  • A REAL WOMAN AND TRUE SISTER. RIP

  • OMG these lyrics are AWESOME & Phyllis delivers in PERFECTION as always! HOW have I missed this one. It is my first time hearing it. Love, love, LOVE it! There is NO artist living or dead better. She is by far MY #1 artist. Forever a Fan for life. RIP

  • Mah JAM! I wore it OUT!

  • None of these so called singers out today.....AND I MEAN NONE OF THEM.....can touch this woman vocally! She is a true vocalist in every since of the word. Just pure, raw talent!!! These folks can't hold a candle to Ms. Hyman!! Not even me....and I'm a vocalist!!

  • WOW . . . . nuff said

  • I've never heard this song before, but I'm digging it!

  • Although dead in body, her spirit, soul and unapproachable music will endure beyond eternity.

  • @glo0505 yes she did she left a suicide note

  • I saw her live in london late 80s, bloody unbelievable, believe me this lady could really sing!

  • Had a Huge Crush on Phyllis Hyman. What a horrible and tragic loss to us all. Forever Rememberd.......

  • awwww r.i.p. i love her its sooo sad how she killed herself

  • @TheGangstabitch88 She actually was murdered. She did not kill herself!

  • @glo0505 Very interesting thought; however on what basis are you suggesting this? If you are into astrology, she had a Sagittarius Ascendant ''and'' moon. Such people rarely commit suicide. Who and why - the obvious questions. Why do you believe this?

  • She said come right or not at all. I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT.

  • why yall bringing religion into this...only god can judge her who are yall to point the finger are yall not sinners

  • she is a queen!

  • What an amazing deep and powerful voice she had. A sad loss. I read up on her and noted that she shared the same birthday as me! Happy upcoming birthday sista, hope you're resting in peace.

  • She committed suicide so we all know the penalty for that. So, resting in peace is unlikely. Unless, God has given her a pass, but she couldn't ask for forgiveness because she took her on life. Yes, beautiful voice and women as well, but SUICIDE is a wicked. So....

  • @2phillysangel of course, someone had to bring religion into something.

  • @2phillysangel How long do it take to ask for forgiveness how long did it take for her to die do you know ???????

  • @2phillysangel The last time I checked the Bible, the only One who can read the "heart" is God, & how Glad we ALL must be of that Fact! So your speculation is a pure waste of words, because you are in NO position to "Judge" A-n-y-o-n-e, their actions, nor their heart condition! Phyllis was Bi-polar. She had a physically induced mental illness. As my Paster says, some who "think" they'll go to heaven Won't, & the those You think won't, WILL! YOU nor Anyone is "qualfied" to Judge nor speculate!

  • She's amazing...commanding is right! This is my anthem at 30 years old...a staple!

  • I really think Phyllis hyman was not giving a fair shake in the music industry . I'm a die hard fan of her. I was wondering if anyone knew where u could get any of her concert on dvd or vhs . I been looking high and low.

  • This is a classic voice!

  • great re-mix by angelo morris.

  • Speak the truth PH. This is indeed the way you lived your life; on your own terms and left on your own terms. Yet, we miss you so much.

  • this is th song that says everything i wnna say to these men these days

  • Sometimes it take the passing of someone to touch lives that are so far out there I wish that every one that think about trying drugs would read her story and listen to her music

  • - I always felt like this song had a pre-neo-soul vibe to it

  • me too!

  • She found love in her music, thats why we find so much of her flavor in todays music . She will always live love like this never dies.

  • One of my favorites thanks for posting!

  • this is one of my favorite songs of all time, i will do a cover and post it.

  • She is talent that the world will never see again. She sang her songs with such passion. Why she could not find love is hard to believe.

  • I agree completely, Miss Hyman expressed such passion in her songs. I love her, so was saddened to read after her death, that the man she loved, who loved her in return pleaded with her to stop the drugs. He said it was impossible to get her out of the parties and that life. So she found love, but the love for " it " overpowered her life. That's why no one should even try it. And pot is the first step into that escape. Real sad. I miss her so much.

  • She is a strong woman! Got to love her lyrics!

  • This jams! Love her!

  • wow

  • My second Favorite song of hers...she was just a very amaxing, beautiful, talented, and strong woman. The music industry really did not appreciate her gift of expression through her music.

  • jazmine sullivan looks like her.

