
we cannot fire our bolter and charge into assault. we will count the bolter asa single handed ccw, but they do not become assault/pistol weapons. "True Gritted" grey hunters basically always get 2 attacks unless they fail the counter attack check when using a power fist.

yeah, grey hunters are basically the same, but function more like vets. blood claws or whatever are like normal marines but look more wolfy.

the Grey hunters should be the last squads to come in by drop pods. Your first turn drops should be Wolf Guard and dreads
