OMG these lyrics are AWESOME & Phyllis delivers in PERFECTION as always! HOW have I missed this one. It is my first time hearing it. Love, love, LOVE it! There is NO artist living or dead better. She is by far MY #1 artist. Forever a Fan for life. RIP
None of these so called singers out today.....AND I MEAN NONE OF THEM.....can touch this woman vocally! She is a true vocalist in every since of the word. Just pure, raw talent!!! These folks can't hold a candle to Ms. Hyman!! Not even me....and I'm a vocalist!!
@glo0505 Very interesting thought; however on what basis are you suggesting this? If you are into astrology, she had a Sagittarius Ascendant ''and'' moon. Such people rarely commit suicide. Who and why - the obvious questions. Why do you believe this?
What an amazing deep and powerful voice she had. A sad loss. I read up on her and noted that she shared the same birthday as me! Happy upcoming birthday sista, hope you're resting in peace.
She committed suicide so we all know the penalty for that. So, resting in peace is unlikely. Unless, God has given her a pass, but she couldn't ask for forgiveness because she took her on life. Yes, beautiful voice and women as well, but SUICIDE is a wicked. So....
@2phillysangel The last time I checked the Bible, the only One who can read the "heart" is God, & how Glad we ALL must be of that Fact! So your speculation is a pure waste of words, because you are in NO position to "Judge" A-n-y-o-n-e, their actions, nor their heart condition! Phyllis was Bi-polar. She had a physically induced mental illness. As my Paster says, some who "think" they'll go to heaven Won't, & the those You think won't, WILL! YOU nor Anyone is "qualfied" to Judge nor speculate!
I really think Phyllis hyman was not giving a fair shake in the music industry . I'm a die hard fan of her. I was wondering if anyone knew where u could get any of her concert on dvd or vhs . I been looking high and low.
Sometimes it take the passing of someone to touch lives that are so far out there I wish that every one that think about trying drugs would read her story and listen to her music
I agree completely, Miss Hyman expressed such passion in her songs. I love her, so was saddened to read after her death, that the man she loved, who loved her in return pleaded with her to stop the drugs. He said it was impossible to get her out of the parties and that life. So she found love, but the love for " it " overpowered her life. That's why no one should even try it. And pot is the first step into that escape. Real sad. I miss her so much.
My second Favorite song of hers...she was just a very amaxing, beautiful, talented, and strong woman. The music industry really did not appreciate her gift of expression through her music.
What a strong song and I just wished that she could lived her life like this song, maybe she'd still be here.If you don't understand her songs or message just hold on class is open just "LISTEN" you'll get it.She was the greatest, what range and tone she could carry any tune, lyrics she'd master. She was REAL not a studio control singer like Mary J. or the new girls on the block who can't hold a note or compare with this greatness.PHYLLIS leaves with pleasure, hope and love.
Keep living, keep living young ones, you'll find that what she sings about is real love for self and therefore for others. Sing this song girl. You are so very missed.
im 29 and i know the kids dont understand real grown fok music its something so great about it and its timeless long live her and her music that isnt heard enof of.
I'm 26 and think it's not about age. I like all types of music and know when someone sounds phoenomonal. And if others want to be rude its their lost. A lot of people even in my generation aren't taught the real art of music and I feel sorry for the ones that make ignorant comments-its their lost!!!
I'm with you. My mother loooooooves Phyllis but there are several of her songs my mother hasn't heard, and recently at 25 years old, *I* had the immense pleasure of introducing this song to *her.*
Man, I'm 23. I'm SUPPOSED to like the music that's out now, but I just can't feel it. There's no talent involved. Now, THIS is what's real. R.I.P. Phyllis Hyman
She used her voice so wonderfully, i like 4:12, im like a kid at a candy store when i hear greats before i was born and its my first time hearing it, so good.
I like this, she is a great!! i like 2:46-2:57 is hot, man, i sometimes wish i was born when real musicians lived, im 26, but i only listen to the greats.
what are you talkin about "fagget" singers...... she was a woman with so much to express ..... evidently FAGGET singers are those stupid rappers you listen to .... now thats whats really faggety !!!! what a dumbass

@MrMusikRnb real hip hop artists / producers sample this shit and appreciate it for the amazing music it is before ever chopping it...sky zoo's "dear whoever" is a great song that illmind sampled a Phyllis Hyman from. Real recognize real.
She has so much to give... Her voice was amazing. The best in interconnecting her feelings with the song. I can't understand what can troble individuals with so much to live about in their music?
You're right, there is something there that you can hear now in Mary's stuff, and also in Jill Scott's. It sounds *especially* similar to the sort of track Jill would lay down, which is not all that surprising considering she's an obvious influence on them. And actually, that kickin jazz organ underneath has me flashing back to D'Angelo's "Brown Sugar," as well. It's crazy how ahead of its time the sound was on this arrangement. Would be great to hear Jill cover it. Deserves to be heard more.
