  • I think those cell can by division turn into cancer and grow effectively fast . Eat some tumor folks : D I think I am going to turn vegan when the time comes.

  • :o!

so, all that "nutricious soup" is not going to affect the environment at a larger scale production?

  • @shreddernuo Sorry, dudepal187 makes a more compelling argument.

  • omg this is pretty cool

  • For science. :D

  • Outlaw factory farming NOW! Outlaw breeding animals for food NOW!

    Invitro meat all the way!

  • @shreddernuo A lot of pseudoscience and misinformation exists, but thats not science. Vaccines save lives and have no correlation to any negative health effects, the mercury is a preservative and more of it exists in fish. Cancer is a problem, but most forms can be prevented by diet and lifestyle choices. It can also be stopped fairly easily if detected early on. This was all found with scientific research.

We do need to be very careful. Fears and wrong ideas are what sets humanity backwards.

  • @shreddernuo I really do understand your view on science, I was there a couple years ago. I bought into ideas of vaccines causing autism (total BS), capitalism making everyone greedy (arrogant assumption), and looked to pseudoscientific as well as idealistic solutions to it all. Its a bunch of crap in the end and I learned that by taking a hard look at the facts, reality.

If we stopped scientific and technological progress, every problem we face today would very quickly destroy us.

  • @shreddernuo Without science, those elders you talked to most likely would have died before they had a chance to tell you stories. ADHD is a real disorder. I am no expert on diagnosing it, however, and it may be abused, but the truth of that can be discovered with SCIENCE. Not anecdotes that make everything look evil. Try researching a bit, the internet is a fantastic source if you know how to use it. If you really think science does no good, then your idea of truth is backwards and destructive.

  • @shreddernuo You're really underestimating humanity. Governments are made of people who have fears, desires, insecurities, hopes, and love just like you. To write them off as greedy and cruel is arrogant. You're not some virtuous saint being oppressed by tyrants, hemp oil is not a miracle cure, and you have serious problems if thats what you think of old people. Science, trade, and ingenuity gave and continues to give you more free time and a better quality life. So what makes science so wrong?

  • @shreddernuo Is that why the average life-expectancy for the world has gone nothing but up during your and your grandparents entire lifetime? It was because of vaccines and medicine that we were able to overcome things like small pox without having a huge setback like we did with the plague. Science, technology, and medicine allows you to write your comment, allows you to have the knowledge this video offers, and has made life better for everyone. Or would you rather return to the dark ages?

  • Foul!!! No!! I repeat No!! man is more efficient than GOD!!! what GOD has created for man's consumption ie "Clean animals" is complete and perfect for that purpose to his physical benifit. We don't start haveing problems with GOD's perfect system for mans nurishment, till men start messin with it beliveing they can make it better. Cows dont eat corn they eat grass nor do they eat other cows(MAD COW disease) thats mans doing

  • @rbghomes I think if god really did exist, he would not approve of cruel factory farming practises. But hey, in reality the bible is full of BS and corporate greed is the only truly omnipotent prescence in our world. If we can steer that shit into causing overall less pain and suffering... we are onto a good thing :)

  • @S3b5Tube have you ever read the entire Bible?

IF so have you reserched archelogical data from time periods mentioned in the Bible to see if there is corresponding affirmation?

Can any man explain and duplicate the formation of bones in a womans womb?

Or if evolution is the cause of men's current state why did it stop? how come we cant go to the ape exhibit @ the zoo & view ape's declaring " I'm man now, let me out " ??????

  • @rbghomes There is so much wrong with what you're saying that I don't know where to begin. Evolution has not stopped for humans, or any species, and we did not evolve directly from Chimps. We evolved from a common ancestor and because of different selection pressures, we ended up with about 14 different species of the genus "homo" as well as countless other primates. Please learn about evolution before you say things that have nothing to do with the hard work and research done by scientists.

  • @rbghomes Anyway, this idea of test-tube meat is revolutionary. Once the price of growing meat like this drops in the next decade or so it will make living standards go up for everyone. That means a significant portion of the 1 billion starving people in the world will be fed and be on their away to successful and comfortable lives. The meat won't have disease and can be engineered to be very healthy. This is a step toward sustainable living for all. But why would God want that?

  • @shreddernuo

I agree. I'll stick with organic foods.

