  • at what level to riders start to make money or at least cover all costs? Expert? What is an average amateur racer spending a year on racing, parts, transpo ect.

  • Very few riders cover their costs or make any money. You would have to be at the top level like AMA, WBSK, Canadian National level to actually make any money. Local racers sometimes cover their costs but that does not happen all that often. You may win $1k - $4k if you are very good in a weekend just to spend it on tires, fuel, entry fees, repairs etc. Racing at the amateur or expert level here in Calgary will cost from $3,000 to $15,000 per year not including the bike. Race for fun

  • Results just in - I finished 9th. A couple riders I thought were in the Expert class were actually Amateurs so that puts me another 2 places down. 9th is good, I can work on that.
