Rather was the man, I watched him my whole life. Now I can't watch CBS anymore, they changed everything. over 20 years to see CBS news tank and katie destroy enerything. I think russ mitchell should have gotten the nod.

To be completely frank, after Dan, Peter and Tom I don't see the big bruhaha over anchors these days. They just seem like newsreaders, few seem to get their teeth cut doing actual journalism like the old guard.

Not to mention most tv news is bad quality now.

I watched Dan Rather since I was little on The CBS Evening News through so many events the 2 unforgetable were The JFK Jr. crash and 9/11. Dan Rather covered those stories and every story of my time better than any other journlist. Katie Couric just couldn't cut it. She should just do 60 Minutes. She's better on that show. Every journlist working today owe a debt to Dan Rather.

This was a year ago I made that comment but I have seen Katie for a lot of 2009 and I think she is getting better every night. I guess my harsh comments helped. But I still stand by that every news anchor today owes a debt to Dan Rather and Walter Cronkite.

Fuckin' a man. This wasn't just CBS Evening News' theme, this was Dan Rather's theme. I kinda don't mind them changing it since his "retirement".

This program was a part of my childhood. I'd watch it every night at 6 while eating dinner. It was a habit of me and my family.
