@twilightrealist1 Hi! Thank you for your nice comments. I started using Painter when it was being made by Procreate, so I started learning with version 7. I've been updgrading since then, now I use 12. Painter 10 is actually a very good version, I suggest perhaps checking tutorials, but like you, I learned to use the program just by myself, trial and error and emulating other artists' styles. My suggestion is you stick with one brush and master it, usually the Oil brushes are best. Good luck!
man I learned more watching this video than in 2 years trying to get something nice on a piece of paper :O (best I can get is a cheap copy of simpsons T_T) THX
can you tell me what program you use to take the video and making it faster? I use camstudio and virtual dub and I don't know how to compress the vid in virtual dub and it takes hours for saving =/
Would if be possible when ever you have the time of course to make a video of you drawing and coloring one of your pictures in real time where you list exactly what your doing and how your doing it :)
If I ever did that, the video would be one of the longest because I can't really have control of the time I take to draw. I will still consider the option, of course it wouldn't be anything impressive.
@LaraYokoshima Really awesome tutorial! That's beautiful. You should do a tutorial on how to color tough clothes like jeans, i'm having trouble with some fabrics =(
My Round Camelhair is modified to leave smoother effects. Painter gives you lots of options, so you can try changing the settings until you get the desired effects :)
What settings are your Round Camelhair Oil brush? I try to set mine to obtain the same opacity change based on pressure, but it never turns out quite that smooth.
Usually it's the resaturation and bleed that gives the brush it's smooth properties, as well as the opacity. Try setting it to 80% opacity, 40% resat and 20% bleed.
Yeah, I would recommend so. The Intuos3 has more pressure points than a bamboo or graphire, thus giving you more precision. A bamboo could also work, but if you plan on working on manga or professional illustrations, an Intuos3 is your best choice when you cannot afford a Cintiq (like me ;_;).
Sry to ask something soo nooby, but how did you get to know about cell shading and screen toning? I have no clue where i can find out about stuff like that... :[
Where have you been searching? I believe the books "How to draw manga" have a lot of tips nowadays. I just had to learn for myself by mimicking and practicing.
Yeah, thanks i found ur video on screen toning, and i google'd a tutorial for Cell Shading. ^_^ ohh yeah, i was wondering if there is a reason to doing Inking in ComicWorks?... is it better or something because I THINK you can use photoshop to ink you drawings too
Well, I THINK you can ink in whatever program you find useful. Photoshop though doesn't have the same stylus sensitivity as Comicworks, especially in b/w bitmap mode. Even MangaStudio is much better than PS to ink. Corel Painter is also a better program than PS if you ask me. But it all depends on which one YOU find more comfortable with.
Yeah, i seen ComicWorks and it look fairly simple to use, but i just wonder how you got this good at using these programs... If you have any helpful Websites that has tutorials on it can u plz send them to me in a PM, and i really appreciate your help :]
I'm sorry, but like I said, I had to learn for myself since I didn't find any tutorials or anything like that; it was simple practice. Just "play" with the features until you learn, it takes time, but it's better that way since you create your own techniques.

easterbunnyx3 1 year ago
@easterbunnyx3 In video effects section there is a "speed up/double" effect. You can add as many as you want to make it faster.

I wouldn't say it's hard to use... it's a bit hard to learn, but if you practice constantly there should be no problem.

So would you say that the Wacom Intuos3 is recommended for manga artist 'cause I do plan on getting a tablet soon =]

Thanks. I've been saving money up for a Bamboo, but now I know which one to get :] You're not the only one who can't afford one of those >~>''

nice work! is corel painter beter then photoshop when it comes to painting??
johnbananawarrior 2 years ago
Well, for me it is :)
It's got more brush effects than Photoshop. Photoshop is good for other stuff, like celshading or screen toning.

well done, i need a wacom pad soo bad, and would you recomend corel or no?
Donttouchmynewbies 3 years ago
I totally recommend Corel Painter only. For further image edition my only best choice is Adobe Photoshop.
LaraYokoshima 3 years ago
not essential tho. corel painter x is 100 times better. its what i use
Newtellla 3 years ago
Of course it all depends of the person, but to me Painter only works for painting, not for image/color edition in a more technical level.

your awesome.
