People who like to talk shit about this solo and how he shreds here and there need to realize....this is just his solo section from the show. That's what you do. That's what it's for. Just playing what ever you want, and showing some skills. Duh!
Comparing Steve Vai to Dime is insulting. Dime could start a 200 yard wide pit with just the intro to "A NEW LEVEL". Dime = pure talent. He wasn't book taught at a "learn to jackoff and play at the same time" university of shred. Pure Texas blues rubbed off on Dime. You can hear blues licks all over the place in Pantera tunes. Go listen to any Vai, then listen to the solo in "The Sleep". Now who's the real talent? A good player has feel. Until you learn that, you know nothing. Vai=SHIT Jems suck
@everybodydancenow987 ok you are just an ass that knows nothing about music or instruments or probably anything, that is an assinine statement you made. i dont usually respond to pure ignorance and stupidity nut i couldnt ignore your comment, especially when your trying to say steve vai plays with no feeling because even if you srent into his music that is undenyable, all the guy does is FEEL the music, i mean have you ever heard a more unique guitarist than steve? yeah, hendricks and eddie

This is wonderful! Massive Steve Vai fan here. Listen...I know times change and people develop and evolve but, to me, this is Steve at his peak. I'm finding it much harder to love his music these days...it's just not the same anymore.
@rallyivan1234 i agree, he wrote their biggest hits. I think the only solo he didn't do on that Whitesnake album was "Here I Go Again" which was recorder by Adrian Vanderberg. I could be wrong though.
@rallyivan1234 steve vai is a lot better that good. plus whitesnake was shitty 100% of the time that steve vai wasn't with them. why would he be playing for the love of god if they were good? exactly.
Oooo! I'm looking forward to the DVD. Vai, Vandenberg, and Aldridge. Should be lots of wanking! ( I'm not being sarcastic.) Hope all the solos are left in.
And you, being a guitar god and all, obviously know shit about guitars and talent. It's called showmanship, douche bag. Putting out a show while you're at it never hurt the music.
Utter rubbish - a soulless wankhon that real musicians just laugh at. Ahahahha.....yeah...like anyone remembers this insipid shit after hearing it. Pointless!
I prefer THIS rock vai. he's great and all but I like this style better, now he's too much new age or something. I like his style now too, but I prefer this
@RONDOC68 actually he came out with passion and warfare which has for the love of god either before or during he was with whitesnake so he plays it in all his solos
@vaijones2002 Dude.. do you play guitar at all?? If you did.. you wouldn't say that. Dimebag was a great guitarist.. but comparing him to VAI?? That's just ridiculous.
@doobiez2 i think we shouldn't compare musicians , i mean , of course some are better players or writers or w/e but music is art, not a sport. Not like sport the point is not to win or its not a competition , its a form of expression , so i wouldn't compare them... but maybe thats just me.

I remember seeing Whitesnake at around this time with Steve Vai and Adrian Vandenberg. At one point in the concert a twirling mirrored guitar was lowered to Steve Vai and he played his song "For The Love of God" (which he played in this video). It was magical!!!
@chemajmcollado ...I agree that Uli Roth is AWESOME! I got to see Uli Roth play with Michael Schenker at a small club some years back. It was UNBELIEVABLE! I wish I would have seen Steve Vai with Frank Zappa. I did get to see him with Whitesnake and at the very first G3 show in Concord, CA in 1996 with Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd with Mike Keneally on keyboards and guitar as well as Neal Schon appearing as a guest.
I saw this tour when I was 16 and his solo changed my life. Seen him many times since but will always remember him walking up to that mirror guitar and going into For The Love Of God.
