I bought it like you see for 5grand...beat the shit out of it offroading it and sold it 2years later for the same money i bought it for....your an idiot
nice tits in the window... Better motor swap tho... hum. 31" is a little light on the tire size. I have drifted and wheeled my old navy project comanchee with 33 x 12.5 motivated by a mild built 73 - 350 - 4 bolt - 7 cfm something quadrapuke (but perfectly tuned by a perfectionist... me). all torque for an chev sm motor ( non hot rod equip) apx. 350hp 300tq I could pull the left front tire air born in a heart beat... and drift a corner with a bit of brake motivation.
Heck YES! Im dying to shove a 5.9 cummins in mine, i haven't figured it all out yet but i will eventually.... how much did you pay for the axles? and is that a high pinion 44 front? im trying to find a front axle for mine without breaking the bank and i want a high pinion. Mine's a 24 / 7 / 365 daily driver and im running 33's on 3.55's so 31's on 3.55's isnt bad..... and i get about the same mileage with the 4.0 and the AW4
@f44life well the problem im having is my dana 30 is turning into a banana on me, if i had a fresh one i could probably just truss it but i want to get rid of the vacuum disco and the vacuum disco housing all together as well and since i know ill probably have gear or shaft problems eventually i just want to upgrade...
@f44life ... practically 365 Days a year, I put over 20,000 a year on my Xj thats in my videos... it just has some small engine mods and it certainly keeps up...
i own a 1990 commanche that i,m planning to swap in a 350 lt1 from my caprice 95 cop car,i,m wondering what diffs to use, stock wont last, and i got to keep it manual of course, but they are differences as the body and frame union between the two,so i expect fitment problems, any advice would help, thanks, and you got a bad ass xj man see ya
@capricelt11996 no the stock axles will not last, atleast a dana 44 or chry8.25 with the 29spline, advance adapters website can help you out with parts
nothing...just defeats the purpose of having it... just like owning a drag car and it only comes off the trailer for the track or the garage...it pointless having it for only one use
Thats a pretty sick jeep man, Ive been thinking about dropping a 360 V8 in my jeep, im getting some noise from the engine and im starting to question if its a rod or not....How well did it fit under the hood and what was the estimated cost? I dont have alot of money but if im out and engine id really consider dropping in a V8, and how much did the Dana-60 set you back?
its fits nice perfect, 2 grand or so on the dana 60 its from currie enterprise, more then a pretty penny on the swap, it was close to 20grand i have all the reciepts. Theres alot more expensive parts then you can see.
Your Jeep Is Fuckin Awsome ive got a stock 87 cherokee cheif i want to do a v8 swap did you have to do any thing to the engine bay to fit that vette motor?
Bullshit? Wiring would have been a tad more, but for the power, its worth it. Spending 20,000$ on an old Jeep is, no offense, but its hardly low budget.
Congratulations you have one of the coolest XJ's. I use to have a 1990 XJ Limited with the stock 4.0L I never thought that a Corvette engine would fit under it's hood.
Thanks for replying. From what I read about v8 swaps is that the v8 engine oil pan can be too close to the front axle. Tha's why I'm asking about the minimum lift that I need. Is 3 inch lift enough to clear the fron axle comfortably with a 96 LT1 Caprice engine?
can you tell me why you used a d60 rear with 31"s? You lose ground clearance over stock when you do that because of how big that diff is. The minimum size you want to run with that is 35 and thats pushing it. I like the swap but the tires are way to small for the rig.
thats true. But i dont have any money to regear. And u loss hp and mpg when u add big ass tires and you have parasitic drivetrain loss. Then the v8 will be pointless. And with 31's maybe 33's down the road my drivetrain is bulletproof.
do it all has a different definition to everybody mine is pull trailer, decent gas mileage, easy to medium trails. Not climbing huge rocks or going scuba diving in mud puddles. Not that extreme.
yeah! I love XJ's cause you can buy em manual gear box!

LS1 is old news. L98 motors are strong motors and will last along time if you take care of them. Nothing like older motors and raw torque power.

@thatxjguy7191 about 9gran and sum change total of both, currie enterprise built axles. You could just do axle shaft upgrade to the front for now.

What's the minimum lift you need for a Chevy v8 engine (LT1) swap?
hmd100100 2 years ago
u dont need a lift to stuff a v8 in. Just springs to handle the extra weight of the v8.
