  • I think the movie Avatar was okay I just watched like 2 hours a go it was finish, but Fergunlly is the best <3

  • good editing job :)

  • where did you find this song. i hav been in love with this song since i first saw ferngully ( i was 3). But i can't find this song anywhere.

And i agree this did remind me of ferngully.

  • @fashion90590 Just type "Elton John Some Other World download" into google search and you should be able to find something...

  • Could there be a more perfect song for this movie. I think not. You nailed it.

  • @Tash0romona thanks for the comment! :)

  • LOL, Avatar was so not original. it ripped off Ferngully, Matrix, even Cameron's own Aliens.

Was worth seeing but overall didn't live up to the hype & I havent' reseen & don't care if I do or not

  • @WatchMyAwesomeVideos I'd suggest watching the "Planet Earth" series instead... it is only worth watching if you pretend it's like a fireworks show and only the visuals really matter... also... the plot and characters I found to be somewhat obnoxious... especially the "George Bush General" I never thought I'd have to hear such stupid spew about war and terrorists again... thanks a lot, Avatar (w/ sarcasm)

  • LOL, I'm a Liberal but I can't stand some of the obvious Al Gore commentary.

We know we're polluting & destroying the precious forests but as long as stupid people exist, there will be despicable actions such as wild fires & mistreatment

  • @WatchMyAwesomeVideos

Did Avatar also reminded you of Heavy Metal, Dune, Star Wars, Castle in The Sky, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (aka Warriors of the Wind), Totoro, Wizards, Starchaser Legend of Orin, Last of the Mohicans, Princess Mononoke and even the European animated classics like Fantastic Planet and LIghtYears (aka Gandahar) as well? Cameron is a fan of animation, anime, european-animation, Sci-fi/fantasy movies/novels and adult animation.

  • @totoro1591

Nice name, besides Ferngully do you think Avatar is an adults version of that movie? and did it also reminded you of Castle in The Sky, Princess Mononoke, Star Wars, Nausicaa, My Neighbor Totoro, Fantastic Planet, LightYears (Gandahar), Heavy Metal, Willow, Dune and Last of the Mohicans?

Cameron is a fan of anime, animation, European animation, adult animation and Sci-fi fantasy movies/novels and borrowed from those.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Thanks for the compliment on my name... Actually Avatar doesn't remind me of Studio Ghibli's work that much. The main similarity is the environmental message. I said to someone else that Castle in the Sky uses Laputa, which originally is from John Swift's "Gulliver's Travels." Avatar does remind me a little of Fantastic Planet, but also reminds me of a now hard to find "movie" from George Lucas's animated "Droids" thing... and yes, Avatar is Ferngully in space

  • @WatchMyAwesomeVideos

    Except Avatar is for grown-ups

  • @AnnwnFilms cool! (Sorry I beat you to it...)

  • I always told my friends that Avatar was a mix between Fern Gully and The Emerald Forest. So you're not alone in thinking that. Take it easy.

  • @figmentofyourmind Thanks for the comment! :)

  • @figmentofyourmind

But do you think Avatar is an adults version of Ferngully? and did it also reminded you of Willow, Ghibli movies mainly Castle in The Sky (aka Laputa) and Mononoke, Heavy Metal, Starchaser Legend of Orin, Dune, Lawrence of Arabia and Last of the Mohicans?

  • @Johnlindsey289 I guess I'm saying if I had to pick ONE movie that Avatar is most similar to, it would be Ferngully... I must say tangentially that I always felt to re-take on Laputa that's in "Castle in the Sky" is a bit "thefty" in my opinion as it is highly derivative of "Gulliver's Travels" w/out it being a really clear allusion... same for Avatar... but I think Avatar was also stealing from "Gulliver's Travels" and not from "Castle in the Sky" but that's digressing...

  • @Johnlindsey289 I can see similarities with Dune, Heavy Metal, etc. But Willow? I can see no correlation between Avatar and WIllow at all. Oh, and you forgot Dances with Wolves.

  • @figmentofyourmind

Well there's the killer dog creatures, similar battles scenes and the forest scene where Jake sees those seeds where very reminscence of how Willow met the fairies and that goddess. Have you seen Rene Laloux's European animated movies Fantastic Planet and LightYears (aka Gandahar) or even the works of Miyazaki? Cameron is a fan of Laloux and Miyazaki as well and used those movies as well. Heavy Metal is one of his faves and used that as well.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Ok, I can see the similarities between the two now. I've seen Fantastic Planet, but have not seen LightYears. I will definitely check it out when I can get a chance. And yes, I've seen a few of Miyazaki's movies, but will have to check out Laloux's stuff. It appears you noticed Cameron's influences more than I did, though in my defense, it seems that your movie knowledge far exceeds my own. Thanks again, and take care.
