I'm guessing that putting the penny in between the wires is kind of like winding copper around a metal to create an electromagnet or voice coil. Here the tinfoil is the speaker cone, the penny and jack wires are the voice coil, there is no spider to aid in moving the tin foil and no magnet to attract and repel the electromagnet witch is why it may not work. If you have a deep sort of bowl, fit a magnet use paper instead of tin foil and a use conductive metal it may work but i can't guarantee.
First of all the Jack was supposed to come from an old headset meaning you weren't supposed to buy one for ten dollars. Second, HOUSHOLDHACKER TROLLED SO GET OVER IT!
You have to twist the wires to complete the circuit, as you can see in the video that he did not twist the wires. Kind of bullshit that they only tried once.
all i can say is. you sir. are a retard. ive actually done it myself just to check. it REALLY doesnt work. listening to this video explains why. just watch it. Twisting actually has NOTHING to do with an electrical circuit. nothing. at all. just makes it so it makes contact better. if it is even slightly touching it would make contact. it just doesnt work. at all.
@MasterTweak Aluminum and copper are almost the worst conductors to use in something like this, then if you use plastic tape (plastic is not really conductive) it only makes it worse.
It's not rocket science but HouseHold hacker made people spend money and time only to be disappointed, so something like this was in order...
@Neonspinnazz30 Pennies are made out of Zinc now. If it was made of copper, it likely isn't a shiny one, unless they payed much more for an old penny that was preserved.
It was a fan request video. They needed to test this one, even though they knew it was fake.

... you can get a 1/8" jack for $0.01
videobserver22 2 months ago
He did it wrong! One wire goes above the penny, and the other goes below
roberij05 3 months ago
@roberij05 either way it still won't work. that's not how speakers work.

did you hear it? Gotta listen like me!

also you'd be stupid to pay $10 for an audio jack, just go buy a $.50 pair of headphones and cut the wire.

I wonder if using an all copper penny would differ from using the newer zinc core ones

Alonsocesar90 1 year ago
@fitzgerald95971 No, that'll complete the circuit. They're supposed to be touching only the penny...

@FoxShot01 Interesting...I don't think Zinc is that conductive either though...
Neonspinnazz30 1 year ago
@Neonspinnazz30 I don't know how conductive it is, I'm just pointing out it isn't copper.

@FoxShot01 Me neither...I didn't know that new pennies aren't copper...

maybe you shouldn't of threw those penny's on the floor, it was probably bad luck even thou this 'speakers' are unlikely to work