  • It is a shame people just won't go vegan. Meat is, quite simply, unhealthy. This method is, quite simply, inapplicable.

Educate the public about how unhealthy animal products are. How environmentally damaging they are. How cruel the industry is to the animals used for food sources. And how there really is no way to have sanitary, sustainable animal farming.

Feed the world with the crops used to feed livestock. Conserve our water. Stop trying to appease the ignorant by pocketing their cash.

  • @dIIlIIb And how is meat unhealthy? I can agree with you on two points, one will be that industrial farming does pollute and two we need to conserve water. Now in Vitro meat could be used for both undeveloped and developed countries for a more cleaner environment however more research still needs to be done. Now I cannot agree with you to the point this not applicable since this is new and many more years of research and development still needs to done to make this perfect.

  • @zero13o We don't have "many years". In 40 years, we will have absolutely no edible fish left in the ocean - and this imbalanced ecosystem means all marine life is in jeopardy. Yes, animal agriculture (and blind consumerism) is responsible for this.

For information about how animal products are unhealthy to the human body, read: The China Study - This is merely how we process the animal products. Now, consider the fact that meat is treated with carbon monoxide and how dairy contains casein.

  • @dIIlIIb tell u what ,tel lsomeone who gives a shit ,in the mean time u and ya pathetic veggie dickheads can wind ya fucking necks in and kekep ya opinions to uselfs

  • As a vegetarian, I love this idea. Most vegetarians won't stop being vegetarians, but for those who eat meat and can't live without it I see this as a way of meeting their need without causing death. Not to mention cultured meat seems healthier than non-cultured, because you can prevent pathogens from contaminating it and causing disease.

  • Awwww, they didn't show when the people ate those cell chunks.. I wonder why.. *bl.. bl.. barf*

  • if you're disgusted or hesitant,

    think of it this way...

either you go with the conventional way which involves killing lots of still-conscious animals, using tons of water, crops, chemicals and stuff and then producing tons of waste (we don't eat their bones, bones, fur, feathers, crap, piss, blood...) -- either you go with that, which is disgusting, or you go with totally artificial stuff that just might taste a bit different or whatever other eerie stuff. i definitely prefer in vitro.

  • @kiiroichan

And just like many "scientific developments"...we are all excited about it now, thinking it will fix the world....but long into the future, we'll be sorry about this.

  • @Rao665

that's an extremely general statement. you could just die, and you won't be sorry or anything. obviously everything has its price and trade-offs.

  • @kiiroichan

kind of odd...your worried about fake meat while the eastern coast of Japan just got hit big time. either you dont give a fuck, or your some fuck ass anime fan. think you better worry about things other than fake meat.

  • i'm not going to feed into this string of trolling anymore. you went out of your way to watch this vid, and start trolling me in the first place. end of discussion.

  • @kiiroichan

trolling? Your sitting here worrying about fake meat. that we don't even know how our bodies respond to. And again, as with every new technological development, we look at it in good terms and assume it will be happy and beautifull for years to come. years later we regret some of it. of course its general. its a damn fact.

  • @kiiroichan There's another way: Vegetarianism. :) And from my experience, the bones, fur, feathers and blood ARE used. Bones are used in bone chinca. Feathers in pillow cases etc. Fur for clothing. Crap is used as land fertiliser. Blood is used for black pudding (aka blood sausage). A lot of this stuff ends up in pet food.

  • I think the main problem is getting the general population to be interested in eating it. Unfortunately, up until this point, the relationship between technology and food has not been for the benefit of the consumer. I always thought there was a lot of opportunity in taking advantage of this. For instance, if the industry wants to make people lighten up to GM food, why not produce marketable products? Someone could engineer a strawberry to be sweeter, or make it the size of a watermelon.

  • This technology has great potential, and doesn't have to be limited to meat. We could supplement virtually all food production this way, but it has to be cost effective.

  • animals do NOT move around on the factory farm

  • @smedheat Not much, but the cells themselves are moving constantly. Even just standing up conditions tissue, and just the circulatory system probably has an impact on the texture.

  • @smedheat they still wiggle around

  • The thing about anti-vegetarians who claim they "care" for animals is that they are hypocritical liars. In contrast, vegetarians actually DO something for animals.

One meat-eater needlessly kills more than 700 cows, pigs, chickens (total) in a lifetime than one vegetarian. You can fuck yap fuck yap fuck yap with all your bullshit excuses, but you cannot get around that hard core fact.

