  • I love these huge loudspeakers!

  • A white siratone? I never saw that before!

  • Budget "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind" extraterrestrial communication kit.

  • I used to li

  • Now Everyone around knows when someone rang the doorbell @ the dept.

  • I see the fire dept. got a new doorbell !!! THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE

  • If they use it for fire call, what tone do they use, alt.. wail?

  • Looks like it was painted.

  • Are there any other EOWS in Lakewood?

  • @crzy4MAC12 I Think 1 EOWS 612.Lakewood is mostly Modulators

  • man, theres alot of eows 612s on polez! this is the only roof mounted 1 ive ever seen! XD

  • How common is a roof-mounted EOWS 612? I've never seen one before.

  • where is that in ohio(north, etc.)?

  • IT MUST HAVE A MODULATOR SOUND CARD.

  • it sounds like my grandpa's doorbell

  • Oh.

  • This is one of the 612's that came out for special order in 2006. I'ts rare to see one. I'd like to hear i'ts whoop tone.

  • Nope. Lakewood has always had EOWS*612s since the 80s. They just replaced the control units to UltraVoice a few years ago.

  • You can still have them made on special actually.

  • @dinxton2 Do they still make 812's and 412's on special order?

  • @Tabby266 Sadly not. It would be cool if they did.

  • mounted on top of roof who would want that XD!!!

  • The Fire Department does. :D

  • that sounds like my doorbell

  • love the echo

  • wow thats beautiful eows-612. they made other model i think? right.

  • how faraway can you here these?

  • It depends... Electronic sirens have volume levels, where you can set how loud it is. This siren in particular is quiet from all other EOWS siren's.

  • lol is the mall closeing LOL ROFLH

  • holly crap that thing is huge!!!

  • Yes, it is. :)

  • I really want to see one of those in person lol

  • wow that the same bell that my church has but thats a siren.

  • Lakewood's 612s must have had fewer years on them before being refurbished

  • Lakewood's were installed in 1986, which makes them newer compared to other EOWS's.

I've heard you can tell how old an EOWS 612 is by its color. If it's mostly black or dark grey, or yellow like the ones in Hawaii, then it was made in the 70's/early 80's. If it's light gray like Lakewood's, then it was made in the mid 80's and on.

  • Yeah. Doesn't look that old.

  • why couldn't brook park upgrade their EOWS sirens the same way that lakewood did?

  • Im not sure. They were over 35 years old. I should ask Brook Park Police. :|

  • Nice. I lived in Lakewood for most of my childhood, and I've always been interested in these sirens growing up.

Years ago this particular used to be at the "island" in the intersection of Warren and Franklin (the telephone pole that it was mounted on is still there). It was moved to the fire station some time in 1998 and was completely upgraded/overhauled with newer Federal Signal control boxes, along with the other 612s in Lakewood. That is why they sound like Modulators now.

  • Really? What other EOWS 612'S Are there? Where?

  • Great vid, for an EWOS it looks to be in good condition sounds like more of a Modulator than an EWOS but never the less cool siren and vid

  • Thanks, Luke! :)

  • That 612 sounds as healthy as it can be!

  • I Totally agree with you, Andy! :)

  • this is my favorite electronic siren ever!!! awsome video!!!

  • Thanks, Matt. Mine too!

  • Awesome video, Evan! This is my favorite electronic siren!

This one sounds like its either ran by an UltraVoice controller or has a new tone card.

  • Thanks, Charlie! My favorite too. Im not sure which controller or tone card it used. I think its a new tone card, because the Modulators do this exact tone.

  • Great video of the EOWS-612, Evan! :)

  • Thanks, Brandon! :)
