i thought ninjas were moreso like the poor warrior class. like farmers and stuff that trained with sort of more everyday tools. to be able to protect their families and stuff from raiders. but this then lead to more stealth based combat since they weren't trained like real warriors... so, not that they didn't perform assassinations, but i just don't think that was their only job.