  • @deskset24 Maybe the meat eater cares for some animals but not others, and maybe he cares enough that he doesn't want animals being stomped and kicked and needlessly tortured but he isn't all that bothered by eating an animal that had a spike through it's head.

  • @GodlessInfinity It's not just the alleged quick spike in the head that's the issue (and needless to say, that doesn't work always). It's the lifetime of confinement.

We all die eventually. Therefore, the only variable that matters is quality of life. That is why prisoners - both human & animal - have it worse than those on the outside who live fast but die young.

  • @deskset24 Good points, but what I'm saying is that just because they eat cows doesn't mean they don't care about animals. Most meat eaters just don't care about specific animals, normally the really stupid and ugly ones, though that may just become a convenient excuse (swine most certainly are not dumb, nor are deer).

  • @deskset24 I'd also like to say that most meat eaters imagine that cows come from happy farms with plenty of wide open spaces where they just roam around eating grass all day. If more people knew the conditions livestock are kept in due to factory farming, they'd be upset about it, and the smarter ones would also be concerned because it creates potential pandemics.

  • sounds good but why not just make a synthetic copy industrially. no need for the biological component. just needs the right proteins and structure and supporting chemicals. biology is very impressive but the direct industrial approach is much more efficient.

much the same as when you make biofuels, it's many times more efficient to use a non biological process.

  • @DanFrederiksen If it weren't biological why would we eat it? To get cancer?

  • @GodlessInfinity nitwit, try to understand that you get various diseases from meat right now and a well made synthetic could be entirely healtthy with no chance of disease from it. and taste better

  • @DanFrederiksen Possibly, though I'm highly skeptical and would need to see a full study on the viability, cost effectiveness, and health effects of synthetic proteins. In Vitro meat is currently more feasible, no animals need to be harmed, the meat can be engineered to be healthy, and it doesn't require manually manipulating individual proteins at a molecular level.

  • The thing about vegetarians that do not eat meat strictly because they think its immoral to kill any animal is would you think twice about killing a bug? Buddhist believe that every life has value and should be treated with respect from the fly on your wall to the cat in your lap. Now im not saying killing animals is not wrong or that you should all be Buddhist but if you preach the value of life, value ALL life not just the cute and cuddle ones that lick your face.

  • yes..this really is a very good thing for vegetarians world-wide, because you don't need to harm or kill an animal for meat.

  • As a vegetarian i am really exited and think this technology can change the world.

And Yes, i am vegetarian and i really like meat.

  • This is the future guys. We'll be feeding the world with this stuff.

  • @Frebojo They could just eat plants. It's more efficient.

  • @marcluc1988 tell that to people who experiencing famine right now and are starving how would go about helping them in this case? In-Vitro meat could help but more research and development is required to make this more larger scale. anyways its not a technological issue its more a philosophical issue that were dealing with now; whether it good or bad to do this type of food production.

  • I'm vegan so I won't be eating it.

  • @marcluc1988 Oh for fucks sake!

  • @mast3rm00se Well, I won't. For fuck's sake yourself!

  • @mast3rm00se May I ask why you think, "Oh for fuck's sake."? It's animal explotation and I don't like meat any way.

  • @marcluc1988 If you don't like meat thats one thing, but when scientists do everything they can to make everyone happy and you still complain.

This is not immoral in any way at all!

  • @mast3rm00se

Where do you think they get their samples from which to cultivate the meat?

  • @marcluc1988 From perfectly fine animals. How is the process of extracting single cells from an animal immoral?

  • @mast3rm00se Well, they'll only use young animals because the meat tastes better. So, from an economic point of view, they'll kill them when they reach puberty because to keep and feed older animals costs money. Also, how are these animals going to be bred and kept? I've not eaten meat since I was 8 and dont miss it so I very much doubt this will tempt me.

  • Bring it on!

  • The sky shall turn black with ash, rivers will be poisoned by sulfurous rain. The earth will open up and swallow cities whole, and the waters of the oceans shall crash down upon the ruins. There will be a great famine and the air will be as asbestos. The world will be encased in centuries of darkness and ice.

All who depend on the soil for sustenance will perish, all who depend on the sun's light for warmth will know cold death, only those who at last live apart from nature will survive.