  • I agree with you

  • thats the same thing my duaghter told me

  • thats the same thing my daughter said 2 me

  • omg i looovvevee this song!!! fell in liove the first time i heard it..omg how can u not

    feel tht??

  • I just picked up this cd and let me tell you...it's pure FIRE!!! This sista is the real deal, a voice second to none.

  • What CD is this? I got to get it!

  • its on "forever with u"!!

  • She is the best vocalist ever. Control, versatility, beautiful to look at...whew!!! She is a bad sista!!!

  • OMG

    This woman can sing...

    This is a real artist...

Her voice was her own mastpiece...

I am in luv w/ that contralto of hers...

    Simply Hyman!

  • Amen to that.

  • ROOOOTS!!!

  • What a strong song and I just wished that she could lived her life like this song, maybe she'd still be here.If you don't understand her songs or message just hold on class is open just "LISTEN" you'll get it.She was the greatest, what range and tone she could carry any tune, lyrics she'd master. She was REAL not a studio control singer like Mary J. or the new girls on the block who can't hold a note or compare with this greatness.PHYLLIS leaves with pleasure, hope and love.

  • My mother loves Phillis. Now this is real music.

  • What a masterpiece.....it a shame that true talent does not get recognize. Her music will forever inspire me.

    RIP Ms.Phyllis Hyman

  • Keep living, keep living young ones, you'll find that what she sings about is real love for self and therefore for others. Sing this song girl. You are so very missed.

  • Whoever made a ignorant dumb ass comment about Phyllis Hyman is either young or just dumb. I'm glad I'm 35.

  • im 29 and i know the kids dont understand real grown fok music its something so great about it and its timeless long live her and her music that isnt heard enof of.

  • I'm 26 and think it's not about age. I like all types of music and know when someone sounds phoenomonal. And if others want to be rude its their lost. A lot of people even in my generation aren't taught the real art of music and I feel sorry for the ones that make ignorant comments-its their lost!!!

  • I'm with you. My mother loooooooves Phyllis but there are several of her songs my mother hasn't heard, and recently at 25 years old, *I* had the immense pleasure of introducing this song to *her.*

  • what ajoy to share with someone her music...peace

  • That was nvery nice of you.

  • Man, I'm 23. I'm SUPPOSED to like the music that's out now, but I just can't feel it. There's no talent involved. Now, THIS is what's real. R.I.P. Phyllis Hyman

  • what does being 35 have to do with anything??

  • What a great woman. Too bad she didn't realize how many fans she had. A life ended to short. RIP Great lady

  • She used her voice so wonderfully, i like 4:12, im like a kid at a candy store when i hear greats before i was born and its my first time hearing it, so good.

  • I like this, she is a great!! i like 2:46-2:57 is hot, man, i sometimes wish i was born when real musicians lived, im 26, but i only listen to the greats.

  • blah blah i don't really care what your saying, it is falling on deaf ears

  • who cares how old you are, your still acting like whiny baby..

  • @MrMusikRnb how low of you to stoop to that level and call someone else a faggot, smh..

  • @MrMusikRnb good point

  • @MrMusikRnb real hip hop artists / producers sample this shit and appreciate it for the amazing music it is before ever chopping it...sky zoo's "dear whoever" is a great song that illmind sampled a Phyllis Hyman from. Real recognize real.

  • something wrong with you, since you don't like real music what do you listen to?

  • are u stupid or are u stupid.

Phyllis is by far THE best singer of all times.

U got Phyllis twisted with the Barney and Friends soundtrack you listen to.

    DAMN FOOL

  • she is so beauiful. love all her songs

  • We lost so much....... she's was sooo velvet >> Miss you dearly

  • She has so much to give... Her voice was amazing. The best in interconnecting her feelings with the song. I can't understand what can troble individuals with so much to live about in their music?

  • I've been looking for this AMAZING song for a VERY long time, thank you so much!

  • I love this... deep... reminds me of Mary J. Blige now.. the realness of content in lyrics.

    x

  • You're right, there is something there that you can hear now in Mary's stuff, and also in Jill Scott's. It sounds *especially* similar to the sort of track Jill would lay down, which is not all that surprising considering she's an obvious influence on them. And actually, that kickin jazz organ underneath has me flashing back to D'Angelo's "Brown Sugar," as well. It's crazy how ahead of its time the sound was on this arrangement. Would be great to hear Jill cover it. Deserves to be heard more.

  • just amazing i mean come on now this is i lost words
