Dah! Do you think they need a larger storm water storage tank for the in-fluent to the waste water treatment plant? No, Its better to restrict the flow the to the plant. Better yet, leave it like it is. It will created more jobs when the basements flood and people file law suits. We'll build this road twice, Yeah!! Hamilton Sucks! and stinks for good reason!
Nice footage! I'm a weather junkie. I will never forget that day and the Valentines Day 2007 snowstorm! I call BS on the amount of rain they say we had. 23mm thats just above 2cm and we get that easily in an average fall storm. Thunderstorms usually give 50-100mm. This was waaay more then that at least 150mm I'm banking on.
Out basement got flooded as well, the water was comming up through the floor drains and out of the toilet in the basement. It wouldn't be so bad, but it was sewer water. We've had about $30 000 in flood damage, so now we get to redo our entire basement at the expense of our insurance company :) It's not all bad :P
it was insane the traffic that built up cus of this too... they closed it JUST as we were heading out to the reserve (smoke run of course) so that was fine and good but on our way back we didnt realize HOW closed the road would be.... so it was still closed on our way back and it took us an hour to get from the redhill to centennial on mud.... BRUtal
I live in Stoney Creek and we had about 14" of water in our basement. Just the contents alone have amounted to about $15 000 damage, and the estimated for cleanup, restoration and repair to the house are probably going to top out at close to another $10 000. And my house wasn't as bad as some! Others had 5 feet of mixed storm drain overflow and raw sewage. The water was coming up from my basement drain pipe like a fountain for almost an hour.
this is why.... the redhill was originally supose to be built like burlington street, raised up so that they wouldn't have to redirect the red hill creek and have THIS FREAKING FLOOD!
we were on the red hill when it was flooding..had to back up & find the king st exit..couldnt see a bloody thing in the rear window...pretty scary. Makes you wonder if they screwed up while building the new Hyway?
My family got out of this pretty unscathed, probably because we live in the Stoney Creek Mountain area, but I was still hugely surprised by this. When the storm was hitting and the power was still out, I didn't think it would amount to flooding. I was surprised when the power came back on and I saw the news last night.
Worst thing I have ever seen happen in Hamilton. I was walking along the bridge of Queenston Road, and cars are there turning into the closed ramps and slowly backs up while making a weird frustrated face. The Highway has been re opened at least. =]
i seen this, i was like o my gosh

Thanks to everyone! The response to this video has been great and I think it shows the source of the water..............
