I did watch this girls video. I would have to say she did not really even make an attempt at defining what she was trying to disprove much less disprove anything.
The "Tolstoy Principle" is a variation on a quote from Anna Karenina: "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
Substitute, families for animals and happy for domesticable.
I would sugg. reading GG&S by J.D., it is a very interesting book.
You watched her video twice? In Detail? Gasp!! Why don't you walk away from you computer and read a book, man. Start with Anna Karenina. Get back to us when you mussle through the first sentence.
i also dont understand what she is going on about, there is no need to proove science wrong, science has its purpose...but i hate people who think that life is science...i also don't understand why people think that spirituality and science are opposites...they have nothing to do with each other.
It's not something that's well known. There were some experiment were scientists tried to follow and track some subatomic particles. The traced their movements w/o watching and then when they WERE looking, the particles did NOT behave at all like they were expected to. This is where the principle comes in. Now, what exactly this is trying to SUGGEST, is a bit beyond me.
Message me if you want to know more or find someone who does! Please! Kthnx buh bai! ^_^
In referenced video, LG attributes "Tolstoy Principle" to Jared Diamond AND she is reading his "Guns Germs, and Steel". Chapter 9 (p 157) cites Tolstoy's "happy families" take from "Anna Karenina" which LG elevates to a principle. Diamond and LG apparently are more into old media than baffled viewers.
Maybe you should look up this "Tolstoy Principle (from Jared Diamond's great book... Guns, Germs, and Steel)", she says where it comes from in her description
Yes, it's true they were meant to combine her geekiness with her cutesy humour. But she does bring up some interesting topics that can be discussed more indepth.
What are you talking about? The cute girl is more educational than most teen vloggers on here. Are you not watching her videos? Are you just judging her to be a cunt? Because you are succeeding.
All I learned from his video is that he doesn't know what the hell the thing is.
yes, because shes seriously trying to disprove these theories. Its all done in a semi ignorant "cuteness". Perhaps you should take a philosophical or logical approach to it yourself.
Pages 157 and 175 of Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies, to be precise. (See http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0393317552/ref=sib_dp_pt/002-2769767-2143258#reader-link and click on the Index, then scroll through.)

1) Those PSW videos are totally meant as a joke. If she was actually proving science wrong, she just might have a Nobel prize.
2) What she talks about IS discussed in that Jared Diamond book; the theory and the book is discussed in "Don't Know Much About Mythology," as well.

I couldn't really find anything online about the principle either. Looks like you might have to research the old fashioned way. ;)

You should try to stop reading from a script. Besides that, nice video.
